Our Admin Volunteers provide vital support to our staff and volunteers to help us reach as many people as possible with the Mary’s Meals story and help us keep our promise to the 3 million children we feed every day. Pease note that the admin volunteer role is not always available in all regions of the UK - please enquire for more information.

What is the role of an Admin Volunteer?

The role of Admin Volunteer may involve:

• Conducting research

About the Role
We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sales & Business Development Volunteer to help drive our growth and expand our reach. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in sales,  business development, and relationship management while making a meaningful contribution to our cause.

Key Responsibilities
As a Sales & Business Development Volunteer, you'll work closely with our team to identify new opportunities and build lasting partnerships. Your responsibilities will include:

• Researching and identifying potential clients, business leads, sponsors, partners, and business opportunities.
• Supporting the development of sales strategies and outreach campaigns.
• Helping to create compelling proposals and presentations.
• Conducting initial outreach to prospective clients via email, phone, and social media

Single Parents Support and Advice Services is a Charitable Incorporated Company with over 35000 members UK wide.

Role Summary.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Podcast Producer to support the planning and delivery of the Firmly Rooted Podcast. You will be responsible for planning and booking studio recording sessions, managing post production editing, and working closely with the host and other team members to make this the no #1 podcast for Muslim university students. 

Key tasks

• Brainstorming, contacting and liaising with guests to appear on the podcast

• Booking and preparing the recording studio for filming sessions

• Recording the podcast in the studio alongside the guest and host

• Cooperating with the host to plan the structure and topics covered in each episode

• Coordinating research and brainstorming sessions to identify potential guests and topics

• Collaborating with data analyst and design team to test and produce attention-grabbing thumbnails and titles

• Uploading the podcast to our video and audio platforms

What we’re looking for

• Passion for Islamic education and the development of young Muslims.

• Some experience or training in video or podcast production.

• Ability to travel to locations across the UK (Manchester and London) for recording sessions.

Could you support SSAFA volunteers in your area with the I.T they need to support our clients? You don’t need a military background, just some basic I.T skills, patience, and the ability to get on with a wide range of people. What is an I.T Coordinator?

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. Each one has an I.T Coordinator to support all volunteers to make the most of the internet-based systems we use in our work with clients. This is a key role involving supporting people of all ages sharing skills.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

We use internet-based systems to offer the best possible service to our clients and SSAFA volunteers. Some of our volunteers already have I.T skills while some do not. Could you be a friendly face to help volunteers with their computing questions?

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

A key aspect to this role will be supporting volunteers by running workshops, drop-ins or supporting individual volunteers by phone or at their homes.

The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular commitment to the branch, but days and times could vary to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• Supporting volunteers to use computers and software relevant to their SSAFA role.
• Helping to resolve I.T issues, seeking assistance from Central Office where necessary.
• Assisting in the role out of new I.T initiatives including the testing of software
• Becoming the branch expert on the SSAFA Finance Management System and Client Management system
• Supporting all volunteers to act in accordance with the data protection policy, reporting any breaches to the branch secretary and seeking advice from Central Office as needed.
• Working with Regional Trainer, branch volunteers and the Learning and Development team to identify local training needs and arrange for the required courses to be delivered.
• Supporting and encouraging any volunteers facing barriers to completing their training
• Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

What are we looking for?

• Friendly and approachable people
• Competence in the general use of laptops and tablets and experience of using Microsoft Office 365
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience of running small workshops/training sessions etc.
• Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with volunteers, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues.
• Ability to encourage and motivate all volunteers to use the I.T systems relevant to their role.
• Reliable attitude, contacts volunteers promptly, keep appointments etc.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to meetings, events etc.

What is a Branch Treasurer?

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. These are divided into small local areas that we call divisions. Each branch has a treasurer overseeing the divisions that, in turn each have a treasurer of their own. This is a key role involving financial planning and financial administration.

Why do we need you?

One of the key ways we help people is by tapping into various sources of funding on their behalf. Monitoring and reconciling this flow of funding into and out of SSAFA accounts is important to ensure clients receive timely support and we are able to account for all charitable funds in our care.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. This flexible role involves using our on-line financial management system and on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best. You will need to attend a number of branch committee meetings each year.

What would you be doing?

· Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions

· Supporting divisions to manage their local finances.

· Making and recording all authorised payments

· Preparing year end accounts and financial statements including arranging an independent review

· Working with the branch secretary, advise on a local fundraising programme to cover branch running costs.

· Identify and manage the return of any surplus monies from grants as appropriate.

· Providing reports to the branch committee and to SSAFA’s Central Office

· Maintaining accurate records using our on-line finance management system

· Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer, or fundraiser.

· Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)

· Support from the branch Chair and the Finance team based as our central office.

· Access to a range of e-learning courses

· Support from the Volunteer Support Manager and the Volunteer Support Team based at our central office.

· Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses

· Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

· Friendly and approachable people with some experience of financial administration

· Good written and spoken English.

· Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with volunteers, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues.

· Ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address.

· Willingness to use our on-line banking and on-line finance management system (this is covered in training)

· Reliable attitude: contact volunteers promptly, keep appointments etc.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely.

· Access to public transport or a car to gravel to meetings etc.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! • face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
