About Alexandra Rose Charity
We should all be able to eat healthy food. But right now, healthy options cost more than twice as much as junk food. It’s getting harder and harder for people to put good food on the table. In fact, the poorest fifth of UK households would need to spend 50% of their disposable income to eat the UK Government’s recommended healthy diet. Access to a choice of high quality, culturally appropriate fruit & veg is an essential building block for our mental and physical health. We need to put this right. We’re on a mission to give people access to their choice of fresh fruit & veg, in the heart of their community. At Alexandra Rose, we are proud to deliver a mix of practical, place-based projects and national advocacy to shape a fairer future, where everyone can afford and enjoy fresh fruit & veg with dignity. If this aligns with how you see the world, and you want to use your skills and experience to help us build towards it, you’ll feel at home here.
About the role
Alexandra Rose collects and uses a wide range of data to help us run our programmes, understand our impact and influence policy change. We have developed monitoring, reporting and evaluation systems that help us track programme delivery, make informed decisions and demonstrate the difference our work makes to the diets, health and wellbeing of adults and children. We are looking for a proactive and analytical Data and Insights Officer with a keen eye for detail, who thrives on improving data quality, analysing complex information and generating insights that support decision-making across an organisation. You will play a key role in improving Alexandra Rose's data systems and reporting. Working across programme and evaluation data, you will help clean and analyse data, develop dashboards and reports, generate insights for use both internally and for our external partners. You will work closely with our technical partner and distributing centres to ensure that data is reliable, our reporting is robust and our projects can continue to grow effectively.
We want our organisation to reflect the diversity of the communities we work in, and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds.
N.B This role is mainly remote with requirement to travel to meetings across the UK.
Use of AI in applications
We recognise that candidates may choose to use AI tools to support aspects of their application, such as grammar, formatting, or drafting. We understand that using AI tools in this way can help you express your strengths more clearly. However, your final submission must be a genuine, accurate reflection of your own skills, experience, and understanding of the role. To support integrity and transparency in our recruitment process, we ask that you include a brief note explaining where and how AI tools were used in your application. Applications that appear overly generic, inconsistent with interview performance, or rely heavily on generative AI without clear attribution may raise concerns during the selection process.
Please submit your CV and cover letter through the Charity Jobs Portal only. We use anonymous recruitment applications sent by email will not be included in the selection process.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we may close the vacancy ahead of
the advertised deadline if sufficient suitable applications are received. We encourage
interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.

About us
We are a long-established UK research institution with charitable status and accounting operations in both the UK and East Africa. With an annual turnover of over £1 million, our finances span two entities and a range of restricted and unrestricted funds, consolidated for reporting. We are looking for a qualified accountant to join us as a contractor in a part-time, ongoing capacity to strengthen the running of our finance function.
The role
Our accountant in the East Africa office handles the day-to-day transactions — raising invoices, recording expenses and paying supplier bills. You will work alongside them, providing the qualified oversight, payment control and monthly discipline that keep the finance function running well, and supporting their development along the way.
It is a varied role that combines hands-on accuracy with oversight and coaching. In practice, you will:
• Support, guide and coach our accountant so that accounting entries are made correctly and consistently, building their skills over time.
• Run payment preparation and approval process in the UK entity, approving payment runs for release by local signatories.
• Financial management of project funds: accounting, expense management, funds transfers and accurate financial reporting.
• Review monthly results and report, examining the Statement of Financial Activities and underlying entries, and tracking performance against budget.
• Own the budgeting process, maintaining and updating the existing annual budget and monitoring it each month, and reporting quarterly to funders.
• Run a reliable monthly close and provide cover for our accountant during leave or absence to keep the accounting running.
• Lead on risk, taking an active interest in risk assessment, management and internal financial controls, working with compliance officer for local regulatory compliance.
• Attend and co-ordinate the finance and development meeting, support Companies House and Charity Commissions returns and updates.
• Administrative support for grant applications and management of these.
Key requirements
• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA), or a finalist with strong relevant experience.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Proficient in Xero, and either proficient in Joiin or a similar consolidation system such as Hyperion and able to learn it quickly. Familiarity with payment platforms (desirable).
• Sound understanding of payment controls, dual authorisation and segregation of duties.
• Experience of maintaining a budget and reviewing monthly performance against it.
• Detail-focused and hands-on, with the judgement to review, oversee and coach a colleague.
• Charity or non-profit experience is useful but not essential, including experience of managing project funds, expenses and reporting to funders.
What does success look like
In this role, success means:
• Accounting is accurate and correctly recorded across both entities.
• Monthly review and reporting is completed reliably and on time.
• The budget process is mastered and embedded in monthly reporting, with performance tracked against budget categories.
• Dual authorisation of key processes is operating successfully.
• Key processes in both entities are learnt, so you can cover for the East Africa accountant in the event of absence.
• The payment process is smooth, reviewed, and presented to the Director for second approval.
• Risk assessment is formalised and internal financial controls are maintained.
Who it suits
This role would suit an accountant who wants to broaden their range of experience, or an experienced accountant from the commercial or non-profit sector who now wishes to work part-time and contribute to the smooth running of a respected institution.
Our systems
We use Xero for our accounting and Joiin for consolidated reporting. Both are already implemented and stable. Proficiency in Joiin is ideal; otherwise, experience of a similar system and a readiness to learn this software quickly is an advantage.
How to apply
Please send your CV with a short covering note explaining your interest and how your experience fits the key requirements above. We will review applications on a rolling basis and may close early if we find the right candidate.

