Our last State of the VCSE Sector research in 2021 showed that there are over 1,600 VCSE groups and organisations in the city, supported by over 7,000 paid staff and almost 62,000 volunteers. With a backdrop of pandemic recovery and rising costs of living, their services and support of them have never been more needed.
We are looking for a well-organised and passionate individual to join us and lead our programme for Salford’s VCSE community. This is an exciting role which will be focused on ensuring that the VCSE sector has a voice and influence so that Salford people are supported to live well, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.
You’ll work closely with Salford’s Living Well programme and the city’s Mental Health Collaborative, which are the cornerstones of the design and development of innovative solutions to adult mental health provision in the City. As well as the alignment with Living Well, you’ll also focus on creative health, place-based working, and physical activity.
As Strategic Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring that there is collaborative working and effective communication within Living Well, as well as with key stakeholders and strategic partners in Salford, including local authority, VCSE and NHS organisations.
We're looking for someone who has solid experience in building strong partnerships across different sectors and who communicates exceptionally well. This role requires someone who has worked at a strategic level before, someone who can confidently lead important meetings and isn't afraid to challenge, when needed, to keep things on track and advocate on behalf of the sector. A clear understanding of the VCSE sector, preferably within Salford, along with a deep knowledge of the mental health and wellbeing landscape across Greater Manchester, is essential.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) is a registered small-sized charity that delivers a wide range of services including community development initiatives and assistive equipment services to people in Bristol who are Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. Summary of duties:
Our Community Outreach Worker will support the delivery of our new community development project: Connecting People into Communities, funded by Bristol City Council.
The role will include:
• Establishing drop-in sessions throughout Bristol for Deaf and hard of hearing people as a first contact point.
• Signposting/referring individuals to appropriate services and offering support with connecting people into communities – including the Deaf Community, hard of hearing peer support, and local community hubs.
• Providing information on activities and events occurring across Bristol and local hubs.
• Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering.
• Strengthening our relationship with community organisations and other community based services, including those who support people from minority ethnic groups.
• Exploring how we can extend our work to reach more Deaf and hard of hearing people aged under 50.
• Developing content for our website so that it becomes a resource for organisations who want to improve their inclusion of Deaf and hard of hearing people.
The post holder will be a part of CfD’s Communities Team and will be expected to support the work of our other community projects i.e. our Deaf People Together and Community Hub projects. The post holder will be based at The Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2QQ.
The main responsibilities are to:
• To support the delivery of the Connecting People to Communities project so that it meets its aims by:
- Increasing our contact with organisations and hubs that work with minority ethnic groups throughout Bristol, particularly with those who support older people, and with organisations based in areas of deprivation.
- Working with community hubs (e.g. community centres, libraries etc) to provide regular CfD “drop-ins” – primarily as a first contact point and to alleviate isolation and loneliness.
- Signposting and referring individuals to appropriate services, and supporting individuals with connecting to communities.
- Providing advice and guidance to community hubs on how to make their venues, events and activities accessible to and inclusive of Deaf and hard of hearing people.
- Providing information on activities and events for Deaf and hard of hearing people across Bristol and local hubs.
- Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering and what support they need.
• To support the work of our Communities Team by:
- Helping to run events so that local Deaf and hard of hearing people and communities have their say about how services are developed.
- Planning and attending project events e.g. coffee mornings, workshops etc.
- Developing positive relationships between service providers and Deaf and hard of hearing people, and advising providers on how to improve their services to become more accessible and inclusive.
- Supporting the Community Development Officer with collecting project monitoring and evaluation data e.g. equality monitoring data, case studies on the experiences of Deaf and hard of hearing people, and recording information on the database.
- Supporting the Community Development Officer with publicising our Small Community Grants scheme, and supporting existing groups with organising their events/activities.
- Working with the Community Development Officer to set up and facilitate Deaf-led advisory group(s).
• To provide content from project activities for CfD’s website and social media, such as information about activities and events.
• Be part of the team representing CfD at local events and exhibitions.
• Be flexible in your working hours. You may be asked to represent the project at meetings/events outside core working hours, or to complete any other duties that may be reasonably required for the performance of this position.
General
• Attend conferences, training, and other staff development opportunities.
• Develop an agreed personal training plan and carry this out using internal and external training as required.

