We have an exciting opportunity for an Individual Giving Officer (Retention) to join the Commercial Directorate at Help for Heroes and play a key role in building long-term supporter relationships that help fund life-changing support for the Armed Forces community. 

About the Role 

As Individual Giving Officer (Retention), you’ll sit at the heart of how Help for Heroes builds long-term, sustainable income. You’ll lead the delivery of multi-channel retention campaigns and fundraising appeals that strengthen supporter relationships, increase lifetime value and ensure our supporters feel valued, informed and inspired to continue their support. 

You’ll own retention activity across cash giving, lottery and regular giving - shaping campaigns from idea through to delivery, optimisation and evaluation. Using insight and performance data to continually refine supporter journeys, test new approaches and ensure every communication adds value to the supporter experience. 

Working closely with the Individual Giving Officer (Acquisition), you’ll help create a seamless journey from first gift to long-term loyalty. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to deliver high-quality, compliant campaigns that reflect the experiences of veterans and their families. 

This role offers real autonomy, variety and influence, with your work directly contributing to a strong, engaged supporter base and long-term income growth.

About You 

You care deeply about the supporter experience and understand that retention is built on trust, relevance and emotional connection. 

You have experience delivering direct response fundraising or engagement campaigns and enjoy seeing how insight, data and creativity come together to drive results. You’re confident managing multiple campaigns, working with stakeholders and suppliers, and motivated by continuous improvement.

This role sits within our newly established Development Team and offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of supporter engagement at Crisis. You will create powerful, emotionally resonant campaigns for our existing supporters, inspiring them to connect with our mission and help end homelessness for good, while contributing to the Development team’s goal of raising £6.8m in income. The role plays a key part in shaping the future supporter experience at Crisis by delivering campaigns that connect people to our mission and inspire them to help end homelessness for good.

About you 

Individual Giving Executive (Development)

Who we are looking for 

Breakthrough T1D is the UK’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, dedicated to funding research, advocating for change, and supporting the T1D community. You will be an enthusiastic person with an eye for detail and the ability to plan, manage and deliver our community events programme. Events are a key opportunity to connect those living with the condition and to share what Breakthrough T1Doffers. 

With experience in delivering events, you may have worked for charities before in similar roles. What you’ll do

As our Senior Website Officer, you’ll take ownership of Anna Freud’s key websites, leading their development, performance and day-to-day management to ensure they are effective, accessible and genuinely useful for the people who rely on them

• Lead and deliver website roadmaps and projects, working with teams across the charity to prioritise, QA and release improvements
• Manage and optimise website content, ensuring pages are accurate, engaging, on-brand and aligned with SEO best practice
• Use analytics, tracking and reporting to understand user behaviour and make data-driven improvements to performance and journeys
• Improve user experience and accessibility through testing, UX/CRO best practice and ongoing optimisation
• Oversee the technical performance of the websites, integrations and workflows, flagging risks and continuously improving ways of working

What you’ll bring

You’re an experienced, hands-on website professional who enjoys owning websites end to end, using insight, testing and strong technical know-how to improve performance, user experience and impact across a complex organisation.

• Strong experience managing and updating websites via a CMS, with the confidence to troubleshoot issues and take day-to-day ownership
• You’re comfortable leading website projects and development work, juggling priorities and working with multiple stakeholders
• Solid knowledge of SEO (on-page and technical), and experience improving search performance through well-planned content and structure
• You’re confident using tools like GA4, GTM and testing platforms, and enjoy turning data into clear insights and decisions
• Experience working with agencies or third parties, and the communication skills needed to keep work moving and expectations aligned

Key details

Camcycle is a bold and influential cycle advocacy charity. Our Communications Officer is responsible for delivering clear, compelling and consistent print, digital and in-person communications to support Camcycle’s campaign work and engage with our varied audiences. They will help to secure and grow our charity’s position as a knowledgeable, trusted voice on local transport, as well as amplifying the voices of local cyclists and potential cyclists across the region.

Building on Camcycle’s 30 years of campaigning expertise and community engagement, the role holder will help to build our archive of local transport knowledge and best practice, collating resources that empower community activists to successfully achieve better walking, cycling and public spaces in their neighbourhoods. They will provide an essential link between grassroots groups and transport decision-makers, helping local people make their voices heard in public meetings and consultations. They will also ensure that cycling policies and infrastructure respond to the existing needs of Cambridgeshire’s communities while being ready for a growing region and a more sustainable, equitable future.
 

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and executing compelling communications campaigns that inspire others and enable them to take action. 

• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including media outlets, creative agencies and suppliers, officers, councillors, community groups and Camcycle members.

• Leading on the redevelopment of the Camcycle website and production of online content including managing our social media channels.

• Developing Camcycle’s profile through media interviews, columns and statements, and working with the team to produce our quarterly magazine.

• Managing weekly email updates to Camcycle members and providing support for member recruitment, fundraising and occasional events.
   

Your skills and experience:

You will have several years’ experience in marketing or communications in a professional and/or voluntary capacity and an excellent understanding of what motivates people to take action. 

With excellent written and spoken communication skills, you will be able to craft compelling copy for a range of audiences and summarise complex subject matter into accessible content which drives supporter engagement and response. Whatever your existing level of experience around sustainable transport advocacy, you’ll be keen to learn and grow in your role as a confident spokesperson for the needs and benefits of cycling.

You’ll have experience using design software such as Adobe Suite or Canva to produce content for print and digital materials, and be bursting with creative ideas about how Camcycle could grow its audience on our social media channels. You’ll be confident speaking in public meetings and on the radio or TV, as well as interviewing local cyclists about their experiences and pitching ideas for organisational improvements and strategies to the staff team and board of trustees.

Community Fundraising

- Identify, engage and steward individual and group supporters, developing strategies to promote fundraising activities and grow income from your local area.

Volunteering

- Work with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager and Volunteering Assistant to recruit, induct and train volunteers to support fundraising and other relevant initiatives in the local community.
