We are looking for a Support Worker to work as part of a service that provides late-night and early-morning outreach for women who are sex working and supports women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Note: This post is exempt under Sch 9 Pt 1 of the Equality Act 2010 and is only open to female applicants.

Position: Centre Support and Outreach Worker

Salary: £26,800 - 30,800

Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week (Working pattern includes 1 outreach shift per week, which

is carried out between 9 pm and 1 am. Usual working hours are 8.30 am – 4.15 pm)

Contract: Permanent

Location: London, Stockwell

Benefits: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year pro rata, made up of eight bank and public holidays and 27 days annual leave. The 27 days annual leave is normally split between 24 ‘bookable’ days and three closure days that fall between Christmas and the New Year

About the role

The Post Holder will work within Spires’ Women’s Service. This service is comprised of:

A dedicated nighttime outreach service to support women who are involved in street-based sex working. This includes follow up work, casework, and multi-agency working.

Centre-based support for women with complex needs who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This also includes casework and supporting Spires’ Housing and Homelessness team.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Supporting a caseload of clients

· Completing one nighttime outreach shift a week (this is carried out in the Spires car)

· Supporting in the running of Spires’ women’s drop in services

· Supporting Spires’ Housing and Homelessness service where required

· Representing Spires to external stakeholders at multi-agency meetings

· Ensuring detailed and accurate records are kept of all client work.

About you

You will have previous experience of working with people exhibiting complex needs and people experiencing homelessness. Ideally you will have experiencing supporting women with some of the following support needs: substance addiction, mental health needs, domestic violence, no recourse to public funds and sex working.

You will also bring with you the following skills and experience:

· Experience of challenging appropriately and maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries.

· Networking and effectively liaising with specialist service providers or agencies in order to establish and/or improve access to services for clients.

· Sound understanding of the issues faced by women and other individuals involved in sex work.

· Understanding of the legislation around supporting the victims of Domestic Violence.

· Understanding of the effects of trauma on people and how to work in a trauma informed way.

· Good understanding of safeguarding practices in outreach work, social care and/or day centre environment.

· Good understanding of confidentiality and working with sensitive information.

The organisation was established in response to homelessness, which had become a growing concern in Streatham in the late 1980s. Initially providing a hot meal, clothing and advice to those who came for help, they have developed into an organisation that provides a range of services, including the Housing and Homeless Team and Woman’s Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new service opening in Morecambe in March 2024. As a Waking Night Recovery Worker, you will work throughout the night to support those on placement.

As a Waking Night Recovery Worker, you will liaise with clinical teams to discuss referrals and clinical presentation of people using services and make referral decisions based on this. Support individuals who present in a range of ways, including low mood, depression, anxiety, mania, voice hearing, delusions, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts to develop their own coping strategies to deal with crisis situations. Participate in a group work programme to assist people using services to deal with substance abuse, mental or physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.

In the role of HARP Worker you will play an integral part in the team by providing housing advice and support to clients, supporting them to find suitable accommodation to prevent them from rough sleeping. Working alongside volunteers you will provide ongoing support so that clients can manage and sustain their tenancies; encourage clients to become active members in the community by supporting them with issues including mental or physical health, substance misuse or family breakdown. This is a fast paced role working with clients who have a history of criminal justice. 

In this role you will:

• Advocate for clients who have multiple support needs. 
• Support clients to find suitable housing and sustain tenancies.
• Assist clients in improving their life skills.
• Work across multiple boroughs, probation service and a prison.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have had exposure to Criminal Justice or ex-offenders with a flexible approach of resolving housing needs. You will also be self-motivated and adaptable as no two days will be the same. 

The key skills and experience for role are:

• A good knowledge of Criminal Justice and Welfare benefits system.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and meet targets.
• Excellent communication skills with a wide variety of audiences.

Windsor Road is a registered CQC residential care home which offers 11 beds to people experiencing mental ill health. We offer individual one-to-one interventions and sessions such as social anxiety, anxiety, finance and budgeting, positive self-image, building self-esteem, support with diet and nutrition, healthy eating, sleep hygiene, DBT skills, building resilience, life skills, solution-based therapy, stress management etc. We offer a range of activities in our service planner including a daily coffee morning, a ‘here and now’ group, community gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, social inclusion and family and friends’ days.  We support our residents with daily living skills where this is needed, such as support with shopping and cleaning tasks, this could include prompting or supporting alongside them. We also work closely with other agencies and our residents wider care teams, so good communication skills are required. And of course, all of this is recorded on our information management systems, so good record keeping and documentation is also essential. Our service consists of 8 24/7 Recovery Workers, a Service Manager and Registered Manager.

RCLC is a passionate charity which provides education and support for migrant, refugee and asylum- seeking women from minority ethnic communities who may be unable to access more mainstream services because of the educational, social or cultural barriers they face.

We are currently looking for an experienced, empathetic, and motivated woman with an understanding of minority ethnic community issues to work in Reading. We are looking for applicants to work on a 1-year contract (14 hrs per week) who can fluently speak in a second language preferably in one of the following the following: Arabic, Chinese, Bengali, Nepali, Hindi/ Urdu or Pashto or Tigrinya

The Outreach/Development Worker is accountable to the Centre Manager for:

1.  Outreach to identify service users/ learners and their needs.

2.  Working alongside service users/learners to motivate them to take action to improve their mental/physical health and access appropriate resources and services to meet their needs to improve their quality of life.

3.  Liaising and developing appropriate partnerships with community groups and other relevant organisations for referrals and signposting.

This role will require excellent communication skills, experience of giving advice and guidance, signposting vulnerable adults to access services and experience of working with diverse communities

Brendan House is a 24-hour, nonclinical, Short Term Crises Intervention Service. The service provides accommodation for a period of up to six nights, for those with mild to medium mental health problems, who are experiencing a mental health crisis that requires a safe and supportive place to stay, in order to avoid admission to hospital or A&E.  We provide 1-1 daily Support Sessions which are designed to help individuals to work through the period of Crises, identifying relevant coping strategies with professional support, with the view of maintaining wellbeing.
 
We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. 
 
Some relevant experience within a similar role would be beneficial, although full training will be provided. Candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. More important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a variable 24hr rota system and available for on call duties.

Colindale Services are a mental health, care home and supported housing services, working in a recovery model. The services are staffed 24/7 and offer support to our residents aged 18 and upwards to relearn or develop independent living skills. The services apply a strength-based approach; helping individuals using the service to develop resilience, build on natural community supports and social networks, develop life skills and to access community provision and universal services to maintain and maximise their health, wellbeing and independence. The services take into account the significant pressures on the local health and social care system and support our local system in managing system demands effectively whilst ensuring, that the services are maximising opportunities for users of the services to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing in a targeted and effective way.

Right now, our Women’s Supported Housing service in Manchester is looking for someone like you to support the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community. Not only are we committed to putting them at the heart of everything we do, we recognise they should be involved in decisions that affect their future too. That’s why we need you to inspire and support them to lead their own recovery. So, whether it’s helping to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations, developing domestic and finance management skills or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, your empathy, enthusiasm and compassion will have every chance to shine. Entering accurate case notes onto our IT system will be important too. And, when it comes to regularly liaising with GP surgeries, the local council, charities etc. or promoting the service within the community, again, we'll count on you.
 
The chances are, you already work in the mental health field. What is for certain is that you’re caring, consistent, flexible and creative, work well under pressure, know how to connect with people at all levels and, like us, are keen to break down the stigma of mental health.
