About Refugee Employment Network
The Refugee Employment Network (REN) unites non-profits, local authorities, and businesses to improve employment access for refugees across the UK. As the only national membership network focused solely on refugee employment, REN works to ensure that all refugees can pursue fulfilling, paid work or self-employment.
What will you be doing?
Join REN as Treasurer and play a key role in guiding the organisation’s strategic direction and financial sustainability. REN’s financial operations, including payroll, are managed externally, so the Treasurer’s input is primarily at a governance and advisory level rather than day-to-day financial administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on REN’s financial strategy, planning, and resource allocation.
- Ensure the Board receives clear and timely financial updates, including Annual Accounts.
- Oversee the preparation of accounts in line with funder and statutory requirements.
- Recommend and monitor effective financial controls, procedures, and policies.
- Lead on the appointment and review of external auditors.
- Collaborate with the CEO to support financial planning and delivery of goals.
- Ensure compliance with funder conditions and financial reporting obligations.
- Provide oversight of financial risks and identify opportunities to strengthen REN’s financial position.
- Lead Board-level discussions on financial matters and contribute to policy on reserves, investments, and financial governance.

Essential:

Westminster is a city of contrasts, the seat of monarchs, the mother of parliaments and home to an ethnically diverse population. However, amongst the palaces, grand buildings and affluent residential areas there exist pockets of extreme deprivation. The remit of the Charity is the relief of need and it carries out its objects through 2 grants programmes, distributing annually approximately £200,000, of which £150,000 is distributed to front-line charities dealing directly with their own beneficiaries and the balance, via referring agencies, to individuals. Grants to organisations cover the areas of addiction, children & youth, community, the elderly, health and disability and homelessness. Grants to individuals are capped at £500 and are awarded for clothing, essential household items such as furniture, white goods and kitchen equipment and floor coverings.
Westminster Amalgamated Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which affords the Trustees limited liability whilst keeping the Charity solely under the umbrella of the Charity Commission.
We are looking to recruit a number of Trustees to the Board. An interest in and a knowledge of the Borough of Westminster is desirable but not essential.
Being a Trustee of Westminster Amalgamated Charity is an exciting and challenging role, bringing with it opportunities for applying strategic thinking, finance, planning, creativity, and stewardship which can help guide the Charity to achieve its goal. Our Trustees give their time voluntarily and the positions are unremunerated, but reasonable out of pocket expenses may be allowable.

About Access Academia
Access Academia is the charitable umbrella which was created out of the creation of the student-led publication, the Journal of Intersectional Social Justice. When Journal of Intersectional Social Justice (JISJ) was created, there were not any expectations for the project to be any more than that: a student-led academic publication. However, as it rolled on, attention for the project widened and it began to cover other topics and get involved in other realms of knowledge sharing, activism, and content creation. The creation of the seminal Access Series on the Intersections blog springboarded the idea for the JISJ to turn into something much more than a simple academic publication. Now as we have restructured the JISJ into Access Academia, we are finalising our official registration as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) in the UK.
Our core purpose is to Make Academia More Accessible. We plan to accomplish this by many different avenues, as obviously it is a very wide-ranging goal! Every student who enrols at Oxford Brookes University is automatically a member of the union, meaning that our membership is both diverse, and constantly changing.
Like any charity, the key to our success is strong governance. What makes students’ unions unique is that we actively centre the lived-experience of our members at all levels of the organisation including the Trustee Board. Our Trustee Board is constituted of both students and external trustees, and four of the student trustees are elected annually by the membership to lead the organisation as employees. Brookes Union also has a small staff team of around 18 members of staff, who work to facilitate the officers in achieving their goals and supporting students through community building and representation activity.
Our Board meets in-person quarterly (3-5pm on a Thursday, in Oxford) with online sub-committee meetings at different intervals. We also love it when trustees get more involved in the organisation - attending our awards ceremonies or just getting stuck in.
Being a member of a trustee board can be a hugely rewarding opportunity, and we are looking for people who are passionate about developing and supporting young people. Like other volunteer roles, you will get out of this experience what you put in, so we welcome applications from people who are able to give us their time and in return we offer:

About You:
We're looking for for two trustees.
We are looking for an external trustee with a strong background in any of the following to support our current Treasurer:
- Finance and risk
- Commercial expertise and income generation
Whilst not essential it would be advantageous if you had some experience of finance within either a Higher Education or Students’ Union context.
We are also seeking a trustee with experience of any of the following:
- Community organising or building
- Lobbying / campaigning
- Higher Education / Students’ Unions
- Student engagement
The Board membership changes every year as our elected student members are replaced, so we are looking for trustees who anticipate being able to remain actively engaged with the Board throughout the entirety of the advertised term. Our student trustees tend to have little to no previous experience at Board level, so we are looking for trustees who are able to coach and mentor these Board members whilst also discharging their own duties. Some experience of being a trustee is preferred.
However, we’re also very happy to hear from anyone who is interested in joining our Board - your motivation for joining and passion for leading with impact is equally as important as your skills and experience.
Trustee roles are unremunerated, though we can pay reasonable expenses as well as provide an induction and training programme. We are dedicated to ensuring that our Board meetings are inclusive and would be very happy to discuss any accessibility arrangements that would better suit the right candidate.

