ABOUT US

Not all young people have the same opportunities in life. Caudwell Youth exists to level the playing field for young people at risk. We support young people up to 25 years, who face real challenges in their lives. They may experience mental health challenges, be leaving care or be at risk of exploitation or offending.

We provide person centred support through volunteer-led mentoring for up to 18-months, alongside a targeted intervention programme called Shaping Futures for high-risk young people. Founded by the philanthropist John Caudwell in 2022, we now support young people across Milton Keynes, Hertfordshire, Slough, Buckinghamshire, and Luton.

Over our first 3 years as a charity, our work has consistently achieved exceptional outcomes for at-risk young people. 95% reduced offending behaviour, 64% reduced their exploitation risk, 83% reported improvements in their mental health and 45% had moved into education, employment or training. When a young person makes progress, families and communities benefit too. In fact, economic analysis shows that for every £1 invested in our programme, we save the public purse £6.05.

Unfortunately, demand for our service far outstrips supply, meaning we have often had to close our waiting lists. Whilst the risks and challenges young people face continue to grow. We currently support around 400 young people. The driving ambition behind our forthcoming strategy is to reach more.

To achieve this we are setting out to develop and expand our programmes. To become a national charity. We will do this working with at-risk young people, empowering them in everything we do. Our ambition to support more at-risk young people is shared with them.

Purpose of Role:

Provide strategic leadership on all Caudwell Youth’s external communications, ensuring they are effective in driving engagement and delivering our strategic goals.

Responsible as part of the Senior Leadership Team for the overall leadership of Caudwell Youth. Promoting the mission, vision and values of the charity, and the development and implementation of our strategic plan.

Key Duties:

Corporate leadership

• As part of the Senior Leadership Team work with the Board of Trustees to: develop and progress the organisation’s strategy, set and manage the organisation’s budget and ensure risks are managed effectively
• Lead by example, instilling a values-led and inclusive culture, with strong youth involvement

Commnications

• Lead on brand strategy, developing the brand to become more youth-led, reviewing our visual identity, core messaging, content and channels.
• Be responsible for digital strategy, leading development of our website and social media channels.
• Be responsible for our CRM, maintaining good data practices and delivering timely, integrated communications to our key audiences.
• Lead the development of communication plans, storytelling, assets and content; increasing the proportion of content created and delivered by young people.
• Provide the framework and support for youth participation in communications activities, working effectively with the Operations teams.
• Work with young people to identify influencers and celebrity/ambassador support to raise awareness and support our brand values.
• Lead proactive and reactive media engagement; including crisis communications with support from the CEO and John Caudwell’s PR team.
• Ensure our brand and communications convey a powerful case for support; working with the Fundraising team to create compelling donor communications to recruit and engage challenge participants and donors.
• Develop and deliver marketing strategies for volunteer recruitment to enable our mentoring programmes to grow.
• Gather and share the views and experiences of young people to influence change, building policy and campaigns activity as resources allow.
• Oversee the production of digital, printed and physical assets as required.
• Lead and manage the Communications team effectively, supporting development to maximise performance.
• Ensure effective processes and analytics are in place, reporting to SLT and the Board of Trustees on KPIs

Experience:

Essential

• Proven experience in senior communications roles.
• Sound leadership and team management experience, with the ability to manage and motivate teams to achieve targets.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in communications, media relations/PR, advocacy and/or marketing.
• Experience of involving beneficiaries in communications activities, preferably young people
• An good understanding of GDPR.

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

Breast cancer does not need to be detected late, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported by people like you, we will do all we can to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen.

The Role

Following a recent departmental restructure, we’re entering an exciting period for the content team. This shift in the team structure highlights our commitment to making best in sector content – all in the name of our mission; to ensure all breast cancers are diagnosed early and accurately in young people.

We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Content who will be responsible for delivering our holistic content strategy over the next year. You’ll oversee the management, production and strategic placement of all organic content across CoppaFeel!’s channels, and in-house paid campaign activations. You’ll help shape CoppaFeel!’s approach to content so that it appeals, resonates with and converts our key audience of 18–24 year olds, as well as our supplementary audiences, across website, email and social channels.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing and alongside other Heads of Dept, bringing your expertise and knowledge to leadership discussions to help shape the future of the organisation. You’ll report to the Marketing Director and will line manage the Social Media Manager, Content Manager, and Web and Email Manager, and will have exposure to the Senior Management Team.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You’ll be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings and in person training, but we’ll provide plenty of notice for when you’re required to be in for these purposes.

