Job Purpose

The purpose of the Programme Development Manager is to ensure LMK consistently delivers high quality, inclusive, relevant and impactful workshops to young people and the adults around them.

A key role within our Programme Delivery Team, this role will be the main contact person for our team of freelancers (LMK Leaders) who deliver LMK workshops. They will regularly observe our workshops to gather insight to feed into our programme development and LMK Leader continuous professional development (CPD). Taking their ‘on the ground’ experience and combining it with our evaluation results, the Programme Development Manager will make recommendations to the Head of Programmes to continuously improve our current programme offer and for new content/programmes. By ensuring that our workshops are delivered in line with LMK policy and procedures, this role will enable LMK to have confidence in our programmes being delivered consistently and to the highest quality.

The Programme Development Manager will also act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) within LMK, and will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure any safeguarding concerns are responded to quickly and appropriately. Reporting to our Head of Programmes, this role is one of two, part-time, Programme Development Managers in the Programme Delivery Team, and will work closely with the Programme Co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of LMK workshops. The successful candidate will be part of LMK’s core staff team and will work with LMK staff, LMK Leaders, members of our Youth Advisory Board and key stakeholders to develop and implement our long-term strategy.

Key responsibilities:

• To recruit, induct and oversee the work of freelance trainers (LMK Leaders) delivering LMK workshops
• Observe workshops and provide feedback to the Head of Programmes on points of learning for the overall programme and for LMK Leader delivery (including compliance with safeguarding procedures)
• Coach/develop our LMK Leaders to ensure that what they deliver at LMK workshops is true to LMK’s programme integrity
• Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) within LMK, working closely with the DSL and leading on the management/external escalation of concerns when the DSL is unavailable
• Work with the Impact and Evaluation team to access, review and make recommendations based on workshop evaluation
• Flag any issues in a timely way, so that immediate action can be taken by LMK if needed.
• Capture images, quotes and voice recordings from workshop participants in accordance with LMK/Host organisation policies, to support LMK Marketing and Communications team
• Step in where necessary as a workshop Leader (delivering to schools and youth groups)
• Input to the development of information and resources required to deliver their workshop
• Keep the CRM system data up to date in a timely way
• Attend Leader huddles, LMK events and fulfil other training requirements
• Comply with our policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, bullying and harassment, code of conduct, complaints and data protection
• Work in a way that celebrates diversity, upholds LMK values and respects everyone LMK interacts with (including freelancers, staff members, host organisations and workshop participants)

Person specification

• Driven to make a positive difference in the lives of young people
• A reflective practitioner who actively seeks opportunities to learn and improve through feedback and the experience of others
• At least 2 years’ experience of group workshop delivery to young people, in school and community settings
• Proven experience of training, coaching, and developing others, with a track record of providing developmental feedback to influence others
• A proven track record in creating youth centred education programmes that have high impact
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong track record of building collaborative relationships with others
• Highly organised to manage a diverse workload with excellent time management and keen attention to detail
• A creative thinker with the ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent IT skills across core MS/Google / Microsoft packages, ideally with experience of CRM use
