Job Title: Peer Support Mentor

Location: This role is based based in Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), the service is a short walk from Ladbroke Grove (Circle and Hammersmith) station. Unfortunately, this service does not have step free access. 

Salary: £27,000 (Full Time Equivalent) 

Shift Pattern: This is a 25 hour per week role, worked Monday to Friday on a rota basis. You will work three shifts per week: two shifts between 09:00 - 17:00 or 10:00 - 18:00, and one longer shift between 09:00 - 20:00 or 10:00 - 21:00. You may be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and participant requirements. 

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Support Mentor to join our team based in RBKC to support our residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will support in providing our residents with the support needed to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals in a person centred approach. You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service. The role includes:

• Supporting residents with daily tasks
• Placing residents needs at the centre of all support provided and using trauma informed practice to guide care and support.
• Drawing on your own lived experience (such as substance misuse, offending, homelessness, or other relevant experiences) to support and relate to residents with multiple and complex needs.
• Plan and deliver activities within the Complex Needs Hub working with the activities team, including monthly activities with risk assessments and adjustments for clients.
• Holding a caseload, conducting key work sessions which are personable to their needs
• Carry out regular welfare checks, safeguarding checks, and general living checks
• Encourage residents to take part in activities and events
• Keep support plans up to date on a regular basis
• Work closely with the rest of the team to provide overall excellent service delivery, this may mean also supporting with their caseloads, and other tasks as necessary
• Carry out general housing management support

To help achieve this we are significantly expanding our peer educator initiative, an evidence-based and multi award winning model to engage and reach underserved communities, support health awareness and literacy, and instigate behavioural change; delivered by trusted, trained peer educators through attendance at events and community spaces. We aim to scale up the roll out and adoption of peer educators within the care pathway across the UK, with a particular focus on improving early detection and diagnosis of chronic kidney disease and associated conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team, who are primarily volunteers, all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.

About the role

We are seeking a transformational and visionary Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) to lead a national youth focused organisation, dedicated to promoting peer-led early intervention support for those in need. The successful candidate will be the first employed leader, propelling Youth4Youth from its robust foundations to the next stages of its development. The CEO will be responsible for turning our recently developed, yet ambitious, strategy into reality. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact from the outset.

Youth4Youth has secured funding to appoint a CEO for one year, with the expectation that the appointed leader will focus on securing long-term sustainable funding, thereby transitioning this position into a permanent role at the end of the fixed-term period. Additionally, the CEO will facilitate the appointment of further roles to support our mission as further funding becomes available.

Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with the Chair of the Board and Trustees to establish and execute organisational strategy in alignment with the charity’s vision, mission, and objectives. This includes ensuring effective governance and legal compliance, and providing sound, evidence-based recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
• Champion continuous improvement, ensuring Youth4Youth remains a leading provider of youth-led early intervention wellbeing services. Identify and develop opportunities to expand the charity's reach and impact across the UK.
• Oversee effective financial management, ensuring the organisation can continue delivering its services efficiently. Lead the development of sustainable funding streams, enhance fundraising strategies, foster partnerships, and drive growth in commercial activities.

This position offers the chance to advance an organisation with solid foundations, enhancing its reach and impact across the UK through a volunteer executive leadership team and a growing network of approximately 100 volunteers nationwide. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.  

Ideally, you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role is a fixed-term role until 31st December 2026, with the opportunity to be made permanent subject to contract renewal.

The role will be prison-based. This is a senior leadership role accountable for award winning high performing shops that deliver + £3.5m in sales in the context of an ambitious and developing trading strategy.  The post holder is directly accountable for sustaining and building this performance leading a team of staff and volunteers and in working as part of the central trading and wider hospice teams.  The role combines sales and profit targets, creativity, accountability, empathic people skills and a passion for trading. Our retail business is a key driver for organisational success. The Hospice of St Francis Charity provides essential free care across West Hertfordshire and South Buckinghamshire.  More than 80% of the income we spend comes from trading and fundraising. Our retail performance (sales and profit) benchmarks at the very top of the sector with award winning and innovative retail formats supported by a strong volunteer base and shop team delivering outstanding customer service. 

Main duties and responsibilities:

· Line management and mentoring 5 direct line reports and oversight accountability for a team of 33 whole time equivalent employees (53 people) and 500 volunteers

· Maintain and improve our performance at the top of the charity retail sector nationally

· Hold oversight of leases and ensure effective lease management

· Accountability for delivering more than £3.5m in annual sales, with levels of engagement, profit and performance that deliver the strategic aims of the Charity

· Accountability for retail Gift Aid income and HMRC compliance assuring at least £300k annually from retail claims

As Senior Programme Manager, you will run our flagship Communicating Climate programme and lead Media Trust’s work on the Diverse Voices programme. You will help us further develop our climate work and ensure our existing programmes are cutting edge and meet the demands of this moment.

