We are currently looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our boutique charity shop in Enfield, EN2.

Volunteers have a fantastic opportunity to help shape our members work experience placements within the shop.  You will support our members will all aspects of working in a charity shop, including using the till and customer service and spend time with them to review the skills they have learnt at the end of each shift.

What you'll do
At the shop you will be paired with one of our members with a learning disability or autism. You'll support and encourage them to complete the job/role they have been given for that specific day and encourage them to practice their social skills by interacting with the public in a polite and friendly manner.

You will also encourage them to work as part of a team and engage socially with staff and volunteers present in the shop.  You will build their confidence and encourage them to take on new challenges.

What you need
You do not need experience. Full disability awareness training will be provided before you begin volunteering with us.
The only requirements we ask of you are enthusiasm, energy and to be open-minded.
Minimum age for volunteers is 20.

We are the Guild Church for Workers in the City of London, building a multilingual community where those in often low-paid or precarious occupations are at the heart of our life and leadership.  As part of our support of workers, we provide free beginner English classes every Saturday morning in partnership with English for Action. You could be part of our exciting pilot project as a volunteer Parish Nurse offering life-transforming whole-person healthcare, working alongside Chaplains, Complex Needs and Housing Support Workers.

 As a YMCA Parish Nurse you would:

• Help service users identify issues and self-manage their wellbeing so they flourish in body, mind and spirit. This might be 1:2:1 or in a group setting.
• Signpost, support, and provide information and reassurance enabling service users to access NHS and other professional or community support as well as internal support from YMCA colleagues and projects.
• Offer spiritual care from a Christian perspective, such as prayer or acts of worship
• Be instrumental in supporting the project develop in this pilot phase

Training for this role is provided by PNMUK as part of their on-going programme of support and personal development for Parish Nursing nationally. The next course is 15-17th November with follow-up online sessions.

This project is being developed and lead by One YMCA’s Chaplaincy Team, together with our Medium Complex Intensive Support Service (MCISS) and supported by Parish Nursing Ministries UK (PNMUK).

Are you passionate about making a difference and shaping the future of young people? Urban Youth is seeking dedicated and visionary individuals to join our board as Trustees. In this role, you’ll provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure Urban Youth achieves its mission of empowering young people across London.

In this role, you will:

• Provide Strategic Leadership, to help set Urban Youth’s vision, goals, and priorities, ensuring alignment with the needs of young people and the community.

• Ensure Good Governance, to oversee Urban Youth’s operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding policies and charity law.

• Support Financial Sustainability, to monitor budgets and financial performance, ensuring resources are managed effectively to achieve our mission.

• Advocate for Urban Youth, to act as an ambassador for Urban Youth, representing Urban Youth at events and within the community to raise awareness and build support.

• Bring Expertise and Insight, to share your skills, experience, and perspectives to strengthen Urban Youth’s impact and effectiveness.

• Champion Diversity and Inclusion, to promote an inclusive approach to decision-making and ensure Urban Youth reflects the diversity of the community it serves.

Educators and facilitators wanted to help East London Waterworks Park deliver its environmental learning goals.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for educator and facilitator volunteers to participate in our community-led working group, who are collaborating with schools, universities and youth groups that help the design of the park. 

Examples of projects are: 

• collaborating on nature walk activities for schools
• supporting university students interviewing teachers
• creating lesson plans to co-design the park. 

Schools, universities and youth groups we've collaborated with include:

• Buxton School, Leytonstone
• Kingsmead School, Enfield 
• UCL 
• Royal College of Art
• University of Westminster 
• Project Zero
• Voyage Youth 
• Loyola University Chicago 
• Vanderbilt University Nashville. 

We're looking for people to lead on these projects and facilitate the direction of the learning working group.

The Learning Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening at 8pm for an hour on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

You should be an experienced teacher, educational consultant, forest school leader, training and development specialist, learning designer, facilitator or any other kind of role creating learning projects, programmes and experiences. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. 

Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park. 

As an Assistant Roller Skate Coach, you will work alongside the Head Coach to assist in delivering roller skating sessions to participants of varying skill levels. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity to gain coaching experience and contribute to the development of our community-based programs. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist the Head Coach in delivering roller skating lessons to individuals and groups. 

• Support participants during practice sessions, helping with technique and safety. 

• Encourage and motivate participants to improve their roller skating skills. 

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during sessions. 

• Help with setup, breakdown, and maintaining the equipment. 

• Assist in the tracking of participant progress and provide constructive feedback. 

• Maintain a positive and supportive environment for all skaters. 

• Promote RollaDome All Skate’s mission and encourage community involvement. 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Passion for roller skating and enthusiasm for teaching others. 

• Previous experience in roller skating or coaching (desirable). 

• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others. 

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail. 

• Ability to support and motivate participants. 

• First aid qualification (desirable, but not essential). 

• Reliable, proactive, and positive attitude. 

Commitment 

• Minimum 15 hours per week, with flexible hours.
