Our primary focus is on improving experiences and outcomes in maternity and perinatal care. We work with maternity professionals, pregnant and birthing people, and communities to strengthen rights, safety, equity and accountability across the system.
About Free From Harm
Free From Harm is our training programme on obstetric violence, birth trauma, informed consent, respectful maternity care and rights-based practice. It supports maternity professionals and related practitioners to recognise harm in perinatal care, understand how discrimination and power shape people's experiences, and strengthen safer, more respectful and more accountable practice.
The opportunity
As Free From Harm grows, we are building a pool of trusted freelance facilitators to co-deliver the programme to participant groups across England.
This is a self-employed contractor opportunity, offered on an assignment-by-assignment basis from August 2026. The day rate is £250. In addition, facilitators may earn affiliate commission of 20% of the relevant booking value where a booking is directly attributable to them through an agreed referral or sales route. This gives facilitators with existing networks in maternity, midwifery, NHS, public health or related sectors the opportunity to increase their earnings beyond the day rate. Any commission arrangement will be confirmed in writing.
Joining the pool does not guarantee minimum work or continuing engagement. Each assignment will be agreed in advance, including dates, location, preparation expectations and fees.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for facilitators who can hold complex, emotionally honest and sometimes challenging conversations with care, clarity and courage.
You may have come to this work through facilitation, maternity advocacy, midwifery, doula work, clinical education, community organising, activism, public health, reproductive rights, lived experience or another route entirely.
We are especially interested in people who bring:
- Knowledge of obstetric violence, birth trauma, informed consent and respectful maternity care
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and psychological safety in group settings
- A genuine anti-racist, anti-discrimination and intersectional approach
- Experience facilitating groups where difficult, activating or sensitive material arises
- Confidence naming harm, power, coercion and structural causes clearly and directly
- Co-facilitation experience, including joint planning, delivery and debrief
You do not need to have followed a traditional professional route. We value lived experience, community knowledge, advocacy and activism alongside formal training and professional experience.

We are looking for concrete examples from your real work, not general statements of values or commitment. We are especially interested in your experience of facilitating trauma or harm-related material, co-facilitation, and how an anti-racist and intersectional lens shows up in your practice.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a conversation with WRA UK. We will ask shortlisted applicants to discuss a real facilitation example, respond to a scenario and provide references or examples of previous work.

Caseworker
Location: Aylesbury (Hybrid)
Hours: 37.5 hours a week (5 days)
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 (FTE) per annum

Role Description
The Family Matters team provides emotional support, information, and guidance to the families (e.g. partners, parents, adult children, grandparents) of those under investigation for online child sexual abuse offences.
They are often the hidden victims of crime, facing multiple problems and isolated from sources of help and support. This role provides one to one support to family members over the phone, supporting clients with attending Court hearings, liaising with relevant professionals, and advocating for clients where necessary.
Responsibilities:
- To work as a member of the Family Matters Team to deliver outcomes for the Family Matters Programme as agreed with The National Lottery Community Fund.
- To provide information and Trauma informed support at a time of crisis to service users.
- To manage a caseload of complex adult client cases, providing client centred, practical and emotional support.
- To conduct risk assessments / case management.
- To offer information and support to family members regarding the Criminal Justice process during investigation, court hearings, sentencing and beyond.
- To help family members remain informed regarding Child in Need and Child Protection processes.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Essential:
- Experience in direct support work with victims or other vulnerable people including providing emotional and practical support.
- Excellent Caseworker with good assessment, motivational and empowerment skills.
- Organising, prioritising, risk management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of working cooperatively and effectively in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including presentation skills.
- PC literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in diverse settings and with people with diverse needs.
- Good knowledge of a full range of civil, criminal and practical options available to service users.
- Knowledge and skills to operate within a trauma-informed approach.
- A clear understanding of the gendered nature of some crime types, and a clear understanding of how different crime types disproportionately affect different groups of people.
Desirable:
- Ability to determine strategies, outcomes and opportunities to develop the role.
- Experience and knowledge of exploitation and modern-day slavery, sexual violence and other complex issues.
- Experience of working with diverse groups with multiple complex needs.
- Mental Health Awareness including the impact on an individual and the services available.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse.
Other Essential Requirements:
- Required to travel within and outside of Thames Valley on occasions.
- Be free from any criminal conviction which would conflict with the responsibilities of the post.
- Be able to deal with all information on a confidential basis.
- To have Citizenship of the UK or have entitlement to work in the UK.
