Senior Manager (Social Impact)

Circa £50,000 + benefits

12 months Fixed Term Contact (Maternity cover)

21 hours / 3 days per week (happy to talk flexible working)

The Role

You will act as a senior manager in the Social Impact and Innovation team, delivering on the CIPD’s social impact strategy of equipping our members to drive positive change in the world of work through practical action.  Specifically, you will lead on the team’s communications strategy and execution as well as overseeing our partnerships strategy and activity. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Driving the strategy and delivery of an integrated events and communications plan around our social impact, maximising all CIPD channels to drive the CIPD’s impact against its mission of ‘championing better work and working lives’
  • Ensuring the department’s work directly contributes to enhancing the CIPD’s brand and profile, as well as the role of the people profession, amongst key audiences
  • Driving the team’s programme of work (including surveys, external research and collaborations, case study collection and output creation) around our social impact programmes and activities
  • Providing high quality programme leadership, overseeing the CIPD’s management of key volunteering projects, programmes and partnerships as required, including overall responsibility for ensuring any related external funding targets are met
  • Acting as a lead representative for the CIPD to key national stakeholders (including funders and strategic partners), upholding our reputation and brand through excellent leadership and communication at external meetings and presentations
  • Line management responsibility for the Partnerships Executive and wider team leadership around our communications and events.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

  • Experience of B2B and B2C communications and campaigning
  • Experience of overseeing a marketing or promotional campaign
  • Experience of representing an organisation to senior external stakeholders and funders
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
  • The ability to manage a small team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience of writing copy to an excellent standard in a variety of styles (e.g. marketing and campaigns collateral, press releases, feature articles, web, social media)
  • A proactive approach to relationship building and a high level of diplomacy, with the ability to manage difficult situations at all levels
  • Ability to manage a wide-range of external suppliers and internal colleagues to deliver a range of discrete projects, events and outputs, on time and within budget
  • Good presentation skills
  • Confidence, resilience and determination
  • Working knowledge of the world of business and public policy (desirable)
  • Experience of delivering a national volunteering programme (desirable)
