Role Overview

As our Fundraising Director (volunteer), you will play a pivotal role in securing the resources that drive our mission forward. Success in this position means identifying and pursuing the right funding opportunities and coordinating our fundraising team to achieve clear goals. Through this role, you will gain significant experience of the entire fundraising process for both nonprofits and mission-driven entities, as well as learn about sustainable finance and how technology can positively contribute to it.

Commitment

• This role is currently volunteer-based.
• We are seeking a commitment of 5–8 hours per week.
• We are looking for someone to join us long term, but are open to shorter-term applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess new funding opportunities for suitability using our CRM and training resources.
• Lead our fundraising strategy, setting goals for the team and adjusting course where needed.

We are looking for new volunteers all over the East of England to be Speak out. Stay Safe Volunteers. You would visit primary schools local to you to help us protect a generation of children from abuse and neglect.

In 2022 the NSPCC's Speak out. Stay safe volunteers returned to primary schools. As a Speak out. Stay safe. volunteer, you will visit primary schools to deliver Speak out. Stay safe. workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Our Speak out. Stay safe. workshops are age-appropriate and memorable and need an energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver them. You'll work alongside other Speak out. Stay safe. volunteers to make sure at the end of each session the children feel empowered and know who they can speak out to if they are worried.

Are you a dog lover? Do you have the time to help raise a life-changing puppy? Would you like to make a difference to someone's life? If you've answered yes to these questions, then this role could be perfect for you! 

As a Puppy Raiser, you'll provide a 6-8 week-old puppy with the vital foundation for its future role as a guide dog. You'll be looking after a puppy for 12-16 months and will guide him or her through training, socialisation, the introduction of new environments and experiences while providing a loving home.

There might be the odd chewed slipper along the way, but nothing beats the rewarding feeling of loving and raising a puppy who will go on to make an enormous difference to someone living with sight loss.

What you'll be doing:

• Engaging with our world-class training programme to prepare your puppy for the next stages of becoming a guide dog.
• Providing care and support for your puppy at home e.g., loving, grooming and feeding him or her. 
• Socialising your puppy and introducing him or her to a variety of environments to increase confidence – this can be as simple as taking your puppy with you to the shops, office or park as you go about your everyday life.
• Teaching your puppy to be comfortable alone - gradually building up from a few minutes to a maximum of four hours.
• Taking your puppy to monthly puppy classes, and interacting with other puppy raisers in your community whilst refreshing your training and sharing tips.
• Meeting with your volunteer manager as frequently as needed to discuss any changes or issues with your puppy.
• Completing short questionnaires about your puppy’s development.

You'll ideally have:

• A loving home with enough time to invest in raising a puppy and attending to their needs (e.g. toilet training). If you work from home or have hobbies, you'll need to be available to give the puppy regular attention alongside these.
• Someone at home who is physically able to handle large breed dogs (around 25-40kg).
• Access to a car, so that you can get your puppy used to travelling.
• The agreement of your landlord to have a dog in the property if you rent your home. 
• A safe secure area outside for your puppy to go to the toilet.

s a volunteer you'll have access to our world-class training programme, to implement with your puppy in training, a great bonus for any dog owner! This is delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, using a mixture of different learning techniques virtually e.g., videos, documents and e-learning modules. Examples of the modules you'll have access to include:

• Greeting new visitors
• Being home alone
• Settling in new environments

You'll receive plenty of support from your volunteer manager who will help you work through these training modules with your puppy. We also offer puppy classes for puppy raisers in the local area to get together, share stories and provide refreshers on training techniques. 

Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any pre-agreed expenses related to volunteering with us, including veterinary costs, food costs for the puppy and other materials needed for the puppy’s training. We will also pay an optional allowance of up to £100 a year to offset additional costs, and we have working agreements with certain bus and train operating companies, letting you take your puppy on short training journeys free of charge.

How does it work?

In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

Important information:

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. An Independent Health Complaints Advocate (IHCA) Volunteer works across Worcestershire or Herefordshire to support adults who want to complain about their NHS care or treatment. This is a free and confidential service independent of the NHS.

Airplay is part of the RAF Benevolent fund and run by One YMCA. We provide youth clubs for children aged eight to eighteen which includes Ben Clubs for children aged 5 to 7 too. We provide a range of social activities in state-of-the-art facilities with sessions run by our friendly youth workers.

It's something of a community hub, an inspiring and happy emporium. It is often the first place people hear about the hospice. If you’re on the shop floor then a large part of the day can be spent talking with and listening to customers. It can also be the first port of call for those with a terminal diagnosis or someone seeking help for a friend or loved one.

