The role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to be a valued member of parkrun’s Digital and Data team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the digital platforms that support millions of participants and volunteers every week.
The focus of the platform engineering function at parkrun is to deliver reliable, scalable and efficient digital systems that underpin event delivery, websites, databases, APIs and the parkrun app. The Senior Platform Engineer will lead and contribute to the modernisation of backend infrastructure and services, driving improvements through transformation and the adoption of DevOps best practices. Working with a strong focus on reliability, performance and continuous improvement, the role will help mature software development processes and strengthen the resilience of our technology ecosystem.
With a proactive mindset and a passion for thinking differently, the Senior Platform Engineer will be a key force behind evolving and modernising parkrun’s technical infrastructure. This senior level role will also contribute to shaping the wider engineering team, sharing expertise, providing leadership, and helping ensure parkrun’s technology continues to support its mission to make the world a healthier, happier place.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Connexional Team.
We are offering an interesting and varied opportunity to support the work of the Connexional Team and the wider Methodist Church.
We are looking for someone who will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the core operational IT infrastructure, underpinning all services both internally and externally in a responsive and customer-focused manner.
You will advise members of the team on matters related to IT and resolve second and third-line tickets in line with the service level agreement. Assist with the maintenance, continuous improvement and administration of the team’s growing IT infrastructure. Deploy and maintain laptop, desktop and tablet security to ensure that IT service users can enjoy a safe and secure IT environment. Perform proactive maintenance of the infrastructure environment as required. Work to tight deadlines and provide high levels of technical support and compliance.
Working alongside colleagues within the Infrastructure team, you will provide support services to approximately 250 office-based and remote users within the organisation.
About You
- Proven experience supporting enterprise infrastructure platforms and software, including but not limited to: Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows 11, Office 365 and MS 365, Backup, Monitoring/SNMP, SMTP/Exchange, Web Server/IIS, Dell Servers and storage, Printers/Papercut,
- Experience in server administration, database administration and application support.
- Experienced in IT support services and ticketing, as well as laptop and mobile phone support and networking configuration.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate technical issues to all levels
- Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Customer service skills demonstrated through communication, knowledge, attention to detail and ability to get things done
- Strong organisational skills including planning, prioritising, timekeeping and managing busy workloads and ticketing systems working to prioritise.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Contractually this role is London-based.

You’ll be our leading technical voice for data, shaping and delivering our Data Strategy, guiding colleagues, and ensuring modern, effective ways of working with data. You’ll work with internal systems and sector datasets (plus third‑party sources like population data) to build the reporting that helps hospices compare services, reach underserved communities, and make better decisions.
We’ve recently invested in modern Microsoft data tools and updated our key systems to provide the foundations for the future. This is a chance to define how we use data for the long term, from engineering robust pipelines to creating the dashboards leaders rely on every day.
In the short term, your focus will be:
- Overseeing the introduction of a new member data collection portal being developed by a third-party organisation.
- Developing, deploying and improving our internal performance reporting and hospice sector reporting using Power BI and related Microsoft tools.
You’ll be passionate about data and using it to improve decision making and operational processes. You’ll be able to engage with colleagues at all levels to understand their needs, champion good data management and reporting practices, and provide technical advice and guidance.
You’ll join a high performing ICT and Data team of 8 colleagues.
