Arthritis Action is a registered charity, and company limited by guarantee, whose directors are the members of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the ultimate decision-making body of Arthritis Action, and most of the Board also serve as members of committees or working groups which report to the Board. The Board of Trustees is committed to continually improving its governance of the Charity, and meets as a whole on a minimum of four occasions in each calendar year. For efficient operational purposes, the Board of Trustees is also sub-divided into two working Committees - the Finance & Risk Committee and the Remuneration & Nominations Committee. We are currently looking for Trustees with access to an established professional network, who can advise our growing organisation and support the delivery of our exciting strategy.
In particular, we would welcome new Trustees with the following areas of expertise:

- IT & cybersecurity in the charity sector or small business

The role of the Trustee is to:
- Ensure that:
- you understand Arthritis Action’s purpose and that you are able to explain how all of its activities are intended to further or support its purpose;
- the Charity pursues its purposes and objectives, as defined in its Articles of Association, and does not apply its resources on activities which are beyond the scope of its purposes and objectives;
- the Charity complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations;
- a high standard of governance is maintained at all times;
- the Charity complies with statutory accounting and reporting requirements and is appropriately accountable to members, the Charity Commission and other stakeholders;

CFAB runs the UK’s only professional, free Advice Line dedicated to international child protection, and provides specialist consultancy to help resolve complex international cases. We also advocate for legislation and best practice to meet children’s needs and to ensure families separated by international borders are supported to reunite when this is in the child’s best interests.

A. Public Affairs and Stakeholder Management Trustee Role Description
Role description
The Trustee should:
- provide leadership to the Board in the area of public affairs, policy and stakeholder management. This could include a focus on PR, public affairs, external communications or local government engagement. You do not need to have experience in all areas.
- monitor decisions made at the Board in relation to Public Affairs and Policy work and ensure that they are implemented
- assist in setting the strategy of the organisation and in setting and monitoring performance against targets.
- actively participate as the key member of the sub-committee of the Board
- assist in securing additional exposure of CFAB’s work, particularly through facilitating opportunities with press, guiding digital publications (whether social media or online media opportunities) and amplifying CFAB’s voice with relevant audiences, including local and national government or supporters
As with all Trustees, this Trustee is also responsible for:
- ensuring CFAB complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
- ensuring CFAB pursues its objects as defined in its Articles of Association, and that it uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
- ensuring CFAB operates within the parameters laid down by the CFAB Governance Manual
- safeguarding the reputation and values of CFAB
- ensuring the financial stability of CFAB and its effective and efficient administration

The Trustee should bring to CFAB a skill mix appropriate to the governance of CFAB, including:

C. Commitment
CFAB has four regular Board meetings per year of which one is held concurrent with the AGM. There is also a Marketing committee which meets four times per year, which the Trustee should attend wherever possible. Additional Extraordinary Board meetings may be called as necessary. Other trustees will participate in committees including: Finance & HR, Fundraising and Policy & Practice. Overall time commitment is approximately 2 – 3 hours a month.

The Honorary Treasurer is a key voluntary post within Mountain Training England and the wider network of related mountaineering organisations. As a member of the Board of Trustees, the Treasurer shares the responsibility for overseeing the management of the organisation and implementing the strategic objectives of its members.
The Treasurer has an oversight role over all aspects of financial management, working closely with other members of the Board of Trustees to safeguard the organisation financially. They act as an informed reference point for the Chair and other Trustees.
Although it is the Treasurer’s responsibility to ensure proper financial records and procedures are maintained, much of this work is delegated to the Finance and Audit Sub-committee and paid staff.