What training and support will I be given?

You will be supported by the Charity Shop Manager and given induction and training to ensure you feel confident and capable in your role. As part of the wider hospice team, you’ll also have the chance to take part in various team wellbeing and development opportunities, plus additional learning.

About The Club

Support United (Support Utd) is a fun, social football club that meets weekly in Reading. The club is designed to give people within the LGBTQIA+ community the opportunity to play football in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. Our focus is on enjoyment, learning, and building confidence — no matter your experience level. Sessions are open to adults aged 18+ and welcome players of all abilities.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Volunteer Assistant Football Coach to support the running of our weekly sessions. You’ll work alongside the lead coach to help deliver inclusive, enjoyable football sessions for a group of around 10–12 players (with potential to grow in future).

This role would be ideal for someone with an interest in coaching or sport, particularly those studying sports science, coaching, physical education, or a related subject. It would also be perfect for someone who is a part of, or a strong ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. 

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the lead coach during weekly football sessions

• Assisting with session set-up and pack-down

• Helping to deliver drills, activities, and small-sided games

• Supporting basic club management tasks, such as:

  • Communicating with players

  • Assisting with attendance and session organisation

About You

Essential:

They directly help cats by raising awareness of Cats Protection. A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

Are you passionate about supporting the Armed Forces Community? Could you help to raise awareness for SSAFA in your local area? You don’t need a military background, just the ability to get on with all kinds of people and some occasional free time.

What is a Community Engagement Volunteer?

As a community engagement volunteer, you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. We want to ensure that our Armed Forces community knows that SSAFA is here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families.

A varied programme of awareness raising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.

Treasurer and Bookkeeper Volunteer

What the role involves:

A support group treasurer and bookkeeper take on specific roles and responsibilities in the managing and reporting of the group’s finances.  One volunteer can do both roles or two volunteers can work together, dividing responsibilities.  The key tasks are:

Bookkeeper:

• Digital recording of all group income and expenditure using a monthly account spreadsheet
• Submit monthly accounts to the Stroke Association together with receipts and paying in slips
• Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
• Prepare a financial summary for the annual review meeting of the group 
• Liaise closely with the group treasurer (where the role is split)
• Aware of the Stroke Association financial guidelines
• Work together with the Stroke Association’s Finance Administrator

Treasurer/card holder:

• Manage the groups prepaid card
• Oversee the day to day income and expenditure, using the group’s pre-paid card and petty cash 
• Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
• Ensure all expenses and invoices are paid on time
• Bank any cash or cheques with the Barclays deposit card 
• Each month collate receipts, invoices, volunteer claims and registers of all group income and expenditure and email to the bookkeeper (where the role is split) Liaise closely with the book keeper (where the role is split) 
• Ensure the group follows the Stroke Association’s financial guidelinesWork with fellow volunteers to ensure the group spends in line with the charitable objectives and financial information is transparent

Training for this role:

We provide all of our support group treasurers, cardholders and bookkeepers with training so they feel confident in the role and give the best possible support to stroke survivors.  All training is over Zoom.

Essential training that you need to undertake for this role is:

• The Stroke Association’s People welcome session (2.5 hours over Learn)
• GDPR (online module over Learn and factsheet)
• Safeguarding training (online module over Learn)
• Finance training modules (total of 3 hours)

We also offer ongoing support and expenses where appropriate.

Where and when you would volunteer:

The bookkeeper can be a remote role, supporting the financial running of a group from your home for approximately 2 hours per month.  As you are not going to the group, you do not need to do the safeguarding training.  You’ll need to do the other essential training though.

The treasurer/cardholder is usually a face to face role, one which requires attending the group sessions for sometimes up to 2 hours a week.  This will depend on how often your local group meets.

Hybrid Working:

Please note, for this particular position we are looking for a volunteer on a hybrid working arrangement with at least one day in-person per month. This will be at our HQ based on Park Farm Business Park, in Haywards Heath, East Sussex. The remainder of the month, you will be working remotely via Office365.

Volunteering with us is an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and work experience, explore this beautiful area of mid Wales and the Snowdonia National Park, and meet a range of interesting and friendly new people all working together on solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

In this exciting residential placement, you will learn sustainable woodland management practices through hands-on practical tasks, help support our off-grid water and sanitation systems and make improvements around site using our natural resources. You will learn how to apply a variety of woodland management techniques and woodworking skills to support biodiversity across CAT’s managed woodland spaces.

Volunteering with the CAT Water and Woodland team helps to provide beautiful, healthy, diverse and peaceful outdoor spaces for visitors, educational groups and CAT staff to learn from and enjoy.
