Job description

Title: CRM and Power Platform Developer

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: One-year fixed term

Location: Office, hybrid or remote (1 week induction in office)

Salary: £39,793 pro-rata

Accountable to: Head of IT (Operations)

Responsible for: No management responsibility

DBS Eligibility: Basic DBS check and Social Media/Adverse Media checks

What You’ll Do:

You’ll be part of a small, collaborative data team of three, working closely with our Head of IT & Data and colleagues across the organisation. This is a hands-on role where you’ll:

  • Redevelop our CRM and introduce new features.
  • Create intuitive tools like Power Apps to make life easier for users.
  • Design workflows and automations that boost efficiency and improve data quality.
  • Develop reporting tools that empower teams to use data effectively every day.

Main Responsibilities

  • Enhance and support Thirtyone:eight’s Microsoft Dynamics CRM to meet business requirements, ensure reliability, performance, security and compliance with GDPR.
  • Create Power Apps to support the ongoing requirements of the business
  • Perform Unit Testing and end-to-end testing as appropriate 
  • Liaise with end users for User Acceptance Testing and user-training
  • Maintain clear and up to date documentation of system design, configuration, workflows, and user guides 

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Senior Developer to support and enhance Thirtyone:eight’s Microsoft Dynamics CRM, ensuring it is secure, fit for purpose, and meets service and reporting needs.
  2. Design and maintain Power Platform tools, including Power Apps and Power Automate, with user-friendly interfaces for efficient data entry and access.
  3. Create and optimise workflows and automations to improve efficiency, strengthen data quality, and reduce manual processes.
  4. Optimise the use of storage within Thirtyone:eight’s Dataverse environment.
  5. Facilitate workshops, discussions, and user interviews to capture functional and non-functional requirements.
  6. Translate business needs into clear, structured specifications and user stories.
  7. Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure shared understanding before development begins.
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and data quality enhancement.
  9. Collaborate with users and managers to translate requirements into practical, user-friendly solutions, supported by appropriate documentation.
  10. Integrate Power Apps with other Microsoft services, such as SharePoint and Teams, and with third-party tools where applicable.
  11. Develop and follow test plans to support reliable delivery of changes and enhancements.
  12. Keep system documentation current, covering design, configuration, workflows, reporting structures, and user guidance.
  13. Ensure all developments comply with GDPR, data protection, and security standards.

B) Essential Experience:

Experience in application or systems development, with either direct Microsoft Dynamics/Power Platform experience or transferable experience that would support rapid cross-training, including:

  • Developing, configuring, or supporting business applications using a modern programming language or low-code platform.
  • Working with relational databases, data models, queries, reporting, dashboards or structured business data.
  • Creating or working with APIs, integrations, connectors or data flows between systems.
  • Gathering user requirements and translating them into practical technical specifications or solutions.
  • Testing, documenting, deploying and supporting system changes or enhancements.

B) Desirable Experience:

  • Direct experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Apps, or Power Automate.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools.
  • Experience working in a charity, membership, CRM, case management, or safeguarding-related environment.

d) Essential Abilities, Knowledge & Motivation:

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new systems, platforms and development approaches quickly.
  • Practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse issues and deliver workable, user-friendly solutions.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good attention to detail when working with data, configuration, testing and documentation.
  • Awareness of data protection, information security and good practice when designing or supporting systems.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver work on time.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Apps and Power Automate.