This is a fixed term role for 8 months.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work as a valued part of the CoppaFeel! leadership team to deliver the organisational strategy, shape the culture and influence cross departmental ways of working.

• Deliver the holistic content strategy across digital and social channels (including website, email, search, social, and content creators) that will enhance the annual marketing strategy and drive awareness of CoppaFeel! and our mission amongst 18–24 year olds.

• Responsible for overseeing a team creating and producing innovative content that’s insight driven and market leading.

• Oversee production plans delivering our year round ‘always on’ organic content (web, email, social).

• Lead and inspire creativity across the organisation with a view to becoming social first in everything we do.

• Work with the Web and Email Manager, Content Manager, and Social Media Manager to develop and deliver a content optimisation test and learn programme.

• Work with the Web and Email Manager to optimise CoppaFeel!’s website and third party agencies to research, plan and execute Search Engine Optimisation and paid search strategies.

• Work with the Web and Email Manager to develop and deliver the annual website and email content plan, including an optimisation plan.

• Work with the Social Media Manager to produce social first content year round, in line with the social media and content strategy.

• Work with the Content Manager to produce best in class long form content and content creator partnerships.

• Oversee in house paid social media campaigns, primarily on Meta, with support from the Social Media Manager. Deliver training to the Social Media Manager to help them work towards activating these independently.

• Oversee delivery of workflow processes for managing the content lifecycle, including producing, distributing, measuring, and retiring content.

• Ensure all content is consistent with brand guidelines and tone of voice.

• Oversee capacity of the Content Team.

• Line manage the Content Manager, Social Media Manager and Web and Email Manager.

• Ownership of the Content Team budget and quarterly re-forecasting.

• Contribute to quarterly all staff team meetings.

• Ensure rigorous reporting and analysis of social and digital activity to ensure delivery of planned KPIs, with an ambition to be constantly improving and evolving.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Minimum 5 year’s experience working in a management-level, content-focused role, for example a Content/Creative Lead, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Senior Content Manager, Head of Digital Marketing or Head of Content/Creative.

• Demonstrable experience in managing and prioritising cross departmental content requests.

• Demonstrable experience of implementing strategic content plans.

• Demonstrable experience of producing creative content across a wide variety of formats.

• Demonstrable experience with activating paid social campaigns.

• A leader with the ability to develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team to achieve high standards.

• The ability to build relationships with and manage senior stakeholders’ expectations and cross departmental content requests.

• Demonstrable experience of reaching and converting 18–24 year olds (our target audience) via engaging content with a focus on Instagram and Tik Tok.

• Experience of working for a youth focused brand/charity or account (if agency based).

• Experience of working with content creators.

• Excellent knowledge of the ever changing digital and social landscapes, and how tools/AI can help enhance our work.

• Confident decision maker.

• Experience of budget management and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities   

To work closely with the Evidence & Advocacy Manager (EAM) to develop and implement a series of impactful evidence and research projects that support our advocacy messaging, as well as internal and external learning for inclusive programmes and advisory work. These projects will build on established workstreams alongside developing new ones to maintain and extend CBM UK’s evidence base.

Disability Evidence, Policy Research and Learning  

With EAM support the ongoing CBM UK Research and Evidence workstream, through:

1. Translating evidence from our programming countries and projects to produce and contribute to a range of resources to influence FCDO and other stakeholders. Tasks to include managing and maintaining established outputs, such as the CBM UK Project Evidence Briefs and Disability Voices paper series, generating new thematic papers, as well as policy and position papers to enhance effective advocacy submissions, briefing notes, blogs and other messaging on key disability rights issues.   
2. Working collaboratively within CBM UK and across CBM Global to help develop and to deliver new policy research, drawing on mixed methods and data sources including national and international databases, using qualitative approaches including participatory or citizen generated data, and new empirical work.
3. Supporting Programme staff to improve impact and learning practice in CBM UK funded projects, provide technical support for the implementation of programme related research and data collection, including MEAL.
4. Providing technical research support into the development of proposals for new grant funded projects, and, where successful, support the management of subsequent research projects. 
5. Keeping abreast of new research and publications on key themes and priority concerns within the CBM UK Advocacy and Influencing Strategy, taking into consideration sector trends and developments, and ensure this is disseminated to relevant staff within the CBM UK Team. 
6. Keeping watch on UK policy environment and conducting research and analysis to support CBM UK advocacy messaging on disability and human rights.

