LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Worker (VCW) – 1 post. 
REF:- FWP/VCW/MID/NOV
£29,400 per annum, pro rata, based on 37.5 hours per week.
Based in the Midlands region.
Remote worker (with some face-to-face activity across the Midlands region).
Fixed Term Contract – 32 months.
Full time hours for the first 20 months and 0.7 FTE for the following 12 months.  These hours are in line with grant funding. 

Fighting With Pride (FWP) is looking for an outstanding regionally focused LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Worker covering the West and East Midlands region (Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, West Midlands, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire). 

For a fixed term contract of 32 months, this fundamental, enabling, rewarding and busy role will make a real difference to the lives of LGBTQ+ Veterans, serving personnel and their families, around the UK.  You will be working as part of team of VCWs covering England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) are funding this post.

FWP was formed in January 2020 to support LGBTQ+ Veterans, serving personnel and their families and is a registered charity, founded by Caroline Paige and Craig Jones, now led by Peter Gibson and overseen by a dynamic and experienced Board of Trustees.   

An increasing number of Veterans are contacting our charity, particularly since the publication of the Etherton Report, and we want to add to our exceptional team to support them.  You will be signposting service users to organisations where they will receive a warm welcome and will develop their self-esteem, self-confidence, independence and resilience, and working those organisations to enable positive LGBTQ+ inclusion. In addition, you will be highlighting access to the scheme of reparations arising from the Etherton Report.

An LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Team Manager will support you, along with the Executive team at FWP.

You will have a keen interest in, and thorough understanding of, the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ Veterans community (or other related community), previous experience of supporting and developing service users, strong relationship building skills and be a self-starter with a passion for helping people.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to join our team as a Regional Manager. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations at the hub and in the community, coordinating activities that support disabled and disadvantaged individuals. The successful candidate will also take on regional responsibilities, contributing to the development and sustainability of the charity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinate all activities and operations to ensure smooth functioning in the Warwickshire area and across regional sites in The Midlands.

· Work alongside the Head of Operations and their teams, ensuring consistency and quality across services.

· Lead on regional development initiatives, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation in service delivery.

· Support the charity’s sustainability goals, including environmental, financial, and operational practices.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

· A recognised qualification at degree level or equivalent in one or more of the following: Teaching, Social Care, Project Management, Leadership, or a related field.

· Evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role.

· Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete upon appointment).

· Clean driving license with access to transport for regional and national travel.

· Proven experience in a management or leadership role within a relevant sector.

· Demonstrable experience of supporting disabled or disadvantaged individuals.

· Strong understanding of inclusive practice and person centred approaches.

· Experience in project management, including planning, delivery, and evaluation.

· Ability to lead and supervise teams across multiple locations.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.

· Experience in handling HR matters such as recruitment, performance management, and staff wellbeing.

· Ability to travel across regional and national sites as required.

· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other relevant software systems.

Desirable Criteria

· Experience in charity development, sustainability planning, or strategic growth.

· Familiarity with animal-assisted learning techniques and alternative education models.

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and compliance requirements.

· Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and emotional intelligence in leadership.

The successful candidate will spend their time delivering a frontline welfare benefits triaging service with the support of a senior caseworker. 

To succeed, you will need experience of advice work which includes using a benefits calculator and signposting. The role also involves managing our telephone and email inbox into the advice service and obtaining feedback about the service from clients alongside initial advice giving. The role will include some casework including concessionary travel claims when capacity allows and with relevant training. 

You will need excellent communication skills and be unphased by people presenting with multiple issues, often in emotional distress. You’ll be excited by the challenge of learning new things and have a good knowledge of the services used by disabled people.

This is a home-based role, with some travel around Barnet needed, approx. 2 days a month. Most of the triaging work can be completed online or over the telephone, but there may be a need for some face-to-face client work from time to time. About the role

As our National Lead for Domestic Abuse, you will:

• Lead the development and delivery of a national approach and best practice for domestic abuse services, working collaboratively with internal experts and stakeholders.
• Drive the continual improvement of service quality, embedding robust procedures, quality assurance frameworks, and evidence-based practice.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of resources, tools, and interventions that support victims and enhance service effectiveness.

About you

You will have:

• Demonstrable experience developing and delivering services for victims of domestic abuse, ensuring accessibility and engagement for people with diverse backgrounds and needs.
• In-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system and its impact on victims.
• Experience working in partnership to support domestic abuse service development and delivery.
• Proven ability to engage with victims in co-production, and a strong appreciation of the dynamics of domestic abuse in different settings.
• A track record of effective project management and stakeholder engagement in complex organisations.

Requirements: 

Looking for an individual that can inspire and develop a team, is willing to learn and has a passion for working with children, young people and their families. With a recognised qualification in Early Years / Childcare at Level 3 with a proven track record of 5 year's experience in a management / leadership role in an early years setting.

Experience of: 

• devising and applying a high quality curriculum for young children within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Churchill Fellowship is a unique programme that empowers UK citizens to discover new solutions from around the world to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing communities in the UK. Each year, we fund over 100 Fellows to explore innovative ideas, best practices, and cutting-edge projects anywhere in the world that relate to the issues they care about most.

