Job description

The National Youth Agency (NYA) is at a very exciting point in its development, and we are looking for a creative Youth Worker who is ambitious for young people and uses rights-based approaches to embed active participation. You will be dynamic, engaging, passionate and determined to drive the NYA youth leadership and voice strategy.

The Youth Participation Officer will work directly with young people and organisations to ensure that high quality, active participation is embedded in systems, structures, and practices.  They will ensure that young people’s views, opinions and experiences shape NYA policy and activity, delivering meaningful outcomes for sustained change both within the NYA and within the wider youth sector.

They will be involved in a variety of exciting projects working with young people internally and externally.  They will be able to work flexibility to accommodate when young people are available to meet whether online or in person, in the evening and on weekends.

They will have knowledge and experience of delivering online youth work and be able to communicate with young people using a range of methods.

NYA holds a unique position within the youth sector. We are the national body for youth work, and the Professional Statutory Regulatory Body (PSRB) for youth work in England. We are the cornerstone of a great profession and we have been transforming lives through youth work for over 50 years. We strive every day to champion, professionalise and enable great youth work, driving up the quality and quantity of safe and impactful practice.

If you are as motivated and committed to driving youth work excellence across the youth sector as we are then we would love to hear from you.

We are committed to inclusivity and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. To reflect the communities we serve, we strive to bring different backgrounds, cultures, age, experience, and identity to enrich our insights and power the work we do together.

We welcome applications from groups currently under-represented in our organisation including Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.

Why join us

Our work is vital, we are passionate and committed to what we do, and we need the very best from our talented team to thrive. At NYA we operate as a people first organisation, with a flexible working approach that helps us balance our work with life. We are a predominately remotely based team across England with a head office in Leicester. Despite the geographical distance between us, our digital use, shared focus, and supportive culture make us a highly connected team. We also provide committed time and funds to support personal and professional development.
