A Rocha UK is a unique Christian nature conservation charity, mobilising Christians and churches to care for the natural world. We are the UK member of the international A Rocha federation of Christian conservation charities, with sister organisations in 24 countries.  A Rocha UK has a staff of 25 and many volunteers. We run nature conservation activities on our two reserves, advise a national network of conservation partners, inspire Christians to protect nature and act on climate change through our Wild Christian scheme, and run the popular Eco Church scheme for local churches. Our modern office is designed for collaboration and is close to overground and tube stations, with its own secure cycle and parking facilities. 

Purpose of role: 

Increasing and diversifying the sources of funding for A Rocha UK’s work is key to our fundraising strategy. The Grants and Legacies Manager will play a key role identifying potential granting bodies, writing and submitting bids, and managing reporting on grants from a range of sources, including  large foundations, and Church denominations.  In doing so, they will work closely with other staff, especially the CEO, programme staff, and other members of the fundraising team. They will also manage occasional legacies and, as capacity allows, develop a proactive legacy promotion programme. The successful candidate will have previous experience securing funds from trusts, as well as excellent writing skills, an interest in the environment and an active Christian faith. The post currently reports to the CEO.

Bid Writer

Location: Remote with regular meetings in London; candidates must be based in London or surrounding areas 

Salary: £36,000 per annum

Working Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Join All Ways Network (AWN) and play a central role in empowering grassroots Muslim organisations across the UK by securing critical funding and expanding sector capacity. 

Role Summary 

As our Bid Writer, you will strategically lead AWN’s fundraising support to grassroots primarily Muslim-led organisations. You will help shape the service and act as the primary advisor on grant funding, deliver high-quality bids, and build AWN’s capacity to increase the flow of resources into underserved communities. This is a chance to directly contribute to lasting social change for underrepresented Muslim communities in the UK. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and support bid writing for grassroots organisations aligned with AWN’s priorities. 

• Write grant applications directly on behalf of multiple small grassroots organisations, ensuring proposals are tailored to each funder's priorities and the unique strengths of each group.

• Design and deliver training sessions, webinars, and 1-to-1 support on grant writing. 

• Build strategic relationships with funders, local councils, and second-tier organisations. 

• Promote AWN’s funding support services across networks and platforms. 

• Represent AWN at sector events and advocacy platforms. 

• Track and evaluate the impact of bid writing support to inform strategy, reporting, and learning. Use feedback from unsuccessful bids to build learning resources and improve future applications.

• Maintain accurate CRM records and reporting systems. 

• Any other duties deemed appropriate for the role. 

Person Specification 

• Demonstrated experience in writing successful bids or grant applications 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Strong understanding of the UK charity and funding landscape 

• Cultural competency and understanding of issues affecting UK Muslim communities 

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines 

• Experience of working in small and dynamic teams 

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, CRM systems and familiar with digital platforms 

• Experience delivering training or webinars 

• Established relationships in the UK funding or Muslim charity sector 

• Experience working in a start-up or small charity environment

About the role:

This Best Companies Top 100 mid-sized company and Top 20 charity is looking to appoint an experienced fundraiser to help build income from corporate fundraising with an emphasis on securing long term and strategic partnerships.

Reporting to the Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for proactively generating significant income from five and six figure corporate partnerships by managing the new business pipeline, identifying new opportunities, building relationships and networking with key stakeholders and producing compelling applications and creative partnership proposals.

This is an excellent opportunity to build on previous experience and develop your skills in business development. Previous experience of securing high value, strategic partnerships in the third sector would be beneficial. The team has a proven track record in winning prestigious corporate partnerships which include: Macfarlanes LLP, Invesco, Knight Frank, Deutsche Bank, Nomura and high street names such as Kurt Geiger. Responsible for a third of the charity’s income the team are driven, highly motivated & results orientated.

• Knowledge of different corporate fundraising initiatives, including charity of the year, cause related marketing and strategic partnerships – you understand the components of a mutually beneficial and multi-faceted partnership, and have proven experience of prospect management and winning new business.
• You thrive working in a busy environment on multiple priorities simultaneously – results-oriented and a fast learner, you respond quickly to pressure and a changing environment.
• Confident use of MSOffice and experience of using a database – you have strong attention to detail, won’t miss a deadline and record accurate data using CRM systems.