Purpose of the role:

Are you curious about the society we live in and passionate about making a difference? We’re looking for a creative, passionate and organised manager to join the newly established Activate Team.

The Activate Manager will manage the delivery of the new Activate Fund, which has been designed to enable Churchill Fellows to turn their ideas into action for the benefit of individuals and communities in the UK.

The role will also collaborate closely with the Research and Engagement team to design and deliver new forms of non-financial support for Fellows, enabling them to maximise the impact of their learning, and their potential to create change.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Application support

• Acting as the first point of contact for the Activate Fund, managing the inbox, responding to enquiries, providing empathetic and tailored support to applicants and grant holders.
•  Designing and delivering support for applicants, for example webinars, 1:1 surgeries, contributing to guidance materials and media content.
• Contributing to the development of Fund documentation, including updating email templates used at each stage of the selection process, in close collaboration with the Salesforce team.
• Participating in longlisting applications alongside the Head of Activate to create a strong shortlist for external panels.
• Co-ordinating the shortlisting and interview process: creating the interview timetable, inviting, briefing and training panel members, liaising with interview candidates, organizing relevant documentation, and supporting the smooth running of interviews.
• Working with the Communications team, supporting the development of key messaging in the run-up to the launch of the Activate Fund in Spring 2026, including drafting web copy and e-news, sourcing case studies and quotes.

2. Grants Management

• Liaising with Activate grant holders to ensure award documentation is signed and returned and responding to any queries.
• Being the main point of contact for Activate grantholders, offering or signposting appropriate advice and support to aid successful project delivery.
• Managing the reporting and payment process in close collaboration with the Salesforce and Finance teams, reviewing progress reports, approving payments and requests for changes to grant duration or budget allocation within agreed Fund parameters.

3. Capacity Building

• Exploring, designing and delivering or brokering a range of additional support for grant holders, such as coaching, mentoring, convening, network-building, skills development and action learning.
• Collaborating with colleagues in the Research and Engagement team to make sure this capacity-building programme complements the wider Fellowship offer.

4. Evaluation and learning 

• Supporting the ongoing improvement of the Activate Fund through analysis of application and award trends and by collecting and reviewing feedback, with a particular focus on EDI.
• Contributing to external evaluations and internal reviews of the impact of the Fund, as required, for example through the provision of monitoring data, sourcing of Fellows for interview.

5. Fellowship Team 

• As part of the Fellowship Team, contributing to the overall preparation and running of Connect and Inspire, the annual event for new Fellows, and the biennial Award Ceremony.
• Being a proactive and collaborative member of the team, providing support to colleagues where required during busy periods of the year and contributing to a culture of ongoing and open learning.

Person Specification

• Grant making experience with evidence of supporting the delivery of a selection process and/or managing a portfolio of grants.
• Experience of designing and delivering learning programmes, facilitating communities of practice and/or providing coaching/ mentoring to support individuals to achieve their potential.
• Experience of working with or supporting people with lived experience in a learning, project management or funding role. Desirable
• Experience of piloting and evaluating new interventions/programmes with a view to scale. Desirable 
• Experience using and interacting with Salesforce (or similar CRM) and of working collaboratively with a data management/systems team.
• Experience in analysing and interpreting data for the purpose of monitoring, evaluation and improvement. Desirable 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for communicating face-to-face, in writing and by telephone with individuals at all levels.
• Strong numeracy skills, with an ability to assess viability of project budgets, review financial reports and manage grant payments.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and comfort with facilitating meetings via video conferencing platforms 
• Excellent organisational, and time management skills with an ability to prioritise competing demands 
• Evidence of working in a team and contributing to a culture of a diverse and collaborative working environment 
• Experience of developing relationships with external organisations, teams, and individuals to source additional support and ideas.

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office for a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings and Thursday as an additional core day for Senior Leaders.

About Our Role

You will contribute to the strategic direction of F6IT ensuring we achieve our vision where disabled children and young people with their family and friends can together and inclusively, enjoy a rewarding life which is fun, beneficial and above all fulfilling. 

As the Operations Manager you will work with the CEO and Trustees to manage and oversee the operations and administration in line with the strategic direction of F6IT.  This will include a variety of different task and activities.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead day to day management of all F6IT activities. This includes the planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive events, clubs and fitness activities
• Coordinate Coaches, Session Leads and Volunteers to ensure activities and session are well planned and staffed
• Work with the Social Media Lead to advertise and promote activities and events
• Develop and monitor kdy performance indicators (KPIs) and analyse data to identify trends and areas of improvements
• Work with CEO and Trustees to develop and plan new events, clubs and fitness activities
• Oversee bookings, payments and banking related to events and activities
• Track DBS checks, mandatory and additonal training for all Volunteers, Staff and Trustees

This role will create a real impact in the Lord’s Hill Community by working alongside our Academy colleagues to support Oasis students and the wider community. Helping more young people to engage with support and provision, including the therapeutic space of our city farm.