About the role
We are looking for a Community Engagement and Co-Production Volunteer to support our Connect and Offload (CandO) Helpline in Gloucestershire. You will be based within the county of Gloucestershire and, ideally, you will be able to commit 5 hours every two weeks to volunteering.
This is very much a ‘hands on’ promotional volunteering opportunity. You will be volunteering within our Community Engagement and Co Production team attending local events and attending key stakeholder meetings, with a view to promoting the Helpline and encouraging people to access support. You will also be interacting directly with service users to help identify ways in which we can improve the support we provide within Gloucestershire.

About the service
Our service provides emotional support, information and signposting for any adult, living in Gloucestershire who would like support with their mental wellbeing. The service is available every day of the year between 2pm and 9pm. The service is confidential and promises a safe space in which people can talk freely about their mental wellbeing.

With a refreshed 3-year strategy (23-26), “A Wilder Herefordshire, More Nature Everywhere” we’re working hard to recover nature at scale through deeper collaborations, working with local community organisations and networks to develop a clear plan for nature’s recovery. We are also working with neighbouring Wildlife Trusts, river partnerships and national partners such as the Woodland Trust, National Trust, and Duchy of Cornwall.

My Life My Say exists to empower underrepresented youth to engage in politics, influence policy, and drive change through innovative, youth-led and non-partisan solutions, inspiring the next generation of leaders in democracy.
We are currently hiring for a new Chairperson to replace the outgoing Chair who has served for the last 6 years. It is an ideal opportunity to steer the transition of the charity at a time when their Founding CEO has become Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy, and we have appointed an interim leadership structure with two promising Co-CEOs.
The new Chair will come in to support the charity on a new journey. There is funding in place but there is an opportunity to create a new 5-year plan that will:

The Role
The role of the Chair will be to ensure the professional running of the Board of Trustees, meeting quarterly to enable the governance of the charity. The role also includes mentoring of the management team to enable them to meet their potential and to allow the charity to thrive under their leadership.
There is an ambassadorial dimension too, seeking to represent the charity when meeting donors, funders, notable politicians, and influencers to underline the quality, integrity, and potential of the charity.
The final responsibility is to lead the assembled trustees to act as a force multiplier to affect the mission of the charity.

Candidates for the Chair role will have:

FoBV is seeking four new Trustees to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Friends of Bennerley Viaduct (FoBV) at a very exciting time in the life of this organisation.
About us:
Bennerley Viaduct, known locally as the ‘Iron Giant’, is one of only two wrought iron railway viaducts remaining in the UK. It was built in 1877 by the Great Northern Railway Company but was closed to rail traffic in 1968. It is now a Grade II* monument, beloved in the area.
Saved from demolition following a public enquiry in 1980 the Bennerley Viaduct stood dormant for 40 years until 2020. In 2020 FoBV was formed as a CIO to bring together the community that was interested in this structure and its surrounding environment. FoBV have since worked in partnership with the owners of the viaduct, Railway Paths Limited (RPL), and funders to restore the viaduct for public access and bring it to life with a programme of activities.
FoBV now lease the viaduct from RPL and has successfully attracted funding for the restoration of the viaduct and activity programmes from NHLF, Severn Trent Community Fund, World Monuments Fund amongst many others. FoBV has also worked in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council to secure funding to deliver a new visitor centre, café and accessible ramp for the viaduct as part of the Kimberley Town Bid.
We now need to strengthen the existing Board of Trustees to oversee this next stage of the life of the ‘Iron Giant’ as we complete the new visitor centre and its fully accessible eastern ramp. We are looking for Trustees specifically with skills in Marketing & social media, Fundraising & Grants, Hospitality sector and Learning.
What does it Involve?
As a member of the board of trustees, you’ll be involved in:
· Setting the FoBV’s strategic direction, setting goals/targets and monitoring progress
· Ensuring the effective and efficient administration and financial stability of FoBV and its assets
· Joining a sub-committee or working group of the board based on your skills and experience and contribute to delivering identified priorities
· Ensuring FoBV complies with its constitution, charity law, and other relevant legislation or regulations
· Contributing to the appointment, support and monitoring of staff and volunteers
· Safeguarding the reputation and values of FoBV
· Building relationships with stakeholders, members and supporters
· Occasionally representing FoBV at events and acting as a spokesperson
What is FoBV looking for?
We don't expect you to bring lots of previous experience as a trustee, but to be successful as a trustee you are likely to have:

· Commitment to FoBV vision, values and strategy
· Able demonstrate knowledge and experience of the skillsets that we are looking for.
· Proven strategic thinking ability combined with ability to be ‘hands on’ with issues.

· Trustees are required to attend six board meetings a year and offer support to the charity as and when required. Trustees are expected to contribute to other aspects of running the charity where their skills, experience and time commitments allow it.
