What does a Trustee do!
A Trustee’s role is to act in the best interests of the organization. They are accountable for the organization’s finances, legal affairs, overall performance, and serious arising issues. Trustees must ensure that executives align with the organization’s purpose and mission, acting in ways that advance these goals and uphold the organization’s values. Statutory duties include ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding assets, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Commitment
Each Trustee will attend Trustee meetings on a regular basis, a Trustee may also be appointed as a Co Chair and into other roles such as Treasurer and Secretary, and also may join a committee.

Immediate Theatre is a Hackney based community arts organisation with almost 30 years’ experience of providing quality arts opportunities in East London. We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. Estimated time commitment 25 hours a year.
We are particularly keen to engage people with at least one of the following attributes:
- Young people under 25 interested in developing leadership skills.
- Lived experience of the issues facing our participants e.g.:
- 90% of our youth theatre participants are from diverse ethnic backgrounds and a high proportion experience economic disadvantage, we know of 115 regular participants who access Free School Meals.
- 32% of registered participants have special educational needs or a disability
- Many participants on our Pathways to Employment programme have mental health challenges
- We work with over 60’s including those experiencing long term illness
- Knowledge about education, we are keen to engage someone with knowledge of Secondary Education and/or academic connections with a relevant University
- Experience of managing a similar size organisation or team
- Experience of marketing.
- Experience in the community arts sector

Safer and Supportive Salisbury (SaSS) is a small local charity with a big heart and a wide reach, leading a network of local people and organisations working together towards creating a safe, supportive and inclusive community for everyone who lives or works in the city and for all visitors to Salisbury and surrounding areas. SaSS works in partnership with local community groups and colleagues in local government and health.
SaSS achieved charity registration in October 2023 and their three year National Lottery Community Fund grant was approved in March 2024, opening new doors for the charity.
SaSS is seeking a Treasurer to oversee the financial affairs of the charity and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice. Working with SaSS is rewarding and satisfying and provides good links to all parts of the local community. You will interact with local community groups and learn about projects taking place to support people in all walks of life, who need help because of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other social or economic disadvantage.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to charities registered in England and Wales
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management to provide oversight of current bookkeeper
- Good financial analysis skills
- Ability to communicate clearly
