Job description

Volunteer Community & Outreach Support Opportunity

Are you a natural connector with a passion for community building? Do you believe in the power of engaging local communities to create positive change for young people in London?

Urban Youth is a new charity being established to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive and reach their full potential. We're currently in the crucial setup phase, and we need your help to connect with the heart of London's communities.

We're looking for a dedicated Volunteer for Community & Outreach Support to help us understand the needs of young people and build initial relationships. This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, helping to lay the groundwork for our future impact.

What will you do?

In this vital role, you'll help us forge important connections as we get Urban Youth off the ground.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Needs Assessment Support: Helping to gather information about the specific needs and challenges faced by young people in our target London boroughs. This might involve desk research or identifying local reports.

  • Initial Networking: Assisting with identifying and making first contact with potential community partners, such as local councils, schools, existing youth services, community centres, and other relevant organisations.

  • Community Mapping: Helping to identify key areas, facilities, and existing provisions for young people within specific London neighbourhoods.

  • Basic Social Media Presence: Supporting the initial setup of our social media profiles and drafting introductory posts to announce Urban Youth's mission and presence, helping us start building an online community.

Who are we looking for?

We need someone who is not only passionate about our cause but also brings enthusiasm for engaging with people and communities.

You should be:

  • Community-Minded: Genuinely interested in understanding and connecting with diverse communities.

  • Good Communicator: Comfortable with initial outreach and able to represent Urban Youth positively.

  • Resourceful: Able to identify and research potential contacts and community assets.

  • Familiar with Social Media: Understands how to use social media platforms for basic communication and outreach.

  • Reliable & Proactive: Someone who can take initiative and manage tasks independently.

  • Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, can often be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up.

This is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but it offers invaluable experience in charity setup, community engagement, and the satisfaction of contributing directly to a cause that will empower countless young lives.

Ready to help us build strong community connections?

If you're eager to lend your skills to Urban Youth during this exciting startup phase, we'd love to hear from you!

Let's work together to create a brighter future for urban youth!
