We have over 59 years’ experience helping communities in the UK, Cyprus, India, the Philippines, Northern Ireland and Uganda; with our current projects being in Northern Ghana and Brixton, UK. We help communities build futures free from violent conflict through practical projects that both tackle the root causes of the division and bring the sides together to build trust and healthy relationships.

About Being a Trustee

CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service) trustees play a crucial role in advancing peace in communities worldwide. Working collaboratively as part of the Board, they provide strategic oversight to the organisation, helping to strengthen its impact and sustainability by bringing their unique expertise and skills to the team. We're particularly looking for a trustee with a strong background in finance, accounting or bookkeeping in order to help support our Director and Board in there oversight of financial matters.

We hope that the experience of being a trustee for CHIPS will be rewarding. As well as making a difference to the communities that we support, we hope you will gain satisfaction from generously giving of your time. We want to have a Board of Trustees who are diverse in their experience and knowledge so that impact can be sustained. Whilst specific roles may vary, the overall duties are:

• Ensuring that CHIPS pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its constitution, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy in coordination with CHIPS staff and project teams
• Ensuring that CHIPS complies with its constitution, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensuring that CHIPS applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects for the benefit of the public
• Ensuring that CHIPS defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets
• Safeguarding the good name and values of CHIPS
• Ensuring the effective and efficient governance of CHIPS, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
• Ensuring the financial stability of CHIPS
• Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds
• Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the senior leadership of CHIPS
• Communicating on behalf of the organisation, if necessary
• Facilitating any feedback or complaints so that any issues are addressed swiftly

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Finance Trustee specific role

• Reviewing quarterly management accounts and highlighting any variances or financial risks to the board.
• Supporting the annual budgeting process by advising on assumptions, cost control, and sustainability.
• Overseeing the preparation of annual accounts with CHIPS staff and working with the auditor or independent examiner as needed.
• Helping develop and monitor financial policies such as reserves, investments, and internal controls.
• Providing strategic financial insight to guide decision-making on fundraising, staffing, or new initiatives.

Person specification
CHIPS is particularly looking for new trustees who have strong backgrounds in finance to support the Director and team members. However, CHIPS is also looking to more generally increase the number of trustees so if you feel you have expertise which could benefit CHIPS, please still get in touch.

About the role

The Martin James Foundation is currently seeking a new Chair as our founding, current Chair comes to the end of their term later this year. This is an exciting time for the Foundation as we continue to deliver on our new strategy.

We are looking for an individual who will contribute to guiding the charity on its mission to support children and families around the world.

Who we are looking for

We seek someone:

• Ideally with experience in a leadership capacity within the provision of global development and/or in children’s protection, social care or care reform.
• Experienced on Boards and will work to lead our board to ensure good governance and strategic innovation.
• With excellent interpersonal skills and diplomatic tact. You’ll develop a strong working relationship with our Chief Executive and maintain connections with key stakeholders globally.
• A collaborative leader who can bring people together, foster a team environment, and work in partnership with our board and team to drive our ambitious strategy.
• Local or national government engagement experience, such as securing and delivering contracts or lobbying for policy change is highly desirable.
• The availability to prepare for and attend quarterly board meetings, quarterly sub-committee meetings and monthly CEO catch-ups.
• UK, or amenable to attend meetings within GMT working hours, and amenable to attending one face-to-face meeting per annum.

About MEAM

Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) is the national charity dedicated to transforming services and systems for people facing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, mental ill health, substance use, and contact with the criminal justice system. We work with local areas, policymakers, and people with lived experience to drive meaningful, lasting change.

Established in 2009 as a coalition of Clinks, Collective Voice, Homeless Link, and Mind, MEAM collaborates with over 50 local areas across England to improve responses and change lives for people experiencing multiple disadvantage.

We offer hands-on support, consultancy, and training to local cross-sector partnerships, helping them design and deliver better-coordinated services. Central to MEAM’s work is the MEAM Approach, a framework that guides local areas in creating sustainable, systemic change through principles such as partnership, co-production, and flexible service responses. By working alongside practitioners, policymakers, and people with lived experience, MEAM strives to address the root causes of multiple disadvantage and promotes equitable access to support services.

In January 2025, MEAM transitioned from its coalition structure to operate as an independent charity, with our founding partners continuing to serve on the board, reinforcing our collective commitment to collaborative and intersectional approaches in tackling complex social challenges.

About the roles

As a Trustee on the board of MEAM, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the charity through the next phase of growth and development.

Working closely with the Chair and the rest of the board, you will provide strategic leadership, ensuring MEAM continues to drive systemic change for people facing multiple disadvantage.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of a national organisation dedicated to improving services, systems and policies at both local and national levels.

As a Trustee, you will be instrumental in strengthening MEAM’s long-term sustainability and expanding our reach. Your leadership will help our team drive systemic change, influence national policy, and create more equitable, trauma-informed systems.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking individuals who can complement the current board by bringing a range of skills and experience. In particular, we are keen to hear from individuals whose skills and experience relate to one or more of the following areas:

• Lived experience of multiple disadvantage (with an interest in using this expertise alongside other skills to support and inform change)
• Public sector and commissioning expertise (for example, experience in local or national government, housing, homelessness, health, public health, mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence or criminal justice)
• Commercial expertise in a social context (for example, experience in social or public sector consultancy and training, social enterprise or mission-driven business)

All candidates should have a knowledge of one or more sectors related to our work, share our passion of working for, and with, people experiencing multiple disadvantage, and have knowledge of our systemic and intersectional approach.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetic neuromuscular condition causing progressive muscle wasting (atrophy) and weakness leading to loss of movement.

Our current chair has been in the position for 6 years and after serving their maximum term, we are seeking a new Chair to lead the charity and help us deliver our four year strategic plan ‘Building a future together’.

The chair provides a pivotal role in ensuring the charity has a well governed organisation, strong staff team and board with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, with one shared goal of working towards the organisational mission underpinned by our values and principles.

The chair will support the CEO and ensure that the board functions as a unit and works closely with the senior leadership team to achieve agreed objectives. From time to time the chair will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the CEO. An effective chairperson is a key player in ensuring effective governance for the charity.

Hope at Home is a growing and ambitious charity established in January 2018 (Charity no 1176802) which works to provide safe homes for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK.

We are at an exciting phase of growth and development and are particularly looking for motivated, committed people with experience of:

• Lived experience of modern slavery or human trafficking, homelessness or the asylum & immigration system.
• Working knowledge of immigration / housing law.
• Working knowledge of marketing.
