Job description

Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) are looking for a dynamic, values-driven individual to lead our volunteer home support service in east and central Scotland.

This an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new and innovative service for the families of children with life-shortening conditions. Home support involves volunteers visiting families in their homes to provide practical and sibling support. Volunteers help out at home, giving parents time to be parents and to focus on their families as well as having some valuable time to themselves.

“Our volunteer, Susie, comes to our house regularly – and for me it’s the small things that she does that mean so much. The [volunteer home support] service really adds to my son’s quality of life. It has really removed some of the stress and guilt that I have felt in not always being able to be there” (a parent who is supported by the service).

Based at Rachel House hospice in Kinross, you’ll be responsible for managing around 25 matches. If you have experience of service development and volunteer management and are excited by the prospect of improving the quality of life for families supporting a child with a life-shortening condition, we’d love to hear from you.
