The Head of Public Fundraising is a new role at Coeliac UK leading the charity’s public fundraising function. The role focusses on driving sustainable growth across individual giving, community fundraising, events, lottery, raffle, digital fundraising and merchandise. This role is responsible for delivering Coeliac UK’s 5-year fundraising strategy to maximise return-on-investment, grow long term supporter value, and contribute to the charity’s mission. 

The Head of Public Fundraising will embed and deliver comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing Coeliac UK’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.

Who are we looking for?

Key to the success of this role is a strong understanding of individual giving fundraising. This role blends the strategic oversight and leadership of a Head of role across multiple income streams, with the hands-on expertise of an IG fundraiser. Experience across other income streams and areas of fundraising delivery would be a huge benefit as the role leads community fundraising and events, will take on digital fundraising - currently led by the Chief Engagement Officer, as well as manage the data and supporter care functions, but experience in individual giving is essential as Coeliac UK has defined that as an area of priority income. To progress to a screening call with THINK Recruitment, your CV must demonstrate evidence of delivering individual giving income in a UK charity environment. 

The successful candidate for this role will be someone who has already operated at a senior level within a charity such as at Senior Manager level, or Head of in a specific income stream.

Hybrid working

The role has a hybrid expectation of a minimum of a day a week in the High Wycombe office (HP11 2QW) to build relationships and provide support to the fundraising team, and there will be flexibility required for other in person meetings and events. Job Title: Grant-making Officer

Salary: £30,000–34,000

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) or Part-time (min 24 hours/week) 

Location: Central London / Hybrid (1-2 days in office per week)

Annual Leave: 25 days paid annual leave, increasing by 1 day per year of service (up to 28 days), plus an additional day for your birthday or key LGBTQI event and time off over the Christmas week.

GiveOut is an award-winning international LGBTQI community foundation bringing together our community and allies to support LGBTQI activism worldwide.

About the Role

As Grant-Making Officer, you will support the delivery of GiveOut's grant-making programme, helping ensure that funding reaches LGBTQI activist organisations efficiently, responsibly and in line with GiveOut's values and grant-making policies.

Reporting to the Grant-Making Manager, you will coordinate key aspects of the grant-making cycle, support grant partners throughout the grant lifecycle, and help maintain the systems, processes and relationships that underpin GiveOut's grant-making programme.

Bringing a passion for international LGBTQI human rights, you will build meaningful relationships with LGBTQI activists and organisations across the globe while developing your expertise in international grant-making.

Key Responsibilities

Grant-Making Programme Delivery

• Support the delivery of GiveOut's annual grant-making programme and grant portfolio.

• Coordinate the annual grant-making cycle, ensuring documentation, timelines and communications are delivered on time.

• Prepare due diligence assessments, grant agreements and other grant documentation for review by the Grant-Making Manager.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date grants management records. 

Grant Partner Relationships

• Build and maintain positive, responsive relationships with grant partners.

• Coordinate grant partner visits and engagement activities, including developing itineraries, supporting travel arrangements and coordinating logistics with colleagues and grant partners.

• Support the Grant-Making Manager in coordinating in-kind consultancy and pro bono support opportunities between grant partners and GiveOut's corporate and legal partners. 

Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation & Learning

• Coordinate the collection of narrative and financial reports from grant partners.

• Maintain accurate monitoring and reporting records across the grant portfolio.

• Support the Grant-Making Manager and Senior Communications Officer to capture grant partner updates, impact, learning and evidence for organisational learning, external communications, and donor reporting.

Sector Expertise & Representation

• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of developments in global LGBTQI movements and international human rights.

• Share relevant sector insights with colleagues to inform GiveOut's work.

• Represent GiveOut at meetings and events where appropriate.

• Smooth delivery of grant-making cycles, with all processes completed on time and to a high standard.

• Grant partner reporting, impact and learning are captured accurately and shared to support organisational learning and donor communications.

• Accurate, up-to-date grant records and documentation maintained across the grant portfolio.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience in grant-making, grant administration, programme coordination, or a related field (e.g. international development, social impact, research or NGO administration).

• Demonstrated commitment to or connection with the LGBTQI community.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across cultures.

• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

• A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of tasks. 

• A collaborative team player who actively contributes to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organisational culture, aligned with GiveOut’s vision and values.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Awareness of global LGBTQI movements and international human rights.

• Understanding of grant-making theory, processes, and best practices.

• Experience with grants management databases and tools.

• Experience collaborating with communications teams to develop impact stories, case studies, articles, or digital content. 

• Experience collecting or coordinating monitoring and reporting information for grant-funded programmes.

• Working proficiency in a second language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, ect.) 

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace tools (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Drive).
