The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership role with real breadth, influence and meaning. As Operational Manager, you will ensure our core services are delivered with compassion, quality and consistency — while never losing sight of the lived experience of carers themselves.

You will lead and support our Service Managers and Team Leaders, create clarity through strong operational planning, and foster a culture where empathy, learning and accountability go hand in hand. You’ll use insight and data to drive improvement, while ensuring that carers’ voices remain central to how services are designed, delivered and evaluated.

This is a role for someone who can balance heart and head — leading people with kindness and emotional intelligence, while confidently overseeing performance, safeguarding, resources and contracts.

About the role

Reporting in to the Central Supporter Engagement Advisor, the Church Engagement Support Officer will focus on inspiring and engaging churches, Christian Aid groups, and the public across UK to support Christian Aid’s mission.

The post-holder will build and maintain relationships, maximising participation in appeals and campaigns, providing fundraising support, and managing feedback to uphold Christian Aid's reputation, and will ensure donations and gifts are processed efficiently in the CRM system to meet donor requirements and maintain accurate supporter information for effective contact, building relationships based on trust and openness.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Church Engagement Support Officer include:

• Build trust-based relationships with supporters to deepen their connection with Christian Aid’s mission, proactively engaging with new and lapsed churches to inspire them to give, act, and pray.
• Provide high quality stewardship to supporters making donations, processing payments quickly, effectively, and accurately, and manage associated data with care and diligence.
• Collaborate across a diverse range of audiences to provide tailored advice and support, enabling impactful fundraising efforts. 
• Understand supporter perspectives by maintaining open communication and aligning interactions with Christian Aid's values, while critically evaluating processes to improve engagement during key campaigns and appeals.
• Commit to high-quality interactions with supporters, consistently managing feedback and complaints to uphold Christian Aid’s values and goals. 
• Maintain accurate supporter information on the CRM system, and ensure donations and gifts are processed effectively to maximise impact. 
• Contribute to impactful projects by developing supporter knowledge and providing training to colleagues, strengthening supporter relationships and engagement.

• Demonstrable experience of customer care and the importance of building relationships.
• Demonstrable experience and confidence in engaging supporters over the phone and discussing financial giving. 
• Experience of using supporter/customer database.
• Ability to actively listen to supporters on the phone, identifying relevant opportunities for further engagement. 
• Developed communication skills to influence verbally; inspiring and encouraging engagement.

Due to an expansion in our work to provide training and e-learning to raise awareness of unpaid carers and of the issues and challenges they face with a range of professionals, we are excited to recruit a Training and Learning Officer to lead our work in this area. The post holder will develop, maintain and deliver a suite of e-learning, and in person and online training.

About you

You’ll have knowledge and experience of designing, developing and delivering training. You’ll be experienced in conducting research and analysing data with an understanding of the issues impacting carers, and the systems in which they operate. You’ll be a strong communicator and be able to balance a diverse range of projects.

Team Leader - Carer Peer Support (Adult Mental Health)

We are looking for someone to join our local, independent, carer-led charity, someone with their own personal story of caring having helped a family member, partner, or friend because they find everyday life challenging on their own due to illness, disability, mental health needs, substance misuse, or age-related conditions. The ideal candidate will be able to draw on their lived experience, alongside their professional skills and knowledge, to support and help others. 

An unpaid carer is someone who regularly helps a family member, partner, or friend because they find everyday life challenging on their own due to illness, disability, mental health needs, substance misuse, or age-related. This might include helping with personal care, medication, appointments, household tasks, or offering emotional support. Unpaid carers can be adults or young people, often balancing caring alongside school, work, or family life. Caring for someone can feel like “just helping out,” but recognising this role can unlock vital advice, support, and services. 

The postholder will collaborate extensively with our funding partner, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust, as well as other charity delivery partners to improve the identification of, and support for, unpaid family and friend Carers of adults with mental health needs. The work may also involve identifying children and young people in caring roles and brokering access to our Young Carers Support team.

As well as leading a small, part-time team of Carer Peer Support Workers, you will work alongside them, providing front-line, individual and group dedicated support (practical, social and clinical interventions). As well as coordinating services to assist Carers with their own wellbeing needs, you will enable Carers to provide well-informed care for their friends and family. You also will be our representative for the MH Trusts’ Triangle of Care Steering Group.

About the role

Reporting in to the Programme and Partnerships Lead - IOPT, the Emergency Programme and Operations Officer will support the Programme and Partnership Lead, the Programme and Partnership Coordinator, and the Humanitarian Lead to actively manage Emergency Appeals. The role will ensure Christian Aid is prioritising locally led humanitarian approaches and maximising impact.

Acting with humility, respect, and mutuality the post-holder will ensure that Christian Aid works with partners to maintain internal documentation to ensure risk compliance, and reporting requirements with appeal funders.

The role will support partners, and other stakeholders in a range of areas including monitoring and evaluation, financial accountability and
will connect with technical support where needed.

The role will communicate and work well with partners and share information related to partners and their work both internally and externally.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Emergency Programme and Operations Officer include:

• Manage relationships with Key Stakeholders in the Appeal including CA Colleagues, Local and National partners, networks, DEC peer agencies, and ACT Alliance members.
• With oversight from the programme and partnerships lead provide or make available operational support to a dynamic portfolio of partners, using decolonised and localised approaches that support them in their work and foster a mindset of connection and enhance collaboration.
• Provide support to partners to ensure impact is effectively monitored, reported, and shared across internal and external stakeholders
• With support from the Humanitarian Lead, and the Humanitarian Appeals Manager ensure projects and programmes are delivered with impact in line with agreed aims, with funds used for designated purposes.
• Collaborate and contribute to global discussions to advocate for and share learnings about more people-centred approaches to humanitarian aid, including with donors, peer agencies, supporters, ACT Alliance, and the DEC to support with a culture of continuous learning

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential:

• An understanding of the current thinking related to locally led humanitarian approaches.
• Significant experience working with programme cycle management systems.
• Demonstrated experience of working in partnership with Civil Society Actors responding to crisis and an understanding of partnership approaches.
• Detailed understanding of partnership, and appeal cycle management, tools and techniques.
• Significant experience of budget monitoring and reporting for Appeal Funders such as the DEC, and ACT.
• Highly developed communications skills, both writing and verbal including the ability to write clear, concise reports.
• Highly developed ability to build effective working relationships across organisations.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, motivate and inspire others to take up new challenges.

Desirable:

• Experience with Christian Aid programme systems such as IPIM’s.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English.
• Educated to degree level, ideally in development studies, international relations, or humanitarian response

We are seeking to recruit to a brand new post and are looking for an experienced and strategically minded person to strengthen Salford CVS’s strategic VCSE leadership role within Salford.

Main purposes of the post

To provide strategic leadership for Salford CVS’s health and social care work, ensuring the VCSE sector is influential, represented and embedded within key strategic partnerships, boards and system-wide initiatives across Salford.

The postholder will work closely with the Senior Strategic Lead for Wellbeing, Health and Social Care to shape strategic agendas, strengthen cross-sector relationships and ensure VCSE voices help influence the city’s long-term plans relating to Health and Social Care.
