Job description

The Project Manager will be responsible for the effective overall project management of the Redundancy & Retraining project in the West Midlands and any other related projects and pieces of work.

You may be required to travel to the office in London at an agreed time when it is safe to do so, to ensure that you are embedded within the organisation and work closely with colleagues across the wider team.

You will be responsible for developing and managing the project, which aims to develop and test new approaches to supporting over 50s who have recently been made redundant return to employment, or those that are at risk of redundancy to remain in employment. This will involve close working with both West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), other key stakehoders and partners. You will report to and work closely with Ageing Better’s Senior Programme Manager – Work; and with other colleagues in the scoping, commissioning and management of the design and evaluation of the project. You will support the continual development of the project by ensuring learnings are fed back into the project design, delivery and evaluation.

You will develop and maintain relationships with a range of local stakeholders in the West Midlands, including DWP, JCP, LEPs, employers, employment support providers, training providers, voluntary and community sector organsations, Local Authorities, and other local delivery agencies.

You will act as key liaison between Ageing Better and West Midlands Combined Authority for the Redundancy & Retraining Project and across the wider steering and advisory board. You will work to ensure that Ageing Better, the partnership is informed with updates, evidence and insight throughout the project phases.

The successful candidate will have experience of strategically developing and managing employment support and skills programmes and developing effective partnerships across a range of key stakeholders and partners.

An understanding of local government and public/voluntary sector contexts and policy environments, good project management and organisational skills is essential.
