Job description

20 hours per week - Watford/Hemel Hempstead based

– criminal exploitation/offending transition –

Transitions UK is an exciting and growing charity, initially working across Herts, Beds & Bucks, specifically set up to address the needs of a “lost generation” of 15-25-year olds. We work with young people with learning disabilities, mental health & emotional issues, young people leaving care and those at risk of exploitation/offending.

You will further develop and drive forward this exciting and innovative community-based project, part funded by The National Lottery and already running for three years, including spearheading the new hub in Hemel Hempstead. You will have primary responsibility, supported by our FT Project Manager, to provide a mentoring and befriending service to young people aged 13-21 years who are at risk of criminal exploitation or offending.

The role runs across two hubs – in Watford and Hemel Hempstead – there are two other hubs in Enfield and Stevenage. Within each hub we run “Prevent” for 7-8 13-17-year olds and “Restart” for 3 18-21-year olds. You will support 20 young people and recruit and deploy 30+ volunteers as mentors, both younger and older adults.

You are an excellent organiser, team leader and communicator with a hands-on approach. From experience, you are able to work sensitively and effectively with young people who have personal challenges and need support - so you will provide a quality response to the challenge further developing this project. You will be well supported by an experienced high-quality Board with personal support from your Project Manager. You will be excited by the opportunities in this role and growing charity, and determined to achieve excellent results for the young people we support.
