Job description

Yorkshire Autism AIM: Mental Health Equity Project (YAMHEP) is part of the Advonet Group, a growing organisation working with people who are marginalised, to raise their voices and have their rights respected. YAMHEP works in partnership with Leeds Autism AIM which is co-led by autistic adults with 75% of the staff team having an autism diagnosis.

In 2021, Comic Relief selected just 20 projects in all of the UK to receive the 4-year Change Makers programme funding, which aims to support organisations across the UK that will make a significant contribution to their sector to achieve real and sustainable change in the wake of COVID-19. Our proposal to support autistic adults in West Yorkshire with their mental health via development of peer support, consultation routes and access to key resources was selected to empower autistic adults to improve their mental wellbeing. This is a 4-year initiative focusing on Leeds during year one and expanding to other regions years 2-4.

We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant who can help co-develop peer support, training, resources and advise on mental health consultation routes.  The successful candidate for this position will be able to work closely with a small team to research and develop sustainable and adaptable training to be delivered throughout West Yorkshire. They will have experience of working with Autistic Adults and/or in the Mental Health Arena.

We are seeking a team-oriented individual who can support the project to develop, reach deadlines, research and gather resources to help this project achieve its aims and objectives.

You need to have relevant experience relating to the person specification and a grasp of peer support principles.

Ideally the candidate will have personal, academic or professional experience of autism and/or  mental health.

To apply for this role please visit our website and complete the Advonet Application Form and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form, which can be found on the links on this page, along with a detailed job description and person specification (CVs will not be accepted).

Reasonable adjustments can be requested if you are successful in gaining an interview. We will inform all applicants whether they are successful in gaining an interview or not.

If you would like more information or an informal chat about the post please call us and ask to speak to Erin Honseler, Yorkshire AIM Manager. Please note, Erin’s office hours are Monday-Thursday.
