Becoming a trustee for Home-Start Southwark (HSS) is an exciting and fulfilling role. The role of a trustee is to ensure that HSS fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries through contributing to the strategic development, effective governance and financial management of the organisation. The board of trustees are both jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of HSS, its financial health, the integrity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people with the following skillsets:

With several independent members coming to the end of their respective terms of office by the end of this academic year, we seek to appoint new members to support our succession planning. We are looking to engage new Governors from various backgrounds with the expertise, experience, and commitment to play a vital role in shaping DN College Group’s continued success and growth.

• Help ensure compliance with our legal obligations and the organisation’s core purpose. 

• Provide oversight of the budget to guarantee School-Home Support’s financial sustainability. 

• Ensure measures are in place for safeguarding for the children and families we support and the staff team

• Act as a champion and ambassador for School-Home Support, enhancing our reputation, representing us at key events, and supporting fundraising efforts.

We exist to support local residents and have proudly done so for over 70 years. Since 1991, we have operated a busy and vibrant community centre, providing a range of activities for people of all ages, from after-school clubs to programmes for older people. We also run a successful community food pantry, café, and catering operation.

We are ambitious about doing even more for local people and are embarking on a period of growth after developing a new theory of change and securing investment to enhance several aspects of our building.
