The Role

We are seeking passionate Adult Instructors to serve in a uniformed volunteer position, leading on the training, development, and empowerment of cadets within a local London cadet unit. Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.

The volunteer will work on our Mind Within Counselling Service which offers low cost counselling up to 20 sessions of varied modalities. to residents in Spelthorne and residents across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow. Our volunteer will support the Mind Within Counselling team with numerous tasks beginning with the projects administration and triage (once trained).

Main Responsibilities

To work closely with the Mind Within Counselling team and support the service with enquires, & service users to access the service.  

Tasks:

· Answer any queries from both professionals and service users that come through to the Mind Within inbox.

· Triage clients for the service through an onboarding process.  

· Support with follow up surveys for those who have accessed the project and obtained their feedback to improve our services.

· Support the Mind Within Counselling team to promote the service to the local community.

· Liaise with our digital marketing lead to ensure the service is being promoted on social media.

· A willingness to undertake training courses.

· Uphold HFEH Mind values and behaviours.

Type of person we are looking for:

We welcome applications from those completing studies in Psychology, Counselling/Psychotherapy, or any Allied Health Profession with a focus on supporting those with mental health needs. 

However, your attitude, motivation, and commitment are just as important as your training/qualifications, or any previous experience. We will review all applications individually and assess them on their unique merits, so do not be discouraged from applying if you do not meet all the criteria listed below. 

We encourage applications from those with lived experience of mental health problems, as well as those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

Essential:

· An interest in supporting those with mental health needs to access Mind Within Counselling.

· An appreciation of the complex factors that can precipitate, maintain, and exacerbate mental health problems.

· Good oral and written communication skills (including listening skills); the ability to communicate in a patient, considered, and empathetic manner.

· Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to follow administrative procedures.

· A team player who is willing to chip in and work reflexively, responding to the challenges that arise from working in a dynamic environment.

· IT skills – able to update spreadsheets, use web-based applications, video-conferencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

· Experience of supporting people with mental health needs, in a voluntary, paid, or personal capacity (i.e., friends and family).

· Previous involvement with local community groups/networks/feedback groups.

· Awareness of the cultural barriers that may exist to seeking mental health support.

· Able to speak other languages fluently to support the cultural diversity demographics of the boroughs.

Time commitment and expenses:

· 6-12 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), during our core hours of 10AM – 4 PM. Please indicate your preferred volunteering day(s)/time(s) on your application.

· We request a minimum commitment of 8-12 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.   

· We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role .

Become a GamCare Online Peer Supporter

Make a difference by using your own experiences

For over 25 years, GamCare has been there for people experiencing gambling harms, whether that be people who gamble themselves or someone impacted by someone else’s gambling. We offer support over the phone, face-to-face or online and our treatment is free, flexible and confidential.

We are currently recruiting for Online Peer Supporters, to provide one-to-one and group support to both individuals who gamble and those affected by someone else’s gambling. Using their own experiences of gambling-related harms, volunteers will support others digitally as part of our Online Support Services and will include email support as well as facilitating our Forum and Chatrooms.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided to enable you to use your lived experience to work with our team as an Online Peer Supporter, providing support to all of those affected by gambling.

We believe that peer support is essential in the recovery journey. It provides:

• Reduces stigma

• Practical insights and tools
• Continued motivation and hope

Our online platforms are designed to provide social connection to those who could be isolated or feel they have no one else to talk to. People accessing our services have identified that receiving support from someone who has had similar experiences can really benefit them when overcoming the challenges they may face on their recovery journey. It also provides a sense of community and belonging and contributes to the long-term support of those accessing these services.

Training

A comprehensive training programme will be delivered by our Volunteer Coordinators to provide you with the skills and confidence to use your experiences to support others while protecting your own recovery. Training includes:

Role Responsibilities

Online Peer Supporters will:

• Navigate and guide contacts through existing services at GamCare and the National Gambling Support Network.
• Use motivational interviewing skills while drawing from their own lived experience to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for those affected by gambling harms.
• Facilitate discussions via our online support services, including:

Email – you will be paired with an individual for regular email correspondence (on average 1-2 emails per week for approximaely 6 months)
Chatrooms – you will facilitate group discussions and supporting conversation between people at various stages of recovery
Forum – you will initiate discussions, respond to posts, and provide encouragement, signposting and support to forum users

• Help individuals set aims and goals to move to a more positive, sustained recovery whilst also providing resources to support people with these plans.
• Recognise the purpose and remit of our service and signposting to other internal and external support where appropriate.

What can I expect from GamCare?

In return, GamCare will:

Role Requirements

For any of our volunteering roles we ask that you have lived experience of gambling-related harms. This includes being affected by someone else’s gambling (friend or family member).

This role is completely remote, so you’ll need access to a reliable internet connection, a computer and a confidential space.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Trustee and the Treasurer of Trauma Aid UK. The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of the charity, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advising the Board of Trustees on financial matters.  This is not an accounting or book-keeper role and does not require access to bank accounts. 

The Trustee/Treasurer role is to support the financial stability and integrity of our organization. Knowledge of UK legalities surrounding charity financial transactions and the Charity Commission an advantage. The Treasurer is required to be UK based and we request UK citizenship as the evidence of right to work in the UK.  A DBS check will be required. 

As a leading training provider since 2009, we work in partnership with local mental health professionals through training, supervision and advanced workshops to build a network of qualified and experienced therapists who can offer treatment and train others in evidence-based trauma therapy. We are currently working in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Arab Countries. 

Time commitment  : Approximately 9 meetings per year (every 5-6 weeks minus holidays periods and summer)

About 1 hour per month. Working from home but occasional in person Strategy meeting, typically annually and in London (next meeting is January 24th 2026).

- Advisory Role: Provide financial advice to the Board of Trustees on the implications of decisions and initiatives.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Description

Youth Advantage UK (YAUK) is seeking a Volunteer Senior FOI Researcher. The successful candidates will be allocated to lead our FOI Team which supports our research projects nationally and locally by submitting and progressing Freedom of Information Requests. They should have excellent writing and speaking skills, IT literacy, and the ability to work well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee a small team in drafting, submitting and following up FOI requests in addition to supporting the research projects that require such data.

• Ensuring of ethical compliance and high ethical standards

• Coordinating the needs of various research teams with regards to FOI requests as support is required

• Drafting FOI requests: Write precise, legally compliant requests that maximize the chance of disclosure.

• Tracking submissions: Maintain a log of requests, deadlines, and responses to ensure timely follow-up.

• Analyzing responses: Review disclosed information, assess its reliability, and extract insights relevant to the research project.

• Appeals and reviews: Prepare internal review requests or appeals to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if disclosure is refused.

• Collaboration: Work with other teams to align FOI requests with broader research goals.

• Reporting findings: Summarize obtained information and provide the data for progress by specific research teams

Requirements:

• Knowledge of FOI legislation: Understanding of Freedom of Information requests and proven experience in submitting them.

• Communication skills: Excellent writing and speaking skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly.

• IT literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite for drafting, tracking, and reporting.

• Collaboration and independence: Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

• Leadership: Experience of leading a small team, fostering motivation and accountability.

• Attention to detail: Strong organizational skills and accuracy in drafting requests and analyzing responses.

• Time management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