Role of Mountain Training England Treasurer
- The Treasurer oversees the financial matters of Mountain Training England in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements of the Charities and Companies Acts and reports both quarterly to the Board and to the Members at three Council meetings per year about the financial health of the organisation.
- The Treasurer ensures that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in place.
- The Treasurer takes the lead on the formulation of policies for finances, reserves and investments.
Specific Responsibilities
- To oversee/verify and present budgets, accounts, management accounts and financial statements to the Board and Members after discussion with the Finance Committee.
- To ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- To ensure that full and accurate accounts and records are kept.
- In conjunction with the Executive Officer maintain sound financial management of MTE’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the charity’s objects.
- To ensure compliance with relevant legislation e.g. Companies and Charity legislation and contractual agreements with external agencies such as funders and statutory bodies
- Chairing the Finance and Audit Committee in line with its terms of reference and reporting back to the Board.
- Present the annual statement of accounts to the Members at the Annual General Meeting.
- To liaise with designated staff about financial matters.
- Advising on the financial implications of MTE’s strategic and operational plan.
- Ensure that the annual accounts are compliant with the current Charities Statement of Recommended Practice.

Commitment
As Treasurer you will chair the Finance & Audit Committee, which meets quarterly. You will also be expected to attend four Board meetings and a minimum of one of three Members’ Council meetings per year. Attendance at the AGM is expected to present the annual statement of accounts to members.
Occasional attendance at MTUKI Council meetings and Finance Planning Group meetings is required.
Term
Trustees serve for a maximum of three years and are re-elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. At the end of the first three-year term of office Trustees are eligible for re-election for one further term of three years. From time to time the positions of Treasurer, Vice-Chair and Chair become subject to renewal. The Trustees nominate these positions from the Board and the Council votes to approve them at the AGM.
Expenses
Reasonable travel, parking and subsistence expenses are paid to Trustees, in line with MTE expenses policy.

The Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (DCF) is a registered charity that improves lives and empowers communities across Derbyshire through cricket. What’s involved?
As a Trustee of the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation you share ultimate responsibility for governing a charity and directing how it is managed and run, but the roles are largely “eyes-on, hands-off”, as our members of staff manage the day-to-day operational business of the DCF.
We have six Board meetings a year, typically of 2.5 hours duration. Board meetings are held on midweek evenings, start at 5.30pm, and are usually hosted at the Derbyshire CCC Central Co-Op County Ground in Derby. All our Board meetings have a hybrid format, so that Trustees can attend remotely via Teams if they need that flexibility.
Trustees are also expected to be a member of one of our Board committees, which will be aligned with their areas of interest or experience. This will typically involve attending a further 1-2 meetings per year. There may be further opportunities for Trustees to support our work or events, but we appreciate that the role is a voluntary commitment and respect that our Trustees will need to balance their time with other commitments.
The role is voluntary and unpaid. Trustees are initially appointed for a 3 year term, with an option to serve a further two terms, up to a maximum of 9 years. A comprehensive induction will be provided for new Trustees, to ensure they have good understanding of the role and the DCF business.

