We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Manager to lead the communications and marketing activities for a brand-new locally run youth charity.

Position: Communications and Marketing Manager

Location: Tilbury, Essex (Until the Youth Zone is completed and fully operational you will be based at the temporary offices space at Tilbury Community Association)

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As a key member of the organisation's leadership team, this role offers a clear pathway into senior leadership, providing the opportunity to shape strategic decision-making. This role is your chance to create and deliver an exciting, bold communications strategy that amplifies the voices of young people and brings their stories to life, while raising the Youth Zone’s profile and establishing its reputation with stakeholders across the community.

No two days will be the same, you’ll juggle multiple projects, think on your feet, and thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. From driving digital communications to boosting visibility and reputation, you’ll play a key role, working alongside the wider team to ensure communications supports fundraising, supports strategic goals, and ensures the long-term sustainability of the charity.

You will combine big-picture thinking with a pragmatic and hands-on approach, being comfortable to move between setting direction and actively contributing to execution.

• Planning and delivering strategic communication and creative marketing plans in line with organisational objectives and aims.
• Working with the media and delivering PR and publicity with local and regional media outlets.
• Website management, content development, and delivering engaging digital communications.
• Managing externally funded projects, including budget oversight, monitoring, and evaluation processes.
• Working in young person-focused environments, providing information, advice, guidance, and support.

Digital engagement is evolving, and fast, so that is why we’re looking for a creative, experienced, strategic and data-driven Digital Marketing Manager to lead, develop and grow our digital presence across multiple channels. You'll manage and support our digital ecosystem, including social media, website development, email communications and digital advertising, ensuring every channel delivers measurable results.

Marketing

• Social media management including the creation of a data led strategy and implementation plan for SMK’s channels.
• Manage the planning, creation, and scheduling of multiple marketing projects, ensuring the ‘SMK voice’ through tone and brand is implemented across digital channels.
• Create the vision for the annual SMK National Campaigner Awards social media approach and manage the roll out.
• Write compelling and impactful content for SMK’s digital channels.
• Create graphics and video content for digital channels using Canva.
• Manage paid digital ads (LinkedIn, Google Ads).
• Support the crafting and implementation of email marketing via Mailchimp including audience segmentation.
• Support the audience development strategy including research and data management.
• Identifies opportunities to increase sales (bookings for training/ events), growing reach and engagement.
• Support the development and implementation of a content strategy.

Website

• Support the Head of Marketing and Communications with the relaunch of a new website in 2026/2027.
• Lead on how AI is affecting search (SEO/GEO) and what SMK’s website needs.
• Monitor and translate website performance using analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics).
• Implement and manage on-page SEO/ GEO best practices (keywords, metadata, content optimisation).
• Identify opportunities to improve search visibility and organic traffic.

Data, Insight & Reporting

• Monitor, analyse, and report on digital marketing performance.
• Use data to continuously optimise marketing activity.
• Provide insights into audience behaviour and trends.
• Database management, including cleaning and updating records.
• Support the implementation and management of the CRM (Salesforce).
• Undertake relevant training when required.

The Woodland Trust is looking for an In-Memory Stewardship and Marketing Manager to lead our in-memory giving strategy, create outstanding supporter experiences, and grow income by inspiring legacy giving and maximising gifts in wills opportunities. 

This role is advertised as full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

The Role:

• Lead the development, implementation and embedding of the Woodland Trust's in-memory fundraising strategy.
• Drive growth in in-memory income, achieving strategic income and supporter acquisition targets.
• Design and deliver a gold-standard stewardship programme to strengthen supporter relationships and encourage future legacy giving.
• Collaborate with Communications to develop compelling messaging, storytelling and campaigns that raise awareness of in-memory giving.
• Build and manage relationships with key in-memory supporters, providing personalised stewardship.
• Maximise legacy giving opportunities by promoting gifts in wills and integrating legacy fundraising into supporter journeys.
• Work cross-organisationally to develop innovative in-memory products, including launching new tribute fund initiatives with external partners.
• Use insight, benchmarking and performance reporting to identify trends, evaluate success and inform future development.
• This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working, and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required no more than once a month on average (Possibly more in the first 6 months). Occasional travel to other offices and remote locations may also be required.

The Candidate:

• Demonstrable experience in in-memory giving and legacy giving.
• A background working within the charity sector.
• Proven success in building and stewarding stakeholder relationships.
• A track record of delivering complex, cross-team projects collaboratively.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
• Confidence using CRM systems, with experience of Dynamics 365 being desirable.
• Sound knowledge of project management, including coordinating multiple workstreams.
• A degree in Marketing, Fundraising, or equivalent experience (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence.

The Role

You’ll work closely with foster carers and social work colleagues to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support and improve outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing a multidisciplinary team alongside the Head of Marketing & Communication.
