The primary aim of this role is to help Money and Mental Health secure the income it needs to deliver its mission and further strengthen the charity’s financial footing for the future. This is a crucial role in our new Fundraising team, and the successful candidate will work across all elements of our income generation activities - from grant-writing to donor stewardship and pipeline development.
The role will have a particular focus on securing funding from Trusts and Foundations, but there will also be ample opportunities to engage corporate partners and other prospective funders.
The successful candidates will have the chance to bring their ideas in terms of identifying new routes to funding for the organisation and shaping our income generation activities.
Key responsibilities:
Funding bids and proposals

Draft and develop effective and impactful fundraising bids and proposals to secure both grant income and corporate sponsorship

Project manage the process of developing funding proposals - including completing funding checklists, coordinating the team on relevant deadlines and booking in time for sign off from relevant colleagues.
Relationship management
-
Play a key role in donor stewardship alongside Head of Fundraising and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including grant makers, corporates and individual donors
-
Support SLT in identifying - and building relationships with - relevant individuals within prospective funder organisations - including coordinating meetings.

Ensure we stay on top of our grant requirements, including drafting grant reports and coordinating other team members to fulfil those requirements

Work with External Affairs team to create excellent supporter journeys for online donors.
Pipeline development

Work with Head of Fundraising to undertake research into new fundraising prospects and to develop a strong funder pipeline

Stay on top of new developments in the charity sector and wider funding landscape

Make recommendations to Head of Fundraising on new funders we should engage with or seek to build relationships with

Maintain accurate pipeline data and prospect records, ensuring regular updates
Planning, strategy and vision

Contribute to the delivery of our income generation strategy - including meeting relevant targets set out in the strategy.

Support the team with advance planning on funding bids, project managing complex cross-team processes, matrix-managing small project teams and ensuring all key milestones are met

Proactively suggest ideas for ways of improving our processes and ways of working to better support our income generation targets or better deliver our work.

Essential qualities

A proven track record of securing five-figure grants or income from trusts, foundations and/or corporate partners.

The World Obesity Federation is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our MAPPS project team as a Health Systems Co-Ordinator. This innovative MAPPS project aims to improve obesity care and prevention in health systems through improved evidence generation, coalition building, and policy engagement.

About Chapter One
Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the role
Chapter One is seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Business Development Officer to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and take Chapter One into new regions across the UK.

Summary
The purpose of this role is to use communications to contribute to the success of Nesta’s healthy life mission, which aims to halve obesity by 2030. The post holder will lead on strategic communications for the healthy life mission, seeking and securing opportunities for Nesta to advance its policy agenda and build its public profile.
This includes proposing and planning communications, partnership development and management, public affairs activities; being the strategic lead for stakeholder relationships across the mission; and owning the mission narrative and messaging, ensuring salience and consistency of key messages and communications outputs.
The role will:
- Lead on strategic communications: translating and applying communications skills to a health context, providing tailored communications advice that is specific to the domain area to deliver high-impact communications activity for the mission. This will include the development and delivery of influencing strategies for our policy priorities and related public affairs activity.
- Draft and edit a variety of communications content, driving through from conception to delivery and evaluation.
- Act as strategic lead on healthy life mission stakeholder relationships: identifying target stakeholders, having an overview of engagement with them across the mission, planning and supporting engagement activities.
- Manage partnership communications with partners, from high profile industry partners to NGOs, identifying and mitigating risks to protect Nesta’s reputation and spotting and delivering on opportunities to enhance it
- Use excellent project and people management skills to coordinate the smooth, efficient delivery and evaluation of a number of high-impact communications campaigns at any one time.
- Lead on discrete communications projects such as commissioning creative content, audience research or narrative development and testing.
This role sits as part of both the communications team (made up of specialists across media, marketing, events and content production), and healthy life mission team (including experts across policy, research, behavioural science, data science and design).
The role does not have direct line management responsibility, but all communications and mission team members are expected to play a role in supporting the learning and development of more junior members of the team.

The person
You should have the following skills and/or experience:
- Professional communications experience (essential): You will have proven experience of working in a communications or public affairs role. A creative thinker and experienced writer and editor, you will have experience of working on a variety of communications outputs designed to inform and influence different audiences and stakeholders, such as blogs, briefings and pitch decks.
- Managing integrated communications campaigns (essential): You will have proven experience of driving and delivering successful communications campaigns to achieve policy impact and influence.
- Project delivery skills (essential): You will have proven experience of delivering high-impact communications campaigns from conception to delivery and evaluation. You can proactively plan and deliver work, and identify and act on risks and find solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills (essential): You will have experience of applying these effectively to collaborate well with colleagues, build stakeholder relationships and develop partnerships.
- Knowledge of the UK health and/or food sector (essential): You will have knowledge of how the UK health and/or food sector works from experience gained in a heath and/or food-related communications role, either in the NHS, local or national government or the third sector. If you don’t have relevant professional professional experience, you will have a proven interest.
- Knowledge of political systems and government in the UK (desirable): You will have knowledge and understanding of how policy is made and developed, and of the wider political system, including central and devolved governments and parliaments, ideally gained in a professional context.
As with all members of the Nesta Group communications team, the postholder will also be at their best working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, have a flexible approach and an appetite for taking on new tasks and challenges. They will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to write for a range of different audiences.

The Role

You'll work within a small, dedicated and talented team and will play a central role in shaping how Brain Research UK tells its story; leading the development of high-quality, impact led content that brings research and lived experience together to build support loyalty and increase public engagement and understanding.
The role has real scope for impact and innovation and will work closely with colleagues from across the charity, including the CEO, to build on strong foundations. Core responsibilities within the role will include:
- Lead all digital communications, including website, social media and online campaigns
- Manage and create content for the website, overseeing written, visual and video
- Develop and deliver a planned schedule of communications activity across all channels.
- Develop and maintain a compelling library of supporter stories (written, film and imagery), ensuring appropriate permissions and coverage across key research areas
- Work with colleagues to source, craft and share stories that demonstrate impact and inspire support
- Collaborate with colleagues to translate funded research into clear, engaging stories that show how science changes lives
- Work closely with the fundraising team to optimise digital communications
- Engage with and respond to the organisation's online community in a timely, supportive and professional manner
- Ensure consistent use of brand, tone and values in line with brand guidelines
- Track and analyse digital performance using tools such as Google Analytics and income reports, using insight to continuously improve effectiveness
- Report on how communications activity drives engagement, enquiries, donations and pledges
- Manage relationships with third-party agencies where required, including briefing, objectives and evaluation
- Coordinate corporate communications such as the annual review and impact report

About the Role
This role leads the day to day delivery of a national patient and public involvement and engagement service supporting research. Legacies form a key source of income for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), raising approximately £100m a year for our life‑saving research.
As a Legacy Manager, you will manage, protect, and optimise this income. You'll work alongside three other Legacy Managers, supporting the Head of Legacy Management to build on the team’s successes and to optimise the BHF’s income from gifts in Wills.
Joining a thriving team, you’ll undertake a variety of work, including managing casework in accordance with the law, best practice, and BHF’s processes and procedures, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical guidance to colleagues and potential legacy givers, and line managing two Assistant Legacy Officers and our Legacy Administrator.
This role may also require deputising for the Head of Legacy Management.
About you
You'll either have extensive experience in legacy management within the charities legacy sector; or be a Qualified Private Client Solicitor; or be a Qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners; or be a Qualified Chartered Legal Executive with experience of Wills and Probate.
