Senior Housing Support Worker - Essex and Norfolk
Location: Essex and Norfolk with travel to - (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, Southend).
Salary - £26,478 (Including £200 Unsociable Hours Allowance)
Job Type - Permanent/Full-Time
Hours - 40 hours (including 5 hours paid lunch breaks)

The provision of the contract is a morning shift 08:00 - 16:00 and a late shift 14:00 - 22:00 with a rolling Rota for on-call shifts covering weeknights, weekends, and bank holidays However, there is flexibility around this which can be discussed at the interview.

Who are we looking for?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Support Worker to make a positive impact on the lives of service users by co-ordinating the provision of direct housing related support and housing management services.
This will be achieved by working with area operation and central support teams and liaising with a range of external agencies and partners.
Key Responsibilities
•Act as a peripatetic senior operational lead working across services providing direct input and support on practice, performance, or quality matters.
•Co-ordinating and delivering service improvement plans for a service or group of services working in collaboration with the Quality team and Service Leads. Support in the co-ordination of service audits.
•Work with the Quality and Safeguarding Team on development and implementation of procedures and toolkits relating to working with service users who require higher levels of support.
•Be a safeguarding lead, advising teams on effective management of incidents, practice, and reporting. Liaise with relevant external agencies e.g. Local Authority, Social Services, Children's teams etc.
•Act as an operational subject matter expert to input to policy and procedure reviews.
•Carry a small caseload of complex need service users.
•Be a senior operational representative for complex case reviews with external professionals.
•Represent services at external operational meetings related to service user assessments, reviews and referral assessment as required.
•Deputise for the Service Lead at external service or contract reviews as required.
•Deputise for Service Leads as required and line manage teams of support workers for temporary periods of time.
•Ensure teams are compliant with voids and arrears protocols and procedures and review performance data in conjunction with Service Leads intervening where there are areas of underperformance or non-compliance.

Who are they?
Our client provides refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. They offer their services to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse and need a safe place to stay, and to those out in the community who are living with the impact of domestic abuse.

Support Worker’s
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing practical and emotional support to women and men who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse (both in the refuge and throughout the local community). You’ll work with clients to assess needs and risks and plan a package of support and risk management individual to them.
Some of the other duties involve:

Assessing referrals for both community and refuge based services

Supporting the delivery of group work both in refuge and local community

Travelling throughout service delivery area to deliver support and attendance at multi-agency meetings and work in partnership with other agencies where required to advocate for their clients and ensure risk is managed and support needs are met (e.g.: social care; police; CAB; housing departments; Job Centre and Benefits agencies)

Working with colleagues to provide a clean and welcoming environment for all accessing our services

Ensuring records (computer based case management system) are kept up to date and accurate – basic IT skills and knowledge of IT systems are advantageous!
Move On Support Worker’s
As a domestic abuse move on worker you’ll support individuals and families within our safe accommodation to transition into settled accommodation. You’ll provide a tailored, person-centred support package to help customers achieve their goals and live a life free from abuse.
Some other duties include:

Prepare customers to move on from safe accommodation services and deliver support, both in groups and one-to-one, to enable them to manage their own tenancy.

Support customers to set up their own home, assisting them to set up utility accounts and other household obligations.

Provide emotional support and reassurance to survivors and their families around their move from safe refuge.

Working with survivors on the transition from refuge to their own property safely, engaging in robust safety planning and risk assessing and identification.

Provide housing management and welfare benefit support and guidance, as well as signposting and making referrals to appropriate agencies.

Identifying and keeping an up-to-date register of local and national grants available to survivors in furnishing/ moving to their new home Establish and maintain quality working relationships to enable multi-agency support.

Engage actively with safeguarding initiatives and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) frameworks, referring clients, attending meetings, and following up on agreed actions.

About You
They’re looking for someone who has the values, knowledge and skills of working within a support role supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse and can demonstrate how they use their skills and common sense to support vulnerable individuals and families. They’ll have a commitment to maintaining the dignity and rights of the individuals and families they work with, with top notch communication skills. It is desirable if you have had experience of working within a Domestic Abuse Service.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but they welcome candidates with relevant experience from other sectors or transferrable skills.
You will work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. There may be expectation to work some evenings up to 8pm and occasional weekends and bank holidays.
You will be required to have flexibility to travel across Derbyshire therefore driving licence and access to a car (with business insurance) is essential
All successful candidates will be required to take a basic numeracy and literacy exercise prior to the interview.

Job Purpose
This role sits within our Adult Services, across Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow. You will be responsible for the operational delivery and service development, of a portfolio of services. Namely (but subject to change):
- Safe Space Community
- Safe Space ED
- Hounslow Helpline
- Nova Roots (Forensic Community Hub)
One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00(midday) – 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3 in person Safe Spaces and based in 3 A&E.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis.
The objectives of the service include:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
- To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
- To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
- To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
- To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.
The Role
The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.
Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.
The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.
They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements.
