Job description

FRC Group’s campaigning arm, End Furniture Poverty needs an energetic, multitalented, passionate new team member who will play a crucial role in our campaign to End Furniture Poverty.

Working with End Furniture Poverty’s Head of Policy, Research & Campaigns, the Policy, Research & Campaigns Officer will mainly focus delivering our research objectives. Developing research briefs, gathering qualitative and quantitative data, handling large datasets, analysing the results and writing research papers. These papers are used in Westminster and beyond so a very high standard is vital. They will need experience of using SPSS, R, Stata or similar software and have the ability to visualise complex data.

The Policy, Research & Campaigns Officer will also be involved with every element of our campaigns – from research and data analysis to developing campaign themes and messages, to assisting with our social media campaigns, devising and hosting campaign events and working on a one to one basis with partner organisations such as social housing providers.

The Policy, Research & Campaigns Officer will thrive in working in a complex environment and juggling multiple projects. They will have proven strong project management skills, clear communication skills, and will have a track-record of working independently to understand complex issues.


Researching the prevalence, causes and effects of furniture poverty

· Designing and implementing primary qualitative and quantitative research

· Writing research reports and briefing notes to publication standard

· Conducting secondary research to draw on existing data sources to provide insight

· Mapping the existing provision of different solutions to Furniture Poverty

· Uncovering existing, and developing new, solutions to Furniture Poverty

· Creating and maintaining a library of relevant sources and publications

· Understanding and keeping up to date with the broader policy context

Campaigning to End Furniture Poverty

· Maintaining the End Furniture Poverty website and creating new content.

· Adopting different writing styles for a range of audiences and publications.

· Creating content for distribution through various channels including social media e.g. blogs, thought pieces, comment articles and research presentations.

· Working closely with the Head of Policy, Research & Campaigns to develop and deliver campaign events targeting specific influencers.

· Representing End Furniture Poverty at partner meetings, events and training to promote our issues and raise awareness to drive change.

General Information

· Carry out responsibilities as described in the FRC Group Health and Safety Policy, ensuring that activities are carried out in a way that is safe and without risk to health to yourself or others.

  • Undertake any other work appropriate to the job as directed by your supervisor or training deemed necessary by the company.
  • Attend all meetings as requested by your supervisor, unless with prior arrangement of absence, including monthly group communications meetings.

Decision Making Authority
You are required to clear any issues relating to policy with your supervisor. You are also required to obtain clearance for any expenditure not in line with agreed budgets.

Remote working with monthly visit to Liverpool, induction at based Liverpool and costs covered for induction and training.
