Wymering Manor Trust
Would you like to join the Wymering Manor Trust? Are you passionate about local heritage and the role it can play in enriching its local communities. We are looking for new trustees to help us restore Portsmouth’s Elizabethan gem.
Our aim is to repair, restore, and build a sustainable future for the manor, for local people to enjoy as their ‘home from home’, as we manage the building to earn its keep by letting rooms for events, meetings, education and training, putting on plays, ghost hunting, socialising and new activities. We’re are currently aiming to raise the funding we need to repair the main structure of the building. We have consultants’ plans for business development, financial feasibility, design options, audience development, catering and weddings and interpretation. We are also looking to develop the option of becoming a Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Building Conservation.
To make our plans a reality, we are seeking new trustees who recognise the contemporary role of heritage places, spaces and culture, and who value the contribution they make in creating and sustaining social, educational, environmental and economic development, as well as supporting the importance of volunteering to our community. ABOUT THE PIONEER CLUB
Founded in 1941 for young evacuees from London during the Second World War, The Pioneer Club is a registered CIC and charity supporting communities in St Albans and beyond. With our partners, we deliver arts programmes, music and skateboarding through events, workshops, training, and classes. Whether it’s live music in our iconic music hall, lessons with our amazing team of pro skateboarders, or on the stage with our performing arts programmes, there’s something for everyone at The Pioneer!
As an historic grassroots music venue, we have witnessed some of the biggest names in music come through our doors, including Motorhead and The Zombies of “She’s Not There”. Enter Shikari are another hugely successful St Albans band who started out at The Pioneer Club, before moving on to achieve global success, including headlining Download Festival and performing at Wembley Arena.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Taking part in extra cirricular activities is so important for children and young people. Access to skateboarding, dance, music, art and other performing arts leads to benefits such as:

- Decreased hyperactivity and inattention
- Reduced antisocial or criminal behaviours
- Improved prosocial behaviours, such as empathy and helping others
Sadly, funding for the youth activity is decreasing year on year. And grassroots music venues are closing at a rate of 2 per week. As a charity, we couldn’t exist without the support of our volunteers. As part of the team, you will be helping us to market our events and activities and to develop and support our website, which helps us to raise the funds to keep going, and ensure that every young person has access to the arts, no mater their circumstance.

Would you like to make a real difference to the lives of individuals living with devastating and incurable conditions?
Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. These are a group of often terminal, rare neurodegenerative conditions, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.
Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to a thriving organisation supporting over a thousand individuals affected by leukodystrophy worldwide.
We are looking for experienced candidates to help develop and improve our existing beneficiary services as well as create and optimise future opportunities for growth.
It is an exciting time to join Alex TLC and we are delighted to be able to offer this opening to join our Board and complement current trustees.
Alex TLC currently employs 23 staff (three of whom are directly affected by leukodystrophy) and runs a charity shop business comprising five shops to support core costs.
We are looking for new trustees with experience in one or more of these areas: legal, PR, marketing, communications, fundraising, campaigning, political activity, IT, public health/care services, management, partnership, not for profit
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Cats are at the centre of everything we do and our objectives are: homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care. We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters.
A bit about this role
Our volunteer website editors promote the activities of our local volunteer groups and teams by helping keep their websites relevant, up to date and engaging for members of the public. Local websites are one of the places members of the public will look to find out more about Cats Protection. A positive local profile can help raise funds, promote adopting a cat, promote neutering and make sure as many people as possible learn about great cat welfare.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Sourcing news and information for websites
- Communicating with others across Cats Protection
- Sourcing and updating information around rehoming, cat welfare, fundraising and volunteer recruitment
- Regularly updating and posting on your group’s website using the charity’s content management system (CMS)
- Ensuring that content meets with internal and external policies and guidelines
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by making sure your local volunteer group or team’s website is exciting, current and informative. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
We’re looking for someone with
- Good interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- The ability to communicate well with a range of people
- Willingness to be part of a team
- Good IT skills
- Editorial and photo editing skills (would be an advantage)
Time expectation
Our website editor volunteers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
Additional information
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. To make sure this is the case, we provide support and guidance both remotely from our National Cat Centre and face to face through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We also offer varied online and face-to-face training and have wide-ranging policies covering all aspects of volunteering. We hope the support we provide will ensure our volunteers have a great experience with Cats Protection.