Terms and conditions:
1. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours a week. CfD’s core hours are 10am – 4pm. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
2. Contract until January 31st 2026, with possibility of an extension subject to further funding.
3. Salary £22,000 - £27,000 a year.
Note:
The final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the jobholder. The job description will be reviewed in the course of supervision meetings and any amendments will be negotiated with the jobholder. The jobholder is also expected to share in other CfD activities as time permits and by agreement with the CEO.
Person specification
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with good knowledge and empathy of the experience of Deaf and hard of hearing people. You will also have a pro active approach and be committed to helping and supporting others.
Essential skills and competencies:
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Able to anticipate problems and develop solutions.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• A positive attitude toward Deaf and hard of hearing people with an understanding of the barriers they face in their lives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in communicating with Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users and hard of hearing people. This may be direct communication or through a BSL interpreter or speech-to-text operator.
• Experience of supporting or working with groups of people, either as part of paid work or as a volunteer.
• Experience of consulting with individuals and communities or groups.
• Good influencing and negotiating skills so that you can persuade people to make their services more inclusive of deaf people.
• An understanding of the importance of evaluating the impact of project work
• Good attention to detail.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and associated software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel round Bristol as this role will require traveling to and from multiple places.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
• Personal experience of hearing loss.
• Good working knowledge and use of simple databases or CRMs (e.g. Charity Log). (CfD will provide training on Charity Log.)
• Knowledge of British Sign Language (CfD will provide training for the successful candidate if they do not have BSL skills).
• Experience working, paid or unpaid, in or with communities, the disability sector or in the third sector.

What you'll do:

You will be working within our Housing team to deliver an effective advice service for young people. Main tasks and responsibilities
Young people's services
Delivering a housing advice service to young people with multiple needs. This will include:
- Working to ensure young people receive a high-quality service from the point of registration to move-on. Taking a hands-on approach to dealing with complex or difficult cases.
- Carrying out thorough needs assessments with young people accessing the service in order to refer young people into appropriate accommodation and to external specialist services.
- Providing young people with expert advice and guidance relating to their housing situation. Monitoring and evaluating young people’s progress.
- Engaging other relevant external partners, able to provide accommodation and other move on opportunities to young people.
- Referring young people to other internal New Horizon Youth Centre teams in order to support their progression, including Health, Youth Work, Outreach and Jobs, Education and Training.
- Providing advocacy and referring young people to a wide range of specialist external advice services including around advocacy, substance misuse, mental health, immigration, counselling, financial/debt advice, and legal services.
- Attending regular briefings, team meetings, reflective practice and clinical supervision, both with NHYC and project partners. Ensuring that Health and Safety or safeguarding issues are addressed at all times.
Sharing best practice
To proactively share best practice with internal and external stakeholders in order to maximise the impact of the work of NHYC. This will include:
- Identifying and acting to maximise NHYC’s profile by seeking out and responding to opportunities with specialists and agencies who might offer resources, funding, or individual services relevant to client needs.
- Promoting and representing NHYC at relevant forums, meetings and events.
Information management
To produce and maintain accurate and useful information in a range of formats in order to promote effective service delivery and evaluation. This will include:
- Recording all contacts with clients appropriately and maintaining all relevant files and recording systems.
- Producing written reports in a variety of formats to meet the requirements of NHYC, external service providers and funders, e.g., project reviews and assessment reports.
- Inputting and extracting information from client monitoring systems and other accounting and database systems. Utilising other relevant software for the production of reports.
- Being self-servicing in day-to-day administration, and following team and NHYC’s administrative procedures.
Reviewing personal and professional development needs
To be proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement. This will include:

The Hummingbird Project is a youth-centred organisation that aims to provide trauma-informed services and promote youth-led action that is underpinned by our shared belief in human rights.

