 We are looking to recruit a Digital Innovation Adviser (Paternity Cover) to join our Programmes team on a fixed-term basis (16 weeks). This is an exciting opportunity for a technically-minded professional with a passion for responsible AI and digital innovation to play a central role in Elrha's growing portfolio of AI-focused work. 

In this role you will have the opportunity to shape how Elrha integrates AI and digital tools across its humanitarian research and innovation work. You will lead the delivery of our AI Lighthouse partnership with NetHope, act as our internal responsible AI adviser, and develop exciting new business development opportunities including an AI Sandbox and Rapid Innovation Fund. You will also play a key role in building Elrha's internal AI strategy and ensuring our digital platforms remain fit for purpose.

Your application will need to demonstrate: 

• Experience delivering digital or AI-enabled initiatives, with a good understanding of how AI is being adopted in practice across humanitarian or nonprofit organisations - including the governance challenges, ethical considerations, and barriers to scaling that commonly arise 
• Experience contributing to business development, including developing funding concepts, concept notes or proposals for donors in the digital innovation or humanitarian technology space 
• An understanding of responsible AI principles - including equity, inclusion, and what it means in practice to translate ethical frameworks into day-to-day institutional use - and the ability to act as an internal point of reference on these issues for colleagues 
• The ability to develop and communicate a clear internal strategy or policy position, working across teams to build consensus and prepare documents for senior sign-off 
• Strong analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to capture learning from technical initiatives and translate it into clear outputs for internal teams and external audiences 
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently, prioritising and delivering to a high standard under pressure 
• An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, ideally demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work 
• Experience of large-scale digital innovation initiatives, humanitarian evidence synthesis, organisational digital transformation, or working with technical partners to design or implement AI-enabled solutions would also be an advantage.

• Remote working as standard – staff can access office bases in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester if required/ appropriate. We expect staff to attend team meetings and away days in person as required.

Our Operations Director will lead the development of the operational infrastructure required to scale Fruitful Work nationally and internationally. Working in close partnership with the Founder & CEO, this role takes ownership of the systems, processes, team and organisational rhythms that enable the charity to grow rapidly and sustainably. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, turning vision into reliable execution, and creating the foundations that allow a small team to deliver outsized impact.

The National Lottery Community Fund is looking for a skilled and proactive Network Manager to become part of their compact IT Infrastructure Team located in Birmingham. This role will report directly to the Head of IT Infrastructure & Security. Hybrid working is available, though occasional travel to various UK sites will be required.

Role Expectations

As a Network Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our IT network, ensuring optimal performance, up-to-date security, and reliability.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Be an integral part of the Team and act as the go to person and SME for networking requirements. Work with stakeholders both internally and externally from diverse backgrounds and communities.
• Collaborate closely with Network Managers, Infrastructure Engineers, Security Team and Project Managers to understand and address their requirements.
• Manage and optimise network infrastructure, including on-premise networks, public cloud (Azure) networks, virtual networks and WAN technologies.
• Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Monitor network performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with service desk staff, providing education and support while resolving network-related tickets.
• Be responsible for end-to-end delivery of the Project tasks.
• Lead networking element of projects to improve production environments.
• Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation such as Network Designs.
• Responsible for ensuring that any designs produced are in line with the current network architecture and infrastructure strategy documentation and are fit for purpose.
•  Provide timely updates and whenever necessary timely escalation of issues to right stakeholders.

 Skills & Requirements

• Configure and manage Firewalls, Routers, Access Points, Switches, SD-WAN and Networking Appliances.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, VLANs, load balancing, and VPNs.
• Configuring and installing hardware in both office and data centre environments.
• Contribute to design and architecture discussions.
• Mitigate Pen Test and Audit findings.
• Participate in out of hours implementations of change/support as required.
• Accurate estimation of workload and timelines for delivery.
• Support and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Compliance to regulatory and mandatory policies.
• Relevant vendor management experience.

Programme Support & Knowledge Director

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Location: The role can be based in the London, United Kingdom, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda, subject to right to work eligibility in the respective countries.

UK hybrid working – a minimum of 40 % of working time is spent face-to-face (London office, external meetings or travel). 60/40 hybrid working at WaterAid means roughly three days wherever you work best and two days together in person.

About the team

The Programme Support & Knowledge (PSK) team is a critical and dynamic unit within WaterAid UK’s International Programmes Department (IPD), working across 17 countries in Africa and Asia. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of over 20 technical specialists and advisors committed to bringing sustainable WASH to the world’s poorest and most marginalised people.

About the role

As our Programme Support and Knowledge Director, you will play a key role in delivering our mission by providing strategic leadership to the PSK team and the wider IPD, as part of the department’s SMT. You will also input into organisation-wide initiatives, external collaborations and global networks to drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

• Provide strategic and technical leadership to WaterAid UK’s programmes
• Lead the Programme Support & Knowledge Team
• Lead programme learning and knowledge management
• Oversee programme support and capacity development
• Support fundraising, external engagement, partnerships and communications
• Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

• Extensive and deep experience in WASH development across multiple contexts
• Strong technical WASH skills – e.g. sustainable rural and /or urban water supply service delivery and management, climate resilient WASH, 
• Systems-thinking capability to support transformational WASH programming
• Proven ability to lead strategic, impactful initiatives in large organisations
• Strong understanding of planning, monitoring and evaluation in development
• Experience in knowledge management, learning and capacity development
• Proven experience of developing propositions and donor engagement and
• A track record of leading high-performing teams and supporting change

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:

• Working knowledge of French, Portuguese or Spanish
• Experience leading or managing applied research
• Experience establishing and promoting technical standards.
