About the role
The Project Assistant will manage day-to-day activities for the School Health Integrated Programme (SHIP), working closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Based in Harare, with implementation in Glenview-Mufakose District, the role focuses on coordination, monitoring, documentation, reporting, and supporting capacity-building initiatives to ensure successful delivery of project targets.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate SHIP activities with ministries, partners, and schools to meet project objectives.
- Organise capacity-building sessions for health workers and school health coordinators.
- Prepare activity reports and contribute to quarterly and annual donor reports.
- Monitor project implementation through site visits and follow-up actions.
- Support outreach activities and ensure proper record-keeping systems are maintained.
- Track project expenditure and monitor budget variance for compliance and value for money.
- Represent the programme at meetings with ministries and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate patient satisfaction studies and assist with operational research.
- Support partners in planning, monitoring, and quality assurance of project delivery.
- Identify underperformance issues and implement corrective measures in consultation with partners.

About you
As Project Assistant, you are organised, proactive, and experienced in coordinating health-related projects. You excel at building relationships with government ministries and partners, managing multiple priorities, and ensuring compliance with donor and organisational standards. Your ability to communicate effectively, monitor progress, and support capacity-building will help deliver inclusive and impactful health services.
Jobholder Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related discipline (postgraduate degree an advantage) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience in programme or project management, ideally within an INGO setting.
- Knowledge of public health and eye health in Zimbabwe.
- Understanding of Disability Inclusive Development and experience working with OPDs.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation and research.
- Understanding of Zimbabwe’s health system and advocacy work.
Desirable
- Ability to work with project budgets, forecasts, and reports.
- Training needs assessment and facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Ndebele fluency is an advantage.
- Strong networking and advocacy skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites; basic computer skills required.

We are currently looking for a Training Support Officer to join our team.
About the role
This role provides tactical and targeted support to our District teams as we seek to enable our volunteers to deliver training to both cadets and volunteers in line with the Sea Cadets Learning Strategy. This post is responsible for supporting the delivery of the district training, including Royal Marine Cadet (RMC) training activity at Troop level. The work location can be flexible (home or office-based) requiring regular evening and weekend working supporting our volunteers by attending virtual meetings and delivering online training.
Responsibilities
- To provide functional support to our area Training Managers and District and RMC Troop Teams, ensure the district training plans are delivered, amended as necessary throughout the year, to the training plan and in line with identified training needed to best support the delivery of the Sea Cadet Experience.
- To support specific District Teams including the District Training Officer (DTO), District Recreational Officer/ Deputy District Officer (DRO/DDO), District Staff Officers (DSO), and RMC Troop Commanders (Trp Cdr) identified as requiring support under our change management process.
- To work closely with all District Officers to increase the number of certificated, current and competent instructors, and develop the capability and capacity of District Instructors to deliver training to cadets and volunteers across all Districts.
- To support the ATOs/DTOs/RMC Troops in all training matters (including uniformed and unit management teams) with a specific focus on Districts/Troops that need support.
- Support our Programmes and Virtual Training Manager with the co-ordination the of delivery of appropriate MSSC and other approved training packages (including BTEC, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) appropriate to the age and experience of cadets across the organisation.
- Work under the leadership of our Assistant Director Sea Cadet Learning monitor performance against set targets set by the National Support Centre to ensure equitable access for cadets and adults to the Sea Cadet Experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To develop, implement and evaluate the Banter Project youth service in partnership with adopted young people in Northern Ireland. These young people range in age from 14-25 years and live throughout Northern Ireland. The role will primarily work with the project participants, but has additional relationships with community organisations, educational establishments and employers to ensure that all project goals and outcomes are efficiently and effectively met.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead the development and delivery of all elements of the Banter Project adopted young people’s service within Northern Ireland in a fun, interactive, interesting and an ability appropriate manner.
- To support the project participants to play an active role in the design and implementation of a programme of monthly activities for adopted young people. Sustaining and developing a monthly social hub, supporting the development of basic life-skills, and preparation for opportunities in further education, training, employment.
- To support a Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in its role to enable adopted young people to steer the Banter Project while developing skills which promote independence, personal development, social and life skills, leadership, and community involvement.
- To organise and supervise the work of the Youth Services Support Worker to deliver the Banter Project.
- To provide opportunities to connect with, and signpost to, relevant services, particularly those who work with care experienced young people.
- To develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation to review individual goals, track progress and impact, via data and analysis of outcomes to assess effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- To record service activity using the electronic data management systems to collate in preparation for reporting and learning opportunities.
- To gather output and outcome data from the Banter Project service in accordance with the quality assurance systems within AUK.
- Work with other staff members to deliver a high-quality project for our adopted young people and their adoptive parents. Work as part of a team to contribute to a positive work environment and shared goals.
- To attend internal and external training/meetings as appropriate, to remain connected with broader adoption issues, relevant policies, working practices, and network with other youth work providers in Northern Ireland.
- To engage in supervision and professional development.