Trustees of The Advocacy Academy play a unique role in delivery of our mission. They are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation, represent it to the community, and accept ultimate compliance authority for the charity and its activities. As a Trustee with experience in the UK’s youth sector, you will support the Board and the Executives in ensuring that TAA continues to deliver an exceptional quality of youth work, and the role that safeguarding plays in achieving this. As a trustee:
- Work with the Chair, Trustees and Senior Leadership team to ensure there is a clear, long-term and strategic vision The Advocacy Academy.
- Work with the Board to ensure we function within the legal and financial requirements of a UK registered charity and company, our constitution and that we strive for best practice
- Take responsibility with the other trustees so that the organisation has effective practice to safeguard the people it works with
- Act as an ambassador, spokesperson and champion our work supporting our income activities, and fostering networks that can help generate income.
About Our Board of Trustees
- Our Board currently consists of four members, recruited, selected, and approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Each trustee serves a three-year term, and we are made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
- The Board meets quarterly (four times per year) to provide strategic oversight and governance. Operations/day to day are managed by the Executives.
- Given the size of the board, we expect all trustees to join at least one subcommittees meeting per year, unless there are extenuating circumstances. .The subcommittee meets are typically held prior to full Board meetings.
- Board meetings are held at our Liberation Centre in Brixton and subcommittee meets are held virtually
- The role of trustee is voluntary, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed.2• Trustees are expected to prepare in advance by reading reports and meeting papers, and are also warmly invited to attend our events throughout the year.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Finance Trustee - Trustee will provide charity financial governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Finance Director and the Finance & Risk Committee will:
- Provide support on financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant charity and regulatory requirements.
- Review and co-present financial reports and key insights to the Board of Trustees.
- Actively participate in the Finance and Risk Committee, ensuring effective financial scrutiny.
- Strategic contribution to long-term financial and fundraising planning and support the organisation’s risk management framework.
- Attend Finance and Risk subcommittee meetings quarterly.
2. Community Organising and Campaigning Trustee - The Community organising and campaigning Trustee will provide organising and Campaigns governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Director of Organising and Campaigns and fellow trustees, they will:
- Provide strategic oversight of The Advocacy Academy’s organising and campaigning activities and priorities.
- Ensure campaigns are ethical, legally compliant, and aligned with the organisation’s values.
- Support the development of effective, youth-led organising and campaigning strategies.
- Offer insight into advocacy trends, movement-building, and political landscapes.
- Serve as a sounding board for the team, offering critical friend feedback without operational interference.
- Help the board assess risks and opportunities related to public positioning, reputation, and partnerships.
- Good governance, diversity and teamwork are at the core of the Board’s values. We want to ensure trustees represent the young people we work with and we are particularly interested in applications from people with lived experience.
3. Legal Trustee - The Legal Trustees will provide Legal perspective on governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Trustees, they will:
- Provide strategic legal perspective on compliance with charity law, employment law, using legal knowledge or by signposting to our external legal support.
- Provide legal perspective on any strategic decisions the board makes, which the board can then pursue formal legal advice on.

EXPECTATIONS & ENTITLEMENT

- Attend trustee meetings, which are held four times a year in London or virtually, and last between 3 expected to attend at least three each year.
- Participate in one of our sub-committees as may be required by the trustee role.
- Demonstrate commitment to The Advocacy Academy by supporting fundraising efforts.
- Serve for a term of three years and be able to stand for re-election for a further term and possibly two.

Overview of the Branch Treasurer opportunity
We are looking for someone to volunteer as a Branch Treasurer for the London South East Branch. This role would play a vital role in supporting the Branches affairs so that it is governed and managed effectively, whilst continually having animal welfare at the forefront of their mind.
As a minimum, trustees would generally attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

Founded in 1824, we have been saving animals for 200 years and are proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
The RSPCA London South East Branch
The London South East Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
The London South East Branch has two retail shops (Sydenham Road and Norwood Road) and supports the work of the Inspectorate through rehoming of animals within the branch area.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Treasurer

Implement and maintain sound financial systems.

Take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and plan the branch income and expenditure.

Provide a written financial report for every branch meeting.

Liaise with auditors/independent examiners regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer’s report.

BEING A TRUSTEE
As with any charity, trustees have overall responsibility for making sure it is running well and is doing what it was set up to do. This includes ensuring the charity:

· Continues to meet our commitments to the communities we serve in accordance with our charitable objectives

A NEW TREASURER
Our current Treasurer has been serving on the Board since 2021 and has supported the organisation through a difficult economic climate and has helped shape and improve the way in which trustees monitor income and spend through a system of key performance indicators that are reported on. His commitment, time and financial knowledge he has brought to the role has been valued and made our financial reporting more robust over the years. Upon stepping down the incumbent is willing to support the incoming treasurer over a period of time to ensure a smooth transition into the organisation.
We are therefore seeking an experienced and committed individual to join the Board and take up the role of Treasurer. Ideally someone who lives or works in the borough but more importantly has an understanding of charity finances and has possibly had a previous role as Treasurer.
The Treasurer Role primarily is as follows:

THE COMMITMENT
The Treasurer will need to commit to attending a total of 8 Board/Sub Committee meetings a year as well as spending a few hours each month on attending additional internal meetings with CEO/Director of Operations/Chair on financial matters.

