Job description

Are you a dedicated, enthusiastic, experienced community manager? Do you know how to tailor interactions with wide and varied audiences? Are you brilliant at developing and organising great events whether virtual or in person? We’re looking for an outstanding Community and Social Media Manager to help us in our mission to create breakthroughs that enable autistic people to live longer, happier, healthier lives.

This is a new role for Autistica – the UK’s leading autism research charity – at an exciting time in our growth as a charity. We are a small but dedicated team of people with big ambitions. But we can’t do this on our own. To create real change, autistic people and their families must be the central pillar in everything we do. That’s why we need you.

As our community manager, your reach will span from direct, one-on-one relationships with members of the Autistica Insight Group all the way through to managing our broad and varied social media audiences. You’ll be adept at responding quickly and sensitively to enquiries covering a wide range of topics and you’ll be willing to admit when you don’t know things and seek out the answers to support the people we work with and for.

You need to have a great grasp of data, logistics, community building and digital marketing and be utterly passionate about connecting with people in an individual, human way. We’re looking for someone who will fit in with our culture here at Autistica, which means you’ll need to be kind, compassionate and eager to develop yourself and the role.

We particularly encourage applications from autistic people, people with other neurodevelopmental conditions and people from all underrepresented groups within the sector.
