Age Cymru is seeking three new trustees to join our passionate and highly skilled board. Whether you're an experienced trustee or considering your first board role, we’d love to hear from you.

As the national charity for older people in Wales, Age Cymru works to ensure that older people are valued, included, and empowered to shape the decisions that affect their lives. We deliver trusted advice, support, and services, and use our insight to influence policies that matter.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in individuals with skills or experience in:

• Communications
• Marketing
• Fundraising or income generation
• Law
• Government
• Business

We  particularly welcome applications from:

• Welsh speakers
• People living in North and Mid Wales
• Individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds

Your perspective and lived experience can help us broaden representation and deepen our impact.

Commitment

• Four board meetings per year, plus a two-day strategy meeting in November
• Meetings are held online or in person on weekdays
• Preparation includes reading board papers in advance
• Many trustees also contribute through committee work

ABOUT IRMO

IRMO works to enable the development, agency, and participation of Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change. Our work is organised across three main operational areas - Advice and Casework; Education, Training and Employment; Children and Young People - and a cross-cutting area -Advocacy, Research, Policy Mapping and Campaigning.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role sits within our Education, Training and Employment Area, which provides online ESOL classes and conversation classes to our service users. You will be responsible for using a syllabus as a guidance and teaching and materials from our bank of resources, along with a variety of audiovisual aids, to teach the four basic English language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to Latin American migrants and refugees.

We are seeking volunteers holding either a formal teaching qualification (CELTA, CertESOL or similar) or prior experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons via Zoom

• Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for learners

• Prepare and set tests, examination papers and exercises as appropriate

• Mark and provide relevant feedback on oral and written work

• Keep classes on track according to the syllabus/learning outcomes instructed

• Ensure learners’ participation during classes and monitor attendance;

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, identify gaps and adapt activities to learners’ needs

• Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records as required

• Outcome and impact measurement for class students at the end of each course as relevant

We’re looking for one Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based at Montgomery Court, Choir Close, Rochester, Kent, ME3 8FP.

You’ll be volunteering every Wednesday between 10:30am and 12:30pm.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group.  The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

The volunteer will be

· A people person, with good listening skills

· A great communicator who enjoys meeting new people

· Good at putting people at ease

· Reliable and organised

· Passionate about supporting people affected by stroke

· IT literate, have good administrative and record keeping skills and be able to follow relevant policies

A DBS check is required for this role.
