At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups. We have branches across the UK, all of which help our cats in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve; help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

What we need from you...
You’ll be:
- Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
- Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
- Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
- Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
- Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
- Organising and chairing team meetings
- Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protection
Time expectation:
Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

We are an award winning charity that provide a school-based 1-2-1 mentoring programme for vulnerable young people, helping them to realise their full potential no matter what their circumstances.
Our mentors are volunteers who give just 1 hour a week to mentor the young person they are carefully matched to.
Through no fault of their own, young people who are care-experienced or facing challenges experience a significant gap in outcomes compared to their peers. They aren’t reaching their potential - but 1-2-1 mentoring can change that. Just one hour a week with a consistent, caring adult can boost confidence, academic performance and open doors to a brighter future.
We’re transforming the lives of the young people we support, recognising their talent, we help them to grow and utilise their abilities. We want everyone to get a fair chance at life.
As a mentor you would provide encouragement, reassurance and a safe space to build confidence and self worth, ultimately helping the young person to unlock their potential.

Green Allotments is a new charity on a mission to create new allotment sites in England and Wales.
We are a charity and do not make a profit from our work.
We are seeking a Volunteer Land Monitor. The role is to visit a piece of land weekly and check everything is OK. The land is located in the Hebron area of Morpeth, Northumberland. The land does not currently have allotments on it. We ask you to take a short video recording of the land each time you visit and then sharethis with our staff. This is so that we have regular records of the condition of the land and so that we can check for any issues.
Who the role is suitable for: A person who likes being outdoors and who has a background in making assessments, or who is good at following a routine, or communicates well with colleagues. You must be able to use a smart phone to record/share a video and report back to staff. This role is suitable for someone looking for a short, regular, outdoor volunteer commitment and who likes trying out something new. This role might suit someone who likes walking, cycling, wildlife, nature. For example, you might like to include your volunteering as part of a regular hike or bike.
This is a new volunteer role which our charity hopes to duplicate elsewhere in England and Wales. Our north east based staff will meet with you and train you in how to carry out the role.
Your initial monitoring of the land will be in conjunction with our staff and your views/feedback will be important, helping to shape the volunteer role for a national roll-out.
The role does not involve any physical activity other than walking and looking. (There is no tree pruning or moving/lifting objects, no attending meetings, or writing long reports). Expenses are reimbursed.

A bit about this role
At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership, and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and respond to enquiries from members of the public.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Promoting the benefits of neutering and our neutering schemes
- Responding to enquiries about neutering
- Completing relevant neutering paperwork and distributing neutering vouchers
- Following up with cat owners to make sure that vouchers are used
- Ensuring all cats and kittens are neutered in line with Cats Protection policies and procedures
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by promoting our neutering scheme. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

Would you like to befriend a child or young person in care and make a long-term friendship with them?
If yes, then volunteering for Reconstruct may suit you.
An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who befriends a young person in care and develops a long-term friendship with them. This often involves helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as to the cinema, bowling or just a walk in the park.
You must be 21+, available for flexible working and able to commit to a minimum of 2 years. As a volunteer, you would spend about 2-4 hours every month with your allocated child.
Each volunteer is carefully matched with a child or young person in care in their local area who shares similar interests.
WHAT DO INDEPENDENT VISITORS DO?
- Visit a child monthly and becomes a trusted adult friend to them.
- Provide a consistent and reliable adult with a view to building a trusting and positive relationship with the child.
- Provide a child with the opportunity to try new activities and spend time with them away from their placement. This in turn can enhance progress and resilience of children, by building self-esteem, strengthening mental health, and opening new social relationships outside of the care system.
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?
- Interpersonal Skills – Ability to easily build rapport an identify with children and young people.
- Communication – Excellent communication skills, good report writing skills.
- Committed – Willing to commit to a child for at least one year and preferably two years.
- Role Model – A good role model for a child or young person who may have experienced difficult times during their childhood.
- DBS Check – We will carry out safer recruitment checks and you will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check.
Examples of activities can include:
- Sports
- Play football

- Bowling
- Go to the library
You will be allocated a budget for each visit for your activity, and payment of your expenses, are paid so you are not out of pocket. These include, travel costs, and parking.

The Farm Animal Sanctuary is seeking a dedicated Trustee to join its board and help shape a secure future for the 600 rescued farm animals in its care. Founded nearly 40 years ago by Jan Taylor, the charity is committed to providing a safe, nurturing home for neglected and abandoned farm animals.
Who we are
On a wet February morning, Jan visited a livestock market and witnessed the horrors unfolding before them. Sick, malnourished, diseased, and deformed animals were being offered up for sale.
To this day, the charity campaigns against animal cruelty, aiming to change both legal and individual perceptions of Farm Animal Welfare.
The charity's mission is to provide a safe and comfortable home for neglected farm animals.
The Role

The Farm Animal Sanctuary invites individuals to join their small but dedicated team as they embark on an exciting journey to create a secure future for the charity and the 600 farm animals in their care. Meetings are usually 1–2 hours long and held via Zoom, so trustees do not need to live locally — although visits to the sanctuary are always welcome. Previous trustee experience is not required, but trustees are expected to be proactive and contribute to administration, fundraising, or financial planning. An interest in Farm Animal Welfare would also be beneficial.

During the past 20 years alone, their Centre has secured claims of over £29m in benefits to assist those in need.
The majority of Chinese immigrants to the UK prosper well; our client targets their services at:
- Those who are in need of support as they grow older.
- New arrivals whilst they settle into their new life in the UK.
- Younger members of the community who grow up in the UK and seek opportunities to connect with their Chinese heritage, culture and language.
To meet these needs, they provide:
- Support with translation, completion of government forms and benefit claims, for those on low-income or even no-income within their community.
- Cultural and educational classes.
What are they looking for?
- To have an understanding, knowledge, or experience of the charity or non-profit sectors.
- To be able to operate strategically and to work effectively with the Board of Trustees and Centre Director to develop the strategic vision for the charity.
- Work closely with the Centre Director to ensure the smooth running of governance and oversight processes, board meetings, and agendas.
- Where appropriate, the Chair will represent our client at public events organised by and for themselves.
- Support the Centre Director and wider organisation in generating new fundraising opportunities and in identifying and establishing partnerships.

The Commitment:
Being a Chair of the Board is an “Unpaid” role lasting for a minimum of TWO years. You will need to take part in a minimum of four board meetings which will take about six hours in total of your time each year.

We know that thousands of people in need of bereavement support are waiting to access ongoing bereavement support. We are now recruiting for additional volunteers, if you would like to know more about volunteering for this popular service, we would love to see you at our UYBO Open Day.
What will you be doing:
- Presenting and facilitating one off online group sessions for bereaved people with fellow volunteers
- Creating a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to deliver practical bereavement information and guidance
- Facilitating peer engagement in small discussion groups
- Delivering clear messaging for onward signposting
Skills and experience you’ll need:
- Effective listening and communication skills
- Good IT literacy or an ability to learn (training will be provided)
- Access to a computer
- Comfortable talking about grief and death
- Empathetic and warm
- Confident facilitating discussion in a group setting