This role will directly manage our Communicating Climate programme. The Senior Programme Manager will build on the success of the past five years of the programme and further develop the programme content and structure to maximise impact for participating organisations. With support from a programme co-ordinator, you will ensure the smooth delivery of the programme, including recruiting and managing a cohort of climate organisations; overseeing the budget and timeline; managing our relationships with funders, trainers and partners; and impact evaluation and reporting.

You will also oversee our role in the Diverse Voices programme, which works to amplify the voices of people and communities most impacted by climate change. The programme is run by a consortium of organisations, including Race Equality Foundation, Turn2Us and Disability Rights UK. Media Trust is the media partner, delivering communications-related training and support to the participants. 

Your line manager will be Media Trust’s Head of Charity Services and the role will sit within our charity services team. This Senior Programme Manager role does not currently have any direct line management responsibilities. 

Please note that whilst this is a remote role, the Media Trust team meets in-person in London on a monthly basis and regular travel to London for meetings and events is required. 

Key Responsibilities 

Programme Management of our climate programmes, including: 

• Lead our Communicating Climate programme, ensuring it is high quality, innovative and tailored to the needs and priorities of climate and environmental organisations 

• Recruit and build successive new cohorts of climate charities, user-led organisations and community groups, supporting them through the programme to ensure high levels of engagement and collaboration 

• Recruit and work with trainers and climate experts to develop engaging, practical and tailored training content, activities and resources 

• Plan and ensure the smooth delivery of all activities (including training, workshops, peer to peer networking sessions and other events), ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and lead to planned outcomes 

• Work with Media Trust’s media and creative industry partners to develop tailored training, mentoring and digital resources for the climate and environment sector 

• Manage the Advisory Group for Communicating Climate, which is comprised of leading media organisations, climate charities and sector experts, coordinating regular meetings, building relationships with members and facilitating opportunities for the Advisory Group to shape and input into the direction of the programme 

• Manage relationships with our key programme and sector partners including Climate Outreach, Heard and others, build relationships with a wide range of sector organisations

• Work with media industry partners to design and deliver activities for volunteers from leading media and creative agencies to provide pro bono strategic communications support to climate charities

• Manage the programme budget and financial reporting 

• Lead on the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the programme, ensuring impact is evidenced by high quality data and producing impact reports 

• Maintain up to date knowledge of trends and developments in the climate and strategic communications space and embed these insights into the programme content 

Other work across our team and programmes 

• Identify new opportunities for climate work for Media Trust 

• Share key learnings and best practice across our thematic programmes (our other thematic programme is the Stronger Voices Programme).

• Support the Head of Charity Services with securing grant and other funding for new thematic strategic communications programmes and climate work, contributing to the development of future programmes and funding applications 

• Collaborate with our MarComms team to craft compelling copy for various platforms including web, e-marketing, and social media channels

This is a part-time (4 days per week) position, working from home, with regular travel across North East & Cumbria and to London. The post holder must live in the North East or Cumbria.

You’ll be the face of the Foundation in the area, able to build strong and trusting relationships and be an advocate for community organisations across the patch. You’ll have a good understanding of the operating environment in the North East & Cumbria with well-established networks across the patch. You will also play a pivotal role in sharing learning, intelligence and insights to ensure the Foundations’ strategy development, delivery and relationship with the Lloyds Banking Group considers regional needs and the operating context of our funded partners.

Spectra are a long standing LGBTQ+ CIC dedicated to providing supportive, expert, and non-judgemental peer-led health and wellbeing services.

Their services include:

• Peer-led counselling, social groups and mentoring, particularly amongst LGBTQ+ communities
• HIV testing, outreach and education for communities affected by HIV, particularly Black and Asian communities, as well as the LGBTQ+ community
• Sexual health and LGBTQ+ training for carers, teachers and healthcare staff
• Sexual health education for neurodiverse, SEND young people and their carers
• Health advocacy and casework for trans, gender diverse and sex worker communities

The Role

They aim to diversify their income streams over the next few years and invest resources in building a brand that will capture people's imaginations and hearts, thereby building on a small pool of existing donors and growing individual giving, legacy, and major donor work.

With increased resources allocated to diversifying income, this post would suit someone interested in a start-up project focused on building individual giving from scratch, including regular and one-off donations, cultivating donors, including major donors, coordinating and developing event-based fundraising, and legacy-based giving.

You would manage a small team od two and work with the Senior Trust Fundraiser to provide support to other Strategic Programme leads, to ensure they maintain a high standard of reporting to trusts and foundations.