Position
This role is part of a small team that forms the secretariat for two vibrant, dynamic networks of mission-driven asset owners: the Charities Responsible Investment Network (CRIN) and the Responsible Investment Network – Universities (RINU). We support members to align their investments with their social and environmental missions and values through a tailored programme of networking, advocacy and educational activities. The networks are unique spaces, enabling members to collaborate, share best practice and be leaders at the cutting edge of thinking around what it means to be a responsible investor.
You will make a significant contribution to our team by supporting the design and delivery of our annual workplan for CRIN and RINU and engaging members to participate in network activities. You will be key to ensuring the smooth running of the secretariat, including monitoring and evaluation to ensure that our work is as impactful as possible.
The secretariat sits in ShareAction’s Investor Engagement team, which engages with a range of actors to develop and drive up standards of responsible investment. You will work closely with the Senior Engagement Manager (Asset Owner Networks), who manages the work of the networks, and with the Senior Research Manager (Investors), who supports members to leverage research and analysis, and engage with their financial service providers, such as asset managers and consultants.
In this fast-paced role, on a day-to-day basis, you might be:
- Designing new projects (such as an educational workshop or advocacy initiative) for our annual workplan of activities.
- Responding to enquiries from and holding meetings with members or prospective members (foundations, trusts, operational charities, universities and colleges).
- Organising quarterly member meetings, as well as other workshops on topics such as participatory decision-making in investment, artificial intelligence and responsible investment, or divestment and the arms trade (scheduling, agenda drafting, note taking, facilitating discussions and coordinating follow-up actions).
- Writing case studies or articles to showcase the cutting-edge work of members.
- Conducting small research tasks and drafting discussion papers to inform members of responsible investment approaches and best practice.

What you’ll bring to the team
We’re looking for someone with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be enthusiastic about movement building and working collaboratively as part of a network and able to develop good relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. While we hope we’ll find someone with the majority of the skills and experience on the person specification, we’re really keen to hear from you even if you don’t have them all. This is a varied role, and we’re looking for someone willing to get stuck in and learn: you’ll have the opportunity to develop and hone skills in network building, relationship management, project management and research.
We’re not looking for someone from a specific sector: you may have some experience in the charity or university sector, in environmental and/or social justice campaigning, or working on corporate or financial sector standards. You may be at an early stage in your career or someone with more experience who is looking for a change. Most importantly, you’ll have a real passion to make a positive difference for people and planet and be excited to shape the work of two networks at the cutting edge of thinking around what it means to be a responsible investor.
We are currently formalising our hybrid working policy; however, there is an expectation that you will be able to attend the London office or meetings at least four times a month. This role will require close collaboration with colleagues and network members, so it is important that the successful candidate can join us in person when required.

About the Role
The Young Adult Support Worker will work as part of a team delivering an assessment, support and move-on service to vulnerable clients in supported accommodation. The successful candidate will have a caseload of 8 clients aged 18-25, in a male-only supported accommodation in Waltham Forest.
You will be required to work from our offices in Lambeth once a week approximately or as the business need arises. Your work will be underpinned by the Depaul Endeavour model of assets-based, psychologically informed delivery. The aim is to ensure that every client leaves a Depaul service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.
Working under the direction, guidance and support of a manager/senior worker you will be responsible for a caseload of clients and share responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service. In accommodation-based services, you will ensure that the accommodation is properly maintained and support the client to sustain their tenancy and participate in a positive and successful move-on.
Key responsibilities include:
· You will carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker, and you will also take joint responsibility with your team members for the well-being and day-to-day support of all clients in the services
· You will lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service
· You will develop and implement SMART outcomes based support plans for your key clients
· You will deliver one-to-one and group support opportunities within their accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience in the clients we work with.
