Training Manager

ILPA is a charity and professional membership body working to improve immigration, asylum and nationality law. Our training programme is a core part of our work and one of our largest income streams. In 2024/25 we delivered 67 courses and conferences to more than 2,300 practitioners across the UK, supporting lawyers, caseworkers, advisers and organisations working with migrants.
We are recruiting a Training Manager to run this programme end to end. This is a hands-on role that requires strong organisation, confidence with digital platforms and the ability to work with experienced external tutors. The post holder will shape the training calendar with support from the Training Advisory Board and maintain ILPA’s reputation for high-quality, practitioner-led training.
Key Responsibilities
Programme planning and development
• Build and manage the annual and quarterly training schedule
• Work with the Training Committee to identify priorities and emerging issues
• Balance advanced and introductory content across immigration, asylum and nationality law
• Plan and support hybrid conferences and ensure high-demand sessions are scheduled in good time
Tutor and content management
• Recruit, contract and manage ILPA’s panel of external tutors
• Provide clear briefings and support tutors in producing accurate, up-to-date materials
• Facilitate the Training Advisory Board and ensure actions are followed up
• Ensure training content remains high quality and aligned with ILPA’s values
Event delivery
• Set up all events on Eventbrite, including pricing, discounts, communications and refunds
• Host online sessions and support hybrid delivery when required
• Troubleshoot logistical and technical issues on the day
Income, reporting and evaluation
• Monitor bookings, attendance, cancellations and income
• Produce monthly performance reports for the Chief Executive and Finance and Office Manager
• Maintain high participant satisfaction and take action where improvements are needed
Marketing and engagement
• Draft course descriptions, learning outcomes and promotional copy
• Promote events through ILPA’s weekly all-member update and other communication channels
• Respond to participant queries and ensure a reliable customer experience
Systems and administration
• Maintain accurate records, contracts, schedules and evaluation data
• Process tutor invoices and ensure they match delivery
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal policies
Person Specification
Essential
• Experience managing training or professional development programmes
• Strong organisational skills and confidence managing a busy schedule
• Clear communication skills and ability to work with senior practitioners
• Good commercial judgement and experience generating income

The Marketing and Communications Officer plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility of, and driving registrations to, the Holocaust Educational Trust’s programmes with schools across England. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility of, and driving registrations to, the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Department for Education funded ‘Supporting Survivor Testimony in Teaching’ initiative – specifically supporting a drive to engage and register schools, ensuring schools across England are inspired to take part through compelling and effective marketing and communications. The post’s work ensures that schools across the UK are inspired to engage with our programmes, building long term and ongoing relationships.
Key responsibilities
All of the responsibilities below are achieved by working closely with the Trust’s programmes team and with the various external MarComms agencies that provide support to the Trust, ensuring that a programme of compelling content and campaigns is shared across email, social media, and web platforms, all designed to inspire teachers and school staff to engage in our programmes and initiatives. As our in-house link to the MarComms agency, you will:
- Support with the development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan, which will drive school engagement, and will translate in to school registration on to the government funded ‘Supporting Holocaust Survivor Testimony in Teaching’ initiative.
- Ensure that a programme of compelling content and campaigns is shared across email, social media, and web platforms, all designed to inspire teachers and school staff to engage in HET’s programmes, translating into school registrations
- Work with colleagues across the Trust, as well as agencies, to ensure that HET’s communications channels are effectively coordinated in line with a shared marcomms calendar
- Support the creation and management of marketing content and messaging across platforms, including website, social media, email newsletters, blog posts, sector press and other.
- Produce engaging marketing materials, press releases, case studies and reports to promote programmes’ impact and inspire engagement.
- Identify new sources of educational contacts, to build the Trust’s database and increase visibility of our marketing materials.
- Build relationships with media contacts, stakeholders, and partners to maximise PR opportunities.
- Provide accurate information regarding engagement to enable the preparation of reports, including reports to donors and funders including government, as well as to the Board of Trustees; and undertake analysis to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement in the effectiveness of marketing activities
- Monitor marcomms delivery against KPIs regularly, ensuring stats are kept up to date and flagging in advance if there is a chance of not meeting a KPI.
- Ensure marketing and communications are delivered in line with responsibilities related to data protection including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, and that GDPR is part of programme planning across all programmes.

About the role

The Café – Nourishing Food, Nurturing Community

It hosts many of our wellbeing and creative programmes, and through initiatives like the Pay-What-You-Can Supper Club, supports emerging women chefs and builds everyday acts of care and solidarity. The café has the opportunity to not only advances our mission of improving women’s health and wellbeing but also generates vital trading income and partnership opportunities.
While it currently operates at a deficit, it plays a vital role in advancing our wellbeing and community objectives. We are now focused on realising its full commercial potential. A feasibility study is underway to explore a range of operational and business models that will transition the café into a sustainable, profit-making enterprise. Plans include expanding income-generating opportunities through hosting more events, developing an external catering offer, and maximising use of the space for private hire and functions during weekends. This work will ensure the café continues to embody our values while contributing significantly to the financial sustainability of The Bridge
Room Hire – Spaces that Enable Collaboration and Impact
Our professional meeting and event spaces are used by charities, community groups, and corporate partners for workshops, training, and strategic planning. With over 500 bookings a year and a 89% return rate, these rooms are known for their quality, warmth, and service. The income they generate supports our wider mission, while also acting as a catalyst for new partnerships and collaborations.
We now aim to build on this success by increasing utilisation on our most popular days (Tuesday to Thursday) and attracting new clients to fill capacity on Mondays, Fridays, evenings, and weekends. Plans include developing loyalty packages for regular clients and introducing new offers such as team wellbeing days that align with our health and wellbeing ethos. This approach will not only maximise income potential but also strengthen The Bridge’s role as a space where organisations connect, collaborate, and thrive.

This new role will play a key part in the orchestra’s digital-first strategy, supporting the creation, editing, and distribution of engaging content across web, social media, and other digital channels. - Record findings accurately and follow up with senior management to ensure that issues are rectified
- Conduct investigations to discover the root cause of compliance problems when they arise
- Develop systems for data collection, tracking, managing and reporting
- As DPO, ensure all personal data and sensitive information is handled within the College according to UK GDPR guidelines
- Draft new and amend existing data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
- Serve as the main point of contact within the organisation for staff members, regulators, and relevant authorities on issues related to data protection, and provide advice as required.
- Maintain records of all data processing activities within the College
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
- Train and advise all staff on compliance and GDPR regulations, how to meet, maintain and improve compliance requirements and the impact of non-compliance on the College.
- Review College external communication, marketing materials, websites and presentations to ensure compliance with regulations

Educated to degree level
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to promote the college

§ This role is located at our site in Ware, Hertfordshire; (or hybrid with preferably 2 days on site per week).
