We’re back with the latest facts and figures from the labour market. This update is based on the jobs posted on CharityJob during April–June 2024.
Demand for jobs
Overall demand from candidates increased by 35% year on year, with a job getting an average of 31 clicks on the ‘Apply’ button.
From January to May the average number of clicks on ‘Apply’ was relatively stable. But in June it decreased by 24% from May.
Candidate numbers
Candidate registrations increased by 20% year on year. There was an 8% from March to April, in contrast to 2022 and 2023 where candidate registrations decreased from March to April.
In the next quarter we should expect candidate registrations to remain stable for July, then increase steadily to reach a peak for the year in October/November. We expect to continue to outperform both 2022 and 2023.
The number of active candidates (candidates who logged into their account) on our site increased by 6% year on year.
Number of jobs posted
The number of jobs posted in the last quarter decreased by 16% from last year. So far in 2024, job numbers have remained below both 2022 and 2023 figures.
While in 2023 we saw more extreme peaks and troughs in job numbers, in 2024 they’ve remained fairly stable until dropping in June.
Job categories
The category with the highest number of jobs available in the last quarter was Admin with 2,493 jobs. However, this category was only the eighth most in-demand from candidates.
Fundraising also saw a high number of jobs available, but wasn’t among the top 10 most in-demand categories.
Policy/Research jobs were the most in demand, with a job in this category getting an average of 75 clicks on ‘Apply’.
