Job description

We’re now looking for a Fundraising officer to join our team on a full-time, fixed term contact until 31 April 2022.

We are SPEAR, a charity dedicated to helping homeless people in South and West London find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future. For almost 35 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to support homeless people to recover from their personal issues and break down the barriers that they face. We recognise that homelessness is much more than just a housing issue, so we provide a range of accommodation and support services to help people reach their full potential.

This is an exciting time to join SPEAR with plans for marking their 35th year in progress.  This role of Fundraising Officer needs someone with a strong command of spoken and written English, who is experienced at using a PC, is adaptable to online packages and can communicate to a wide range of people.  You do not necessarily need experience in Fundraising as this will be taught to you on the job and through training opportunities, but you need to demonstrate how your academic, employment or volunteer experience meets the Essential Criterial of the role.

This role could suit someone early in their career, or someone who has more experience but is looking for a change of career and wants to get their foot in the door.  There are plenty of opportunities within this role to grow and develop your remit if you are keen and willing to do this.  For this role, you need a positive mindset and self motivation to work alone and in a team.  A large proportion of this role is desk based, but you will also have the opportunity to work at different sites across the organisation and meet different supporters and volunteers, attend events etc.  This role will give you a great insight into working for the Charity Sector and particularly in Fundraising, Communications and Volunteering.

The role will largely be supporting the Senior Trusts Manager and Senior Community Fundraiser but may at times cross over into Communications and Volunteering too.
