Veterans Community Occupational Therapist
Location: Remote working
We have two positions available – one based in the North of England and one based in the South of England.
- North: Preferably based in North-West England, including Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool and surrounding areas.
- South: Preferably based in Salisbury or the surrounding areas.
We are open to candidates who live further afield, where the location is within a reasonable travelling distance for the community-based requirements of the role.
Both positions involve community-based travel as part of the role, as well as occasional UK-wide travel to attend face-to-face clinical and wider team meetings (approximately 4–5 times per year).
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterans Community Occupational Therapist to join the Services team at Help for Heroes and play a key role in supporting veterans and their families to access the right clinical and functional support, helping them live well after service.

About You
Are you a committed, Registered Occupational Therapist, with more than two years’ experience, looking to expand your skills and have the opportunity to work with the Armed Forces Community? If you have an understanding of and empathy with the requirements of veterans and their families, you could contribute your skills and experience to improve the quality of life for our beneficiaries.
About the Role
As a Veterans Community Occupational Therapist, you will:

Provide community-based occupational therapy input to veterans, supporting their physical health, independence and day-to-day functioning.

Work with veterans and, where appropriate, their families and support networks to assess needs and identify practical, person-centred solutions.

Support veterans to navigate healthcare and support pathways, promoting independence and wellbeing.

Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside Community Nurses and other professionals.

Contribute to education, outreach and engagement activity to support the Armed Forces Community.

About the Team
You will be joining the clinical team at Help for Heroes, providing community-based support to the Armed Forces Community across either North or South England.The team works collaboratively as a multidisciplinary group of Occupational Therapists and Community Nurses, finding resourceful ways to deliver care that is right, fair and tailored to each individual.
Our aim is to champion the Armed Forces Community as they transition to civilian life, working together as one team to support long-term health, independence and wellbeing.

Use your clinical skills, compassion and rehabilitative approach to help people receive specialist hospice care at home.
At Princess Alice Hospice, we support people through life, death and grief across the London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and large parts of Surrey. We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Hospice at Home team, supporting patients in the comfort of their own homes.

As our Senior Occupational Therapist, you will take a holistic approach to supporting patients’ physical, psychological, social and cognitive needs. Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan and deliver personalised interventions, promoting a rehabilitative and enablement-focused approach to care.
You will build meaningful relationships with patients, families and carers, using advanced communication skills to support people through challenging and sensitive situations. Working alongside colleagues and external partners, you will help ensure patients are supported to remain in their preferred place of care wherever possible.

What you will bring as Senior Occupational Therapist:
· Experience as an Occupational Therapist, with the confidence to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

· Strong communication skills, including the ability to support patients, families and carers in sensitive situations.
· A commitment to rehabilitation, enablement and helping people remain in their preferred place of care wherever possible.
· The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, external partners and community services.
· A compassionate approach and commitment to delivering high-quality hospice care in line with our values.
