We are looking for some volunteers trained in divorce law to help our current law team at SPSAS.

At Koala NW, our volunteer support is at the heart of what we do and we know how much our families appreciate the support our volunteers offer.

As a Koala North West volunteer, you will be given the training and support to make a real difference to families in your community. You will also develop transferable skills which can support you in your life, whether that’s at home or at work. You will make friends along the way and join other volunteers for peer support sessions and join in celebrations like National Volunteers week & Christmas events.

Once you have completed your 6 session training programme, you will be matched to a suitable family to offer emotional and practical support. You will be supported by a coordinator and given support and supervision regularly.

Every family we support is unique so the support that we offer is equally unique to that family and depends entirely on the circumstances and what they would like support with. We help parents identify what they are already doing well, and support them to build on this to improve their relationships with their children.

You will be visiting families in their own homes once a week for an hour or two, if you have availability to support more than one family just let us know and you can be matched to additional families. Or you may be offering virtual support. During the pandemic, we had to adjust our home visiting to virtual support, via zoom, telephone /What’s App video calls/ texts. It proved very successful as this was a regular contact for families during lockdown.

Due to the success of virtual support, if families prefer this type of support as an alternative to home visits, that’s okay.

Support in one or more of the following areas could be offered:

• Social isolation/loneliness, support families to get outdoors, walking with them to the park or accompanying to appointments etc
• Poor emotional and/or mental health wellbeing
• Managing children’s behaviours/sleep issues
• School readiness
• Family bereavement
• Disability/complex needs or ill health
• New baby/multiple births
• Difficulty with home management/routine
• Budgeting

All home visits by volunteers are carried out between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. (Flexible around family and work commitments)

What does Koala NW expect from you?

• You have parenting experience
• You have a non-judgemental attitude
• You are flexible and can commit to 2 hours minimum each week for a period of at least 12 months
• You are able to attend a 6 session training course. Training is held locally and runs 1 day a week for 6 consecutive weeks between 9.30am and 2.30pm
• You are willing to attend ongoing training to support you in your volunteering role.

Since we started, we have supported in excess of 12,000 families and trained more than 1,500 volunteers.

Volunteering can change a family's life and 1-2 hours per week can make such a huge difference. Our volunteers are the difference.

We are looking for trained or experienced Mckenzie friends to offer some scottish family law legal advice on our groups. We have a few volunteers already but they dont know scottish law.

We are looking for someone training / trained / or have experience in family courts for Scotland

Would you like to make a difference to a local family in your community? By giving just 2hrs a week you can do this.

Our volunteers are all parents themselves or have parenting experience and are carefully selected for their friendliness and understanding. All volunteers complete a preparation course and are DBS and reference checked before being matched with a family. They then take their own individual skills and experience to the families they visit. Our volunteers offer their time and friendship and accept a parent as they are.

We are looking for individuals with professional or lived experience of working with children in our Haringey Refuges. Our volunteer playworkers are passionate about play and providing a welcoming and safe space for all children.

About the Role

As a volunteer play worker, you will work in partnership with the Sessional Play Worker and Family Support Worker in the planning and delivery of play sessions. Most children will be between the ages of 2-5 years.

Playworker volunteers will lead and assist a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, games, etc. to engage and support the children’s emotional wellbeing and enhance their confidence and resilience. Activity sessions will be carried out in the refuges, supported by the Sessional Play worker.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking volunteers who have:

• Shared vision, mission and values of Solace Women’s Aid
• Professional and/or lived experience of working with children
• Understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people
• Ability to communicate effectively with children aged 0-5, parents and staff
• Basic knowledge of child development
• Organisation and time management skills

Although not essential, we would welcome applications from volunteers who have a formal qualification in working with children, young people and families, or who have knowledge of trauma-informed approaches to working with children and young people.

Home-Start in Suffolk is seeking up to four individuals to join our Board of Trustees to offer strategic support and guidance to Home-Start in Suffolk. You will join a strong, committed Trustee Board and help strengthen further the breadth of experience.

English Conversation Club Volunteer 

Role Summary:  

We are looking for volunteers to facilitate our new English Conversation Club working in partnership with SAVTE (Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English). The Conversation Club will support clients to enhance their English language skills and to understand how to respond to real life situations. Clients who are learning English as a second language will access the Conversation Club to learn and practice words and phrases that will benefit them in their daily lives. Each week you will prepare a relevant topic to discuss with clients. The topics will range from typical daily conversations to more specific housing related interactions.

Our expert partners SAVTE run various Conversation Clubs across the city. SAVTE will provide ongoing training for the role with access to a conversation group volunteers network and insightful events to meet with other peers. Shelter will facilitate the Conversation Club and manage the volunteer roles. This is a great opportunity to work alongside two forward-thinking Charities who are looking at innovative ways to improve people’s lives.

Volunteers must be passionate about helping others to make positive and meaningful changes in their lives. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for upskilling others, enjoy facilitating learning in an interactive and enriching environment, and can organise resources that offer purposeful conversation topics for clients.

Suggested Involvement: 2 hrs per week (30 mins preps, 1hr 30 mins session)

• Initiate and facilitate a weekly Conversation Group with suitable topical discussions, ensuring participants involvement.

• Collect participants feedback and own comments and suggestions to improve sessions.

Job Description

Our charity shops rely on generous donations made by the public to raise crucial funds for Marie Curie. From clothes, homeware and books, to CDs and DVDs, we sell a wide variety of products.

