About us
Who we are
Himmah exists to dismantle structural poverty and racism by building community power, cultural infrastructure, and collective ownership in Nottingham and beyond. Rooted in solidarity rather than charity, we organise with communities to transform sites of crisis into spaces of leadership, connection, and change using food, culture, and organising as entry points. Through community-led hubs, anti-racist cultural work, and pathways into skills, wellbeing, and economic security, we shift power and resources into the hands of those most affected, enabling them to shape the systems, institutions, and narratives that govern their lives and build a future grounded in dignity, justice, and redistribution.
Our culture and values
Himmah’s culture is rooted in solidarity, dignity and collective power. We provide direct support, but not in ways that leave people dependent instead, we use it as a starting point to build relationships, develop leadership and organise with communities to change the conditions that cause poverty and inequality. Our work is grounded in trust, mutual care and anti-racist practice, bringing people together to shape solutions, shift power and create lasting change in their communities.