It acts as a key link between global health civil society and government departments such as the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the Department of Health and Social Care, guided by its 10 health-equity principles.
AfGH is an independent network hosted by STOPAIDS, which provides legal, financial, HR, and administrative support.

About HOST
HOST supports climate and social change initiatives around the world by providing project hosting, operational infrastructure, and grantmaking support. We work alongside activists, organisers, and movements across climate and social justice, helping them operate safely, sustainably, and effectively in complex environments.
As our organisation grows, so does the need for practical, accessible legal support. Our Legal function helps ensure that HOST operates safely, compliantly, and in line with our values, while enabling partners and teams to make informed decisions with confidence.
About the Role
We're looking for a qualified Legal Counsel to join our growing Legal team. Reporting to the Legal Lead, you'll provide practical legal advice across a broad range of matters, including contracts, governance, compliance, risk management, and organisational policies.
This is a hands-on role that combines legal expertise with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach. You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation, many of whom are not legally qualified, helping them navigate legal issues and understand risk in a clear and accessible way.
As a relatively new function within HOST, the Legal team is continuing to develop its processes, systems, and ways of working. You'll play an important role in shaping these foundations, improving legal workflows, developing templates and guidance, and exploring how legal technology and AI tools can support efficient service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and applying sound legal judgement within a mission-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Contracts and Legal Advice
Review, draft, negotiate and approve a wide range of contracts and agreements.
Maintain and improve legal templates and precedents.
Provide practical, risk-based legal advice to colleagues across the organisation.
Manage legal requests through a structured and auditable process.
Liaise with external legal advisors when specialist expertise is required.
Risk, Due Diligence and Compliance
Working alongside the Legal Lead, you will:
Assess higher-risk matters, including sanctions, safeguarding, governance, employment and data protection issues.
Support organisational risk management processes.
Ensure legal considerations are appropriately aligned with operational and financial processes.
Maintain clear and proportionate risk records.
Legal Operations and Governance
Support the implementation of legal technology and AI-enabled tools to improve contract management and legal workflows.
Develop and maintain policies, guidance documents and legal resources.
Embed efficient legal processes across the organisation.
Contribute to governance and compliance initiatives.
Support continuous improvement of the Legal function.
About You
Essential
Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
Strong grounding in English contract law.
Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating and interpreting a wide range of agreements.
Excellent judgement and ability to provide balanced, pragmatic legal advice.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences.
Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Previous in-house legal experience.
Desirable
Experience working within the charity, non-profit or social impact sector.
Knowledge of charity law and governance frameworks.
Experience using legal technology and AI tools to support legal operations.
Familiarity with GDPR, data protection and privacy matters.
Understanding of employment law, contractor arrangements and international workforce considerations.
Knowledge of sanctions, compliance and risk management frameworks.
Experience supporting organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions.
What We're Looking For
Collaborative and approachable.
Pragmatic and solutions-focused.
Comfortable balancing legal accuracy with operational realities.
Confident advising managers and colleagues who may be unfamiliar with legal processes.
Motivated by continuous improvement and building effective systems.
Passionate about HOST's mission and values.
Why Join HOST?
