About us

Who we are

Amour Destiné CIC is an award-winning, survivor-led organisation providing specialist, culturally responsive support to Black women and girls, particularly those of African, Caribbean and mixed heritage, who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, harmful practices and other forms of trauma, including care experience.

Based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and working across neighbouring London boroughs, we are committed to reducing inequalities in access to support and ensuring women and girls receive services that recognise and respond to their cultural identities, lived experiences and individual needs.

Our specialist services include independent advocacy, culturally specific counselling, health and wellbeing support, peer support, mentoring, wellbeing workshops and community outreach. We work alongside survivors to help them navigate health, social care and criminal justice systems, advocate for their rights, and access the support they need to recover, rebuild and thrive.

Alongside our direct services, we work in partnership with statutory agencies, charities, researchers and policymakers to influence systemic change. Through research, training, consultancy and survivor engagement, we help improve professional practice and increase equitable access to services for Black women and girls affected by violence against women and girls.

At Amour Destiné, we believe every woman and girl deserves to be safe, heard and empowered. By combining lived experience with professional expertise, we are helping to create more inclusive systems and stronger communities where survivors can heal and flourish.

Our culture and values

At Amour Destiné, our culture is rooted in compassion, integrity, collaboration and a commitment to social justice. As a survivor-led organisation, we believe that those with lived experience are experts in their own lives and should be at the heart of designing, delivering and influencing services.

We are committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed and person-centred support that respects the dignity, strengths and individual journeys of every woman and girl we work alongside. We value diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, heard and empowered.

Our work is underpinned by partnership and collaboration. We work closely with statutory services, community organisations and survivors to improve systems, reduce inequalities and create lasting change. We encourage innovation, continuous learning and reflective practice, ensuring we remain responsive to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

Above all, we believe in hope, empowerment and equity. We are passionate about breaking down barriers, amplifying underrepresented voices and creating opportunities for women and girls not only to recover from trauma, but to thrive and lead change within their communities.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Amour Destiné is committed to creating and maintaining a workplace where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and fairness. We believe that diversity strengthens organisations and communities, and we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and preventing discrimination in all aspects of our work.

We actively seek to create an inclusive environment where employees, volunteers, Board members and service users feel valued, respected and able to contribute fully, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.

As a specialist organisation supporting Black women and girls, we recognise the impact that systemic inequalities and discrimination can have on individuals and communities. We are committed to challenging barriers to participation and ensuring our recruitment, employment and development practices are fair, transparent and accessible.

Our recruitment processes are designed to attract a diverse range of candidates and appointments are made based on skills, experience, potential and organisational fit. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout recruitment and employment to support individuals with disabilities or additional needs.

We expect all employees, volunteers and Board members to uphold our values and contribute to a culture that is inclusive, respectful and free from discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation. Any concerns relating to discriminatory behaviour are taken seriously and addressed in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Through regular reflection, training and engagement with the communities we serve, we continually strive to strengthen our equality, diversity and inclusion practices and ensure our workforce reflects the richness and diversity of society
