Job description

Job Description: Welfare Benefits Adviser

Type of Contract: Fixed term

Hours: 18.5 per week

Actual Starting Salary:  £11,719, depending on experience, plus 3% pension.  Pay review is pending.

Responsible to: Chief Officer.  

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring check.

Location: The post holder will be based at either our Kendal and/or Ulverston offices.  The post holder will provide the service through a variety of channels and locations. Some hours may be worked from home.

Context of role:
South Lakes Citizens Advice provides quality welfare benefits advice to those affected and living with cancer. This work continues to be funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.


The Welfare Benefits Adviser will work with the Macmillan team to deliver a comprehensive, quality and accessible welfare benefits advice service. The post holder will provide the service through a variety of channels at either of our offices, the person’s home, within the hospital setting and/or other venues across the district.