Other considerations to be aware of that can prevent becoming a trustee
· Conflicts of interest. All potential conflicts should be discussed with the Chair or the CEO prior to applying
· Confirmation that the trustee is not disqualified from holding a trusteeship
· People under the age of 18, unless the charity is a registered company
· Anyone convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty unless the conviction is spent
· Anyone who is an undischarged bankrupt
· Anyone who has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the Court or the Commissioners
· Anyone who is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1996
· In certain cases, the Charity Commission has the power to grant a waiver and allow a person disqualified from trusteeship, under section 72 (1) of the Charities Act 1993 to accept a trustee post. We only agree in those cases where the charity can clearly demonstrate that the waiver is in the best interests of the charity
What happens next?
Once we receive your application, it will be assessed based on what we are looking for as specified above and you will be notified of the outcome. If invited to interview you will meet a panel of 3 which includes two trustees and the CEO. If successful we will invite you to observe a board meeting in action before confirming with you whether you would like to join the board. If appointed, we will organise a tour of the office to meet the staff and agree any necessary training required.

We are recruiting two new Trustees to join our Board with expertise in fundraising and communications/marketing. We welcome applications from candidates with strong experience in either area, or those with skills spanning both disciplines.
These voluntary roles require committed individuals who can contribute their time, expertise, insights, and passion for helping WeSwim achieve its goals in empowering adults with disabilities to get active, connect with others and build lasting confidence. Successful candidates will have a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of disabled people across London.
WeSwim is a small charity in start-up mode which achieved charitable status from the Charity Commission in 2024 and currently has three Trustees on its Board.
Key Responsibilities
We are particularly seeking trustees who can lead in these priority areas:
Fundraising Leadership

Identify, lead and drive fundraising initiatives to secure sustainable financial resources for WeSwim
-
Develop and implement fundraising strategies, particularly focusing on corporate sponsorship
-
Build relationships with potential funders and sponsors
Communications & Marketing Leadership
-
Design and deliver a communications plan to help WeSwim achieve its objectives
-
Enhance connections with swimmers, volunteers, sponsors and the wider community
-
Develop marketing strategies to raise WeSwim's profile and reach
All trustees will also be involved in these core governance responsibilities (no prior experience necessary):

Governance: Ensure WeSwim complies with its governing documents, charity law, and other relevant legislation or regulations

Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial health of WeSwim, including approval of budgets and financial statements

Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for WeSwim, promoting its work and raising its profile within the community and beyond, especially within the disability community
-
Risk Management: Identify and manage risks to ensure WeSwim's sustainability and success
-
Collaboration: Work closely with fellow trustees, the CEO, staff, and volunteers to ensure effective team dynamics and operational efficiency
Experience & Skills
Essential requirements for all applicants:

Personal experience of disability: either have a disability yourself, or have a close family/friend connection who is disabled

Commitment to WeSwim's mission and values
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or both of these areas:
Fundraising Skills:
-
Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies across multiple channels
-
Corporate partnership development and sponsorship negotiation experience
-
Individual donor cultivation and stewardship experience
-
Experience with fundraising events and community engagement activities
-
Relationship-building and networking abilities with corporate, foundation, and individual prospects
-
Ability to identify new funding opportunities and diversify income streams
Communications & Marketing Skills:
-
Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
-
Content creation and storytelling skills, particularly for charity/impact narratives
-
Digital marketing expertise including social media management and online engagement
-
Brand development and messaging experience
-
Media relations and PR experience (traditional and digital media)
-
Understanding of accessible communications for diverse audiences
The following additional skills are helpful but not essential:

Leadership experience in governance roles, ideally within a charity or non-profit organization
-
Financial acumen and understanding of budget oversight
-
Strategic thinking and ability to contribute to long-term planning
-
Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
