We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our friendly team on a funded, part-time contract (30 hours per week). The role is home‑based in Central England with regular UK travel. This is a varied and impactful role, involving: leading the day‑to‑day delivery of a national, multi‑year climate and school grounds programme; managing project plans, budgets, risk registers and reporting in line with funder requirements; line‑managing a delivery team and coordinating our accredited network; supporting the recruitment, onboarding and engagement of schools and communities; working closely with funders, partners and an Advisory Board; overseeing monitoring, evaluation and learning; and producing high‑quality reports, case studies and project updates in collaboration with our communications team.

You will need:

• Proven experience managing large‑scale, complex projects, ideally within the education, environmental or charity sectors
• Experience managing substantial budgets (£1m+) and financial reporting
• Strong project planning, delivery and reporting skills
• Experience of managing environmental or landscape capital improvement projects and working with landscape architects
• Excellent organisational, communication and relationship‑building skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and complex timelines
• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and climate education
• Willingness to travel across the UK and work occasional evenings

Role Purpose

To deliver building and construction projects that meet the needs and expectations of customers and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Complexity

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering a range of complex building and construction projects and programmes in collaboration with internal teams. The role covers all aspects of project and programme management, from concept design and feasibility studies through to procurement, contract administration, quality assurance, and handover.

Portfolio Areas

• Specification writing and procurement lead for all projects and programmes in scope
• Project management of internal and external resources, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
• Ensuring statutory consultation processes (e.g. Section 20 where applicable) are followed
• Financial reporting and budget management
• Managing contractors and/or consultants delivering projects typically ranging from £50k to £2m
• Contractor performance management, ensuring adherence to agreed standards and service levels
• Providing technical surveying and advice
• Acting as Client under Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation

Impact

The Project Manager is a technical expert responsible for delivering high-quality building and construction projects that enhance asset value and condition, improve customer satisfaction, and support organisational objectives.

• Deliver projects to agreed performance indicators (time, cost, quality, audit, and customer satisfaction)

Salary: £29,870 - £38,110 per annum

Are you deeply knowledgeable about Somerset’s habitats, communities, peatland environments and wildlife, with the ability to turn that local understanding into impactful nature‑recovery projects? Are you an experienced project manager who can lead funding, partnerships and delivery to protect and restore peatlands for people, wildlife and the climate?

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development, funding, and delivery of nature recovery projects across Somerset, with a primary focus on the Somerset Peatland Partnership during the first two years of the role.

In this role, you will:

• Lead end‑to‑end project delivery, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, and compliance
• Secure funding and manage grant‑funded projects in line with funder requirements
• Build and manage strong partnerships with local authorities, conservation organisations, contractors, and communities
• Coordinate and support the Somerset Peatland Partnership, helping to protect, preserve, and restore peatlands across the county
• Line‑manage project staff where required and promote best practice project management approaches

We are looking for someone with proven project management experience, strong financial and organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders. Knowledge of conservation, land management, or environmental projects would be particularly valuable.