Dissemination and Communications 

1. Maintaining and developing internal knowledge management systems for research and information on disability inclusion and rights, and related areas, to be used by Advocacy, Programmes and Fundraising & Communications teams.
2. Ensuring communication plans are developed with CBM UK and Global Federation colleagues for CBM UK evidence outputs.
3. Maintaining the Advocacy and Influencing pages of the CBM UK website ensuring rights-based communication and focus to support CBM UK and Global campaigns.
4. Liaison with Fundraising & Communications colleagues to amplify media stories, case studies and compelling evidence from country programming for advocacy purposes.
5. Participation in and building good relationships with UK-based disability and development networks, including relevant research networks and membership of the BOND Disability and Development Group. 
6. Supporting the professional publication and printing of CBM UK outputs, for dissemination at advocacy engagements and public events.

1. Work with other CBM UK teams to maximise cross fertilisation opportunities and integrated working.  
2. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM. Play an active role across CBM, promoting positive working and innovation. Ensure that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications.  
3. Identify opportunities to initiate and contribute to new initiatives and events, both within CBM UK and externally.

You will lead and coordinate the Young Carers Transition Pathway so that young carers (YC) and young adult carers (YAC) experience a consistent, person-centred journey from early preparation (5–10) through post-16 and into adulthood.

You will drive awareness and access to support across schools, FE/HE and employers, maintain regular conversations and touch points, and embed the Transition Pathway within the Local Authority statutory assessment and review cycle, in partnership with our Assessment Officers.

This is a newly created position offering a unique opportunity to help shape it's direction and truly make the role your own.

Funding has been secured for a minimum of 5 years and this is therefore currently a fixed term role.

• Plan, deliver and cover groups across our area of operation to maintain continuity and meet agreed access and touch-point standards; provide contingency cover to avoid session gaps.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a quick-thinking, organised, insightful and analytical intern to join our consulting team. As an ethical organisation, Scriptoria does not believe in unpaid labour, so this position is a paid role with the real opportunity to turn into a full-time job for the right candidate. You won’t be doing coffee runs or endless photocopying, you will be a pivotal part of the team making a serious contribution to the work we do.

You will have at least a 2:1 or first-class honours degree and your English language, writing and communications skills will be excellent. A science-related degree could be beneficial, and a Master’s degree is an advantage but not essential.

Your role as an Intern in our Consulting Team

As a member of the consulting team (after sufficient training) you will be given the opportunity to work on some of Scriptoria’s exciting international consulting projects alongside senior team members. The work will be varied and will involve working closely with our team of developers to conceptualise and design our specialist project-management software for international development and research organisations. You will therefore have excellent communication skills to translate the needs of the clients into actionable instructions for the data team. As an individual, you need to see data science and technology as tools for problem solving and enjoy the analytical and “detective” work involved in applying them.

· Salary: Annual gross salary of £25,396.80 per year (pro rata), paid monthly 

· Location and hours: Home (UK only) or office-based in South London. Our standard working hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm every day with one hour for lunch (1pm to 2pm).

Purpose:

The Events and Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting both membership events and communications activities.  The ECO will work with both the Communications Manager and the Membership and Events Manager to ensure membership data is up-to-date, to track membership engagement, to support the organising and delivery of our events, and to craft and broadcast digital content and media outputs.  This role requires a proactive, dynamic, and driven individual with excellent communication skills, an understanding of event management, confidence and experience using CRM databases and Excel, along with social media skills and an ability to spot new media opportunities. Key Responsibilities

Membership and Events Support

1. Working closely with the Membership and Events Manager to deliver  strategies for recruiting, retaining, and engaging members.
