Job description

At Ambitious about Autism we are currently looking for a Data Protection Support Officer to join our Finance and Planning team.

You'll take ownership of data protection compliance across the Ambitious about Autism group. You'll provide staff across the organisation with the guidance and tools needed to ensure that Ambitious about Autism (AaA) and the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust (AaAST) comply with all data protection obligations.

You'll proactively design systems, controls and policies to ensure the organisation is up to speed regarding data protection best practice and any regulatory developments, working to safeguard the data of the children, young people and families support by AaA and AaAST, as well as its service users, supporters and staff.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Knowledge and proven experience working in a data protection role.
  • Knowledge and experience of handling children's data, particularly in education and care settings, and an understanding of the Age Appropriate Design Code and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Knowledge and experience of data privacy legislation including the Data Protection Act, UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
  • Proven records management expertise with the ability to accurately maintain and update registers specifically related to data protection.
