What we’re looking for:

Volunteers can offer their support for a variety of local events and initiatives. To help build a group of passionate people we can call on if we need an extra pair of hands.

We have a Branch Committee in Swindon, celebrating their 125th year of active support, busy organising lots of different events. Sometimes we need a few extra people to lend a hand and gather support. 

If you can't commit to a regular group but still happy to be called upon every now and again when time allows, then Friends of Swindon might just be the opportunity for you.

Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn’t continue doing what we do without them. That means, our community fundraising volunteers play a really important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you’ll do:

Helping out when you can at local fundraising and awareness raising events in support of the NSPCC - organised locally by our Swindon Branch Committee, local campaigns team and/or Community Fundraising Manager.

You will be representing the charity in a professional manner. Some examples include:

• Helping in-person events run smoothly
• Childhood Day collections
• Acquiring prizes for events
• Assisting with ticket sales
• Advertising and promoting events through networks and social media

A key role will be to share news about our work in the local community and helping promote upcoming fundraising events and initiatives.

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Salisbury and District group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. Family Friends carefully recruits, trains, and matches volunteers with families in Central-West London. Our befriending volunteers offer long-term practical and emotional support based on each family's unique needs and potential. We offer two befriending volunteer opportunities with us-, Big Buddies and Parent Buddies.

Our Big Buddies support young people, aged 10-18, for a few hours each week over a period of 6 -12 months. With encouragement and support, volunteers will aim to help young people to discover their strengths and build confidence.

Support may look like:

• Helping to strengthen family relationships.
• Providing a listening ear 
• Taking young person to the cinema, museums, libraries - broadening their horizons!

Essential Criteria:

• Can commit to the Big Buddies programme for a minimum of 6 months
• 18+
• Must have lived in the UK for the last 2 years

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the South East Kent Group. As an Activities Organiser, you will be to bringing together our MS community through engaging and accessible activities. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

We are a very friendly group of 7 volunteers covering a large are of the South East area of Kent from Dover to Hythe and Ashford.  We currently hold a monthly support group meet-up in Ashford 10am - Noon 2nd Thursday in Month, but we would like to expand these in the future in other areas.  We have a support team who do visits and information signposting at the William Harvey Hospital.

We are very keen to expand our activities and would welcome new volunteers with ideas and support in helping us offer more for people affected by MS in our area.

The hours will be suited to compliment your own personal commitments.  If possible 2 to 4 hrs a week would be great if we can develop our services. We have the monthly support meet up which is currently 2 hrs a month but we would like to offer this more often if possible in 2019 to every other week or a new meeting in a different area.  We have group volunteer meetings every 4 months and there are volunteer events held twice a year for all volunteers by MS National Centre so all volunteers in the Kent area can meet up and share their activities and good ideas together.

Being our solicitor reality-check:

• Sharing insights about profession culture, challenges, and opportunities that only an insider would know

• Helping us identify the real barriers neurodivergent solicitors face and practical solutions that might work

• Ensuring our initiatives make sense in the context of how solicitor firms actually operate

Shaping our strategy:

• Contributing the solicitor's perspective to our programme development

• Advising on the best approaches for engaging with firms, training providers, and professional bodies

• Helping develop resources that work in real solicitor practice environments

Being our face in the profession:

• Representing us at solicitor-focused events and networks

• Building relationships that open doors and create opportunities

• Speaking at events and contributing to professional discussions where your voice carries weight

Developing what matters:

• Advising on training and support programmes that solicitors will actually use

• Helping create career guidance that reflects modern solicitor pathways

• Supporting research and policy work that affects how solicitors practice

The need-to-know

Time commitment: Around 4-8 hours per month - one monthly trustee meeting plus the solicitor-specific work, and the occasional extra task that crops up. 

Term: We're looking for a minimum 2-year commitment initially, which then becomes a rolling 1-year term subject to the constitutional requirements. 

When we meet: We will be setting our meeting dates at the start of the organisation's year (October 2025) so everyone can plan ahead.