We are looking for volunteers to help us sort through all these donations, pick out the best items and prepare and sell them to our customers. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers we could not provide our customers with high quality items at affordable prices.  This allows us to raise funds so our nurses can continue to provide care to terminally ill people and support for their families.

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

• Sort through donations, being aware of the possibility of a hidden gem and better quality brands
• Prepare items for sale by checking, hanging, steaming, sizing and pricing them
• Work on the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
• Operate the till 
• Help out with basic housekeeping to keep the shop clean and tidy

Caudwell Children are looking for volunteers to help with our family workshops!

 Caudwell Children offer a range of parent and family workshops that provide tips and strategies on many of the common difficulties associated with raising a child with disabilities or autism:

Meeting Sensory needs, Language and communication, forming relationships, supporting positive behaviour, Autism and well-being, Change and transition, Eating and nutrition, and Sleep.

Volunteer Responsibilities include:

• Processing applications completing a range of administration tasks such as data entry, emailing families, checking financial documentation, scanning.
• Preparing resource packs to be used during the workshops
•  Responding to telephone enquiries and booking families on to workshops
• Researching and contacting organisations and networks whose beneficiaries may be interested in attending the workshops.
• ·Supporting staff with the delivery of the workshop sessions and activities, engaging with and supporting both the parents and the children who attend.

This role takes place on weekdays only between 9 till 5. We suggest a time commitment of 4 hours a week, with a minimum commitment of 6 months for this role – full training and support will be provided.

Role Summary:

To provide peer support at resilience group sessions for expectant and new mums (pregnancy up to 1 year) at Children & Family Centres across the London Borough of Bexley, or online via Zoom.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Successfully complete a training course for Mindful Mums Peer Support Volunteer. You will be fully supported during this time and on successful completion will understand different mindfulness, wellbeing, resilience and coping techniques and be confident in leading the peer support within these groups.

2. Prepare for and lead the peer support for a minimum of three Mindful Mums groups (over 5 consecutive weeks). Group dates and times will be discussed with you in advance.

3. Liaise with the Project Coordinator regarding sessions that need volunteers.

4. Contribute to the development of the content of the Mindful Mums sessions based on your experience as a parent.

5. Report any concerns arising from the sessions to the Project Coordinator and, where appropriate, the contact at the venue.

6. Participate in catch-up meetings with the Project Coordinator, group volunteer meetings and training on Safeguarding Children and Adults.

7. Take part in some Mindfulness practise.

8. At all times work in accordance with the organisation’s policies regarding Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Confidentiality & Data Protection.

Person Specification

To undertake the role of Mindful Mums Peer Support Volunteer, you must be able to show that you have the following:

o Experience of having felt stressed, low, anxious or have struggled with your mental or emotional wellbeing in other ways during the perinatal period (pregnancy to 1 year).

o Skills to effectively facilitate sessions.

At Sense we know that it's not easy being a young carer or sibling of a disabled child. Their wellbeing and happiness are just as important. That’s why Sense supports activities and sessions specifically for young people aged 5-18 who have a caring role for a parent, carer, or sibling.

We run a range of virtual and in person activities throughout the month. Our sessions are based on what the young people tell us they like doing, giving them a break, and also providing opportunities to meet and develop friendships with other young people in a similar situation.

Our Siblings and Young Carers in person activity group sessions take place once a month. Activities include picnics, bowling, arts and crafts and rock climbing, enabling the young people to spend time doing fun things with other siblings and young carers with similar experiences.

You do not need to have any previous experience working with siblings or young carers as we will provide you with training and ongoing support to equip you for your role.

Practical Considerations

This project is based in Loughborough, either at our Sense College or out in the community . Our activity group runs once per month, for 3.5 hours on a Saturday. Ideally you would be able to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering.

An essential part of getting ready to volunteer is attending a training session where you'll learn more about your volunteer role, the specific needs of children and young carers and how to keep young people on the project safe.

Your travel expenses will be covered by Sense. 

You must be 18 or over to volunteer. We collect two references for this role as well as complete a Child and Adult Enhanced DBS. 

How you can make a difference 

Sense International is the only international non-governmental organisation dedicated to supporting people with deafblindness and their families around the world. Sense International’s work began in 1994 with the aim of sharing the knowledge and expertise of our parent organisation, Sense UK. Since this time, we have set up locally registered organisations in India, Kenya, Peru, Romania, Tanzania and Uganda. We have also established programmes of work in partnership with national organisations in Bangladesh and Nepal.

The fundraising team consists of seven members, and you will work alongside the team, getting involved in different projects and support with tasks as they arise. 

Key Duties

• Support the Sense International team to deliver administrative tasks for a wide range of fundraising activities. 
• Provide project support to the team in relation to donor stewardship, fundraising appeals, and approaches for major gifts to individuals, companies and charitable trusts and foundations. 
• Conduct research to find donors for major gifts, corporate and charitable trust, and foundations. Assuring alignment to Sense Internationals charity mission. 
• Draft donors thank you letters and communications.
• Help with fundraising materials such as reports, social media, and proposals. 
• Support with administration of fundraising campaigns and events. For example, writing letters for auction and raffle prizes.
• Keeping mailing lists and donor contact details up to date on the internal database.
• Option to attend events, when required, for example London Marathon cheering post and annual Gala Ball.
• Maintain a confidential, sensitive, and discrete approach to personal, sensitive, and organisational information.

In addition to practical support, we also provide information to families, and campaign for the rights of people with complex disabilities to take part in life.
